A movie for fans of the series only. I couldn't get into it. Makes original look like Oscar winner. I say D+

"Your mission is to defeat my brother." Mathayus's (Webster) kingdom has fallen and his wife has died. He is now an assassin that is hired by King Horus (Perlman) to stop the rise of his brother and the army of ghost warriors. I have to start off by saying that I didn't really like the original. To me it was very cheesy and over the top and more of a comedy then an action movie. After watching 2 & 3 the first one looks like an Oscar winner. This review will be short because it was a struggle to make it through and I did end up falling asleep a few times and I think I missed some important stuff, but I didn't care enough to rewind it. If you like the others you will like this one. If you didn't then I would avoid it. Overall, a movie for fans of the series only. I give it a D+.

With each sequel to Scorpion King the movie gets worse and worse. I'm not sure if it's because of the shrinking budget, but there's definitely something wrong with this. The script was just plain and cliché, like you can see in any exotic movie or video game of this type (like Prince of Persia) or all the previous Scorpion Kings. Other than this the film offers a lot of muscle and skin without any noticeable acting and handpicked women from Asia and some men from W.W.E. Championship to spice it up a little bit. Of course there are also some jokes which could make a 5th-grade-kid smile. Directing becomes rather trivial behind all these so I'm skipping it. So if you're looking for something to kill your time go ahead, but if you're in it for the art or cinematography this is not for you, keep away.

    Actually not too bad...

I was somewhat unsure of how to receive this movie, since I liked part 1, but wasn't particularly fond of part 2. But still, with nothing better to do, I decided to give part 3 a go.

Lets start off with the bad things about the movie. The dialogue was somewhat stale and halting. They tried to put in too much humor with Mathayus and Olaf, but it just didn't work. It didn't really seem appropriate for them to crack jokes like that. And also a lot of the dialogue by Talus was really way, way off.

The movie took place where exactly? Cambodia? Laos? Burma? Regardless of wherever the movie was supposed to take place, they threw in ninjas. Are you kidding me? Ninjas? Now, I like ninjas, they are cool and very 80's, but they are Japanese and thus were so unfitly put into this movie. It just made it look more comical than the intended action hype they were aiming for.

As for the good things. Well the movie had really nice location, lots of awesome and beautiful scenery, buildings and surroundings in this movie. And the cinematography itself was quite nice as well. The costumes and outfits were nicely made as well, great details and lots of interesting stuff going on.

"The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption" held some good enough names on the cast list. Victor Webster, playing Mathays, was doing a good job, though he had some big shoes to fill out from the first movie (not really counting part 2 for much). However, his character doesn't really have that whole epic-touch to it that was there in part one, he might as well have been some ordinary highwayman or mercenary, and that was a shame, because it took a great deal away from the movie. Now, Billy Zane as Talus, well I am not really keen on Zane, he brings with him that comical edge, which really seeps into the character and makes it come off a bit too much. The one that really stood out in the movie was Selina Lo, playing Tsukai. She was great at fighting, and they had done some really cool special effects to make her character come back from beyond the grave with a sense that there was something supernatural about her.

There is a lot of action and fighting in this movie, and it works out well enough. The fight scenes are well choreographed and are set at a high pace full of adrenaline. I liked what I saw.

One scene had me laughing so loud. It was where the ninjas, yeah ninjas, all jumped onto an elephant and rode away. Are you kidding me? They scale trees like others walk on the ground in this movie, with cat-like grace and dexterity, but they opt to make a daring get-away riding on an elephant? Now, elephants aren't exactly the fastest of animals. What was up with that?

Aside from suffering from bad dialogue and misplaced use of comedy, then "The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption" is a decent enough action movie that will entertain most people. Just don't compare it to what you have seen in the previous movies, because it really strays quite far from the legacy of past history.

Sword and witchery film with a great number of battles , frantic action , sword-play and fantastic elements

Since his rise to power developed in Scorpion King I¨ , Mathayus' (Victor Webster) kingdom has fallen and his sweetheart The Sorceress (Kelli Hu) has deceased by pest . Nowadays , drifter Mathayus is a bounty hunter and a hired killer , then he have to defend a kingdom governed by Horus (Ron Perlman) from his rogue brother (Billy Zane) , a nasty tyrant who has convoked dark forces by reading The Book of the dead : as three ghost warriors with incredible power suddenly appear to defeat them . Mathayus assisted by a German barbarian hunk named Olaf (Christopher) has to rescue a princess , daughter of Ramusan (Temuera Morrison) from the claws of the feared Talus who kidnapped her.

Thrilling and fantasy movie with lots of action , fights , adventures and swordplay . Here Mathays/Victor Webster must face off some fantastic enemies and tyrants for the chance to regain the glory and power he once knew . This passable actioner is more in Sword and Necromancy vein than an epic movie. Yes , it is cheesy , at times, but it doesn't actually strive for any more , and it results to be entertaining and amusing enough . In terms of milking a cash cow being really inspired by the original ¨Scorpion King¨by Stephen Sommers that at the same time was a spin-off to ¨Mummy¨ saga also directed by Sommers . Here all the men have the ordinary requisite amount , boasting themselves as well as showing muscles and strength , while women are all scantly clad. This one has a better cast than the second outing that were unknown actors , here stands out a nice cast as Victor Webster , Ron Perlman, Bily Zane , Temuera Morrison and Dave Bautista , furthermore a young gorgeous newcomer Kristal Vee.

The motion picture was professional, though with no originality , directed by Roel Reiné . He is a good Dutch filmmaker who has directed some good films , and with success enough . This Netherland filmmaker has directed a number of films and many of them are sequels . Roel has directed all kinds of genres with penchant for action movies . He has shot remakes and sequels as Hard target 2 , The condemned 2 , The Man with the iron mask , 12 rounds , Seal team eight , Redbeard , The Marine 2 and decent movies as The Admiral , the lost tribe, The Bear . As well as many episodes of notorious TV series as Black sails, Knightfall , Redball legend , Inhumans , among others.

This Scorpion King saga is formed by the following films : Scorpion King 2002 by Stephen Sommers with Dwayne Johnson The Rock, Steven Brand , Kelli Hu, Grant Heslov , Bernard Hill , Michael Clarke Duncan . Scorpion King The rise of a warrior 2008 by Russell Mulcahy with Michael Copon , Karen David , Tom Wu, Randy Couture , Natalie Becker . King Scorpion 3 Battle for redemption 2012 by Raoul Reine with Victor Webster , Billy Zane , Ron Perlman, Selina Lo, Keli Hu. The Scorpion King The lost throne 2015 with Victor Webster , Ellen Holliman , Will Kemp, Barry Bostwick , Rutger Hauer , Michael Biehn , M. Emmet Walsh. The Scorpion King , Book of souls 2019 by Don Michael Paul with Zach McGowan , Mayling , Peter Mensah, Nathan Jones .

Cannot comprehend the idea of making such a bad movie

First of all I want to simply warn the movie watchers regarding the opinion I am going to express. Personally I feel that this is the worst Movie I have viewed during my existence. The movie starts with a narrative to catch the viewers interest and attention. I was under the impression that it would be a good movie, after 30 minutes of watching this movie I simply had get out of the and not look back. I have never have degraded anyones work, with the exception of this film. I wish I could comprehend what the writer and producer were thinking when they chose the acting crew. The only actor that I notice talent was from Victor Webster, the hero, the king with out a kingdom. I cannot even continue to write about this movie since its a waste of time and money. I would not watch this movie even If I was paid and given free popcorn.

Talus' army uses counterpoise trebuchets. The big sling shot weapons with the counter weight. This particular type was not invented until the middle ages around the 11th century. If we follow the time line of the other movies that places them about 4000 years before they were invented.
