Although many action manga are written by male authors, there are several action manga written by women that shouldn't go unnoticed. Popular manga, such as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Fullmetal Alchemist already show how good manga written by women can be. They offer some of the most complex stories and characters that will immediately transport readers into an entirely new world.
Those looking to support action manga created by women have plenty to choose from. As the genre becomes more accepting, many manga have gained the recognition they deserve. While the manga industry is still male-dominated, female authors have risen in popularity. Their works are getting the proper recognition as they become more mainstream, which opens up fans to a whole new set of fantastic stories to dive into.

As anime has grown more popular, so has manga. Fans are now clamoring to grab their favorite series to see what happens next while they wait for the anime to catch up. Anime and manga with male main characters are beloved. What might surprise some fans, though, is that some of these fan-favorite manga with male protagonists are written by women.
Many manga nowadays are being written by women, despite their male main characters. Some of these manga are so popular because women focus on the more emotional aspects of their stories. This isn’t always the case, but it is a popular trend among manga that are written by women. Many of the best manga, whether in shōnen, shojo, or other demographics, are created by women and adored worldwide.

Though every new anime season comes and goes, there is a roster of anime, as well as characters, that remain in the hearts and memories of fans for generations to come. The most popular genre of anime appears to be the shōnen genre, a selection of titles created for a primarily male audience. However, people of all identities are fans of shōnen manga and anime; in fact, several creators of these works are written and illustrated by women. Examples of shōnen manga written by female creators include Blue Exorcist by Kazue Kato, Noragami by Adachitoka, and even Inuyasha by Rumiko Takahashi. The works of Takahashi actually inspired the creative journey of another female mangaka: Hiromu Arakawa, the creator of the famed manga Fullmetal Alchemist.

In recent times, dark and action-packed series have gained quite some popularity, with names like My Hero Academia, Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, and so many more. However, all of them were subjected to criticism as they fell short in front of Tatsuya Endo’s Spy x Family, which has hooked viewers and readers alike, as they keep returning for more for all the right reasons.
The Forger family. Credits: Credits: Wit Studios and CloverWorks
The series is a perfect blend of humor, action, slice-of-life, and comedy that enhances the viewers’ experience. What makes the series all the more entertaining is how the characters make our hearts race. This was possible as every character was fun to watch and underwent an unbiased sense of development.
However, fans will be perplexed to learn that this outstanding feat by Endo-Sensei was possible because of his detachment from all the characters of the series.

Among Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and other modern popular anime titles, Tatsuya Endo’s Spy x Family stands out with its distinct appeal. It’s a great mix of action, comedy, dark themes, and all things wholesome. When one thinks of Spy x Family, the first aspect that comes to mind are the characters. They are the heart and soul of the engaging narrative in the manga.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword (Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria) offers a compelling blend of fantasy and adventure and some dazzling adaptation of its Fujino Omori-authored and illustrated Kiyotaka Haimura-illustrated manga source material, to boot. Yet, despite its polished visuals, standout score, and powerful protagonist, the series struggled to garner the attention it deserved in 2024 compared to other newcomers like Kaiju No. 8 or Delicious in Dungeon.
Set in a realm where magic reigns supreme, Wistoria’s first season introduced Will Selfort, a magic academy student with more sword skills than innate magic abilities — and his subsequent struggle to overcome societal biases towards the more mystically inclined. It’s an intriguing premise—with quality results, too. So, why didn’t it earn more fanfare? An end-of-seaon-one investigation is in order.

If you’ve been in the anime community for a long time, one of the biggest and historical downfalls of all time was Sword Art Online. It had one of the best premises for a story ever but combined with the poor decision making from the animation studio, A-1 Pictures, Sword Art Online became a disaster. There’s actually a lot more responsible for why the anime failed, including Reki Kawahara’s own limitations as a writer, but A-1 Pictures holds primary responsibility for the anime’s downfall.

One of the biggest complaints and jarring changes was Kirito’s personality. From being an insecure teenager, the anime version of him leans much more into the edgy side of him but also creates an unnecessary harem, despite his relationship with Asuna being central in Sword Art Online. Toonami's reputation was founded on bringing retro anime to American audiences with broadcasts of nostalgic classics like Cowboy Bebop and Dragon Ball Z. Now, its new iteration reaffirms that legacy, bringing back a shonen classic to the programming block 10 years after its original broadcast.
Via Toonami Squad, due to debut once more on Nov. 2 at 1 a.m. (Est), Toonami will be introducing fans to the supernatural world of Assiah and the struggles of Rin Okumura. Originally captivating audiences when it first aired in 2014, Blue Exorcist quickly gained a devoted fan base thanks to its distinct cocktail of horror and shonen-style action. The concept of aliens and spirits is not new to the anime and manga world. But it has been completely revolutionized by Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan. Dandadan has recently entered the ever-growing anime community with a new series produced by Science Saru. And with only three episodes under its belt, it has managed to become the talk of the town.
