Ennis regrets using the 'Women in Refrigerators' trope in The Boys, acknowledging the problematic nature of killing off female characters for the sake of male character development. Ennis made up for his regret by giving depth and development to female characters like Butcher's wife and Starlight, avoiding the pitfall of killing them off for shock value. Starlight stands out as a well-rounded character in The Boys, with her own hopes, desires, and flaws, making up for Ennis' biggest regret and showcasing his commitment to fleshing out female characters.
The superhero satire series The Boys is filled with a lot of death and carnage. But even one of the comic's creators regrets playing into one of the most reviled tropes in comic book history. Years after the story's publication, The Boys' co-creator is finally airing his thoughts on his use of the 'Women in Refrigerators' trope.

There are some DC voice actors who would be perfect to play their animated characters in live-action in the new DC Universe. James Gunn has made it clear that casting for the Dcu's canon characters will take one thing into account: Every actor will play their Dcu character in live-action movies and series, as well as animated projects and even video games. The ambitious decision has led to many discussions about who the Dcu should cast, including bringing talented voice actors to the live-action stage.

DC acknowledges and criticizes The Flash's repeated use of evil speedsters as primary villains in the show. The Flash had other big bads that weren't speedsters, but the show kept falling into the pattern of using villainous speedsters, which was a detriment. While The Flash is well-loved, the repeated use of evil speedster villains is a glaring problem that fans may continue to resonate with.

Batman's popularity, and central position in DC lore, has resulted in many villains from other classic DC heroes making their way to Gotham City to take on the caped crusader. This includes Clock KIng, originally a Green Arrow villain; Gentleman Ghost, a former foe of Hawkman; and Deathstroke, who began as a Teen Titans antagonist. Once many of these villains turned their attention to Batman, they've had little or no time to feud with their original heroic foils.
One of the most important factors in ensuring a superhero's enduring popularity is having iconic and recognizable villains. With this in mind, there's simply no denying that Batman has some of the best villains in comic book. Yet while many of his most iconic rogues were introduced to battle the Caped Crusader, a number of them originated as antagonists for other DC heroes.

Actor Charlie Hunnam was offered the role of Green Arrow in the Dceu but turned it down. Hunnam wasn't enthusiastic about playing the character, citing his lack of knowledge about Green Arrow and his aversion to the costume. Although it would have excited many fans who had long wanted him for the DC role, Hunnam's disinterest led him to decline the opportunity.
A major actor and fan cast for DC's Green Arrow has just revealed they were once offered to take on the role. Although Zack Snyder's Dceu is coming to a close in favor of a rebooted DC Universe from new studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, there continues to be more reveals about the original vision for the Dceu and what might have been. This includes the reveal that actor Charlie Hunnam was once asked if he'd be interested in playing Oliver Queen, the Emerald Archer himself.

Zachary Levi has expressed interest in a Shazam buddy-comedy within James Gunn's DC Universe, specifically teaming up with Nathan Fillion's Green Lantern. Even though comic-book and superhero movies have been the dominant force in Hollywood for well over a decade now, there have still been plenty of failures along the way. This has certainly proven to be true with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has run into some choppy waters lately and is struggling to excite audiences to the same degree that it did five years ago. However, DC has been facing many of these issues for a long while now. DC has had success with both family-friendly and R-rated movies, with projects like "Shazam!" and "Green Lantern" delivering colorful adventures, while others like "Joker" delve into darker and more adult-oriented themes. "Watchmen" successfully adapted its challenging source material, receiving positive reception despite losing some subtlety in the move to live-action. "Birds of Prey" was a fun romp with great visuals but fell short in its portrayal of Harley Quinn's associates, not quite giving a few of them enough to do.

This article contains The Exorcist: Believer spoilers.
For nearly 20 years, author and screenwriter William Peter Blatty hated the ending of The Exorcist (1973) so much that he could barely speak with its director, William Friedkin. This would have likely struck many as odd considering the film faithfully adapted Blatty’s novel of the same name, and Blatty’s contribution to the work as screenwriter won him an Oscar. But the theatrical ending of that film was made so downbeat by its director—with Father Dyer (William O’Malley) looking at the staircase which stole the life of his best friend Father Karras (Jason Miller)—that many interpreted it as Dyer and the film were thinking none of this was worth it. For years afterward, Blatty was horrified when he encountered moviegoers who told him the Devil won.

James Gunn plans to bring Green Lantern back with the HBO series Lanterns, which can greatly boost the popularity of DC's intergalactic police force. Despite the lack of successful live-action adaptations, the exposure of a Sunday night HBO Green Lantern series can lead to a surge of interest in one of DC Comics' most interesting concepts. The upcoming HBO series Lanterns, part of the new Dcu live-action connected universe being overseen by Gunn and Peter Safran, will feature Hal Jordan and John Stewart investigating a mystery, showcasing the character's importance in the Dcu.
The absence of DC superhero Green Lantern from the live-action screen is finally over. DC Studios' new co-ceo, James Gunn, has plans to give the character a big comeback with the HBO series Lanterns. As John Stewart returns to his cosmic role as Green Lantern, DC is introducing a terrifying new power ring that's unlike anything he's encountered in the past. Recently, John retired from the Gl Corps in order to care for his family, but a major new threat is pulling him back to heroism on a multiversal scale.
In Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Montos, Adriano Lucas, and Dave Sharpe's Green Lantern: War Journal #1, an astronaut encounters a glowing Power Ring, which incinerates her after offering a glimpse of a terrifying, corpse-like being. While the ring's energy has purple-ish coloring, its symbol is different to those of the existing Indigo Tribe or Star Sapphire Corps, suggesting a new guiding emotion and power set. The being and ring bear a resemblance to new villain the Revenant Queen, seen in the back-up stories to recent issues of DC's main Green Lantern series. If so, it...

Many DC movie scenes from both non-dceu films and Dceu projects, failed to live up to the hype. For example, the Batman chase scene with Joker and Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad fell short of expectations, as it was too short and didn't feature an interaction between Batman and Joker. Another example is the Trench scene in Aquaman, which teased a darker, horror-like movie that was never fully delivered, as the film focused more on the spectacle of the Seven Kingdoms.
The list of DC movie moments that did not live up to the hype includes pre-dceu films, highly anticipated Dceu projects, and long-awaited returns that unfortunately fell short. DC’s movie history begins way before the DC Extended Universe, although Man of Steel started what is now the longest DC movie franchise to date. ‘Venom 3‘ is right on the horizon. The first movie, starring Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams, started the franchise with a bang that was very much a surprise. The first film felt like a throwback to those early X-Men films from the early 2000s, and while it wasn’t very good in the end, it was fun. People’s curiosity really managed to win in the end, making the film a success at the box office. The second film was a more strange case, this time directed by Andy Serkis. The film just didn’t live up to expectations. And by being released during the pandemic period, it couldn’t come close to the previous film’s performance at the box office.

Warning: The following contains mentions of violence and sexual assault.
Green Arrow's reputation as a womanizer is exaggerated; he is actually loyal and possessive of Black Canary, though history has unjustly remembered him as a player. The relationship between Green Arrow and Black Canary is extremely complicated, involving retcons and convoluted storylines. Green Arrow's character has been significantly changed in later stories, portraying him as an unrepentant womanizer, but newer series are reconciling these conflicting histories and allowing for a fresh start.
The reports of Green Arrow constantly cheating on long-time love interest Black Canary are greatly exaggerated. While Oliver Queen was once the sort of womanizer that Bruce Wayne only played at being, he was a changed man after becoming Green Arrow and utterly loyal — to the point of possessiveness — to his "pretty bird." Unfortunately, history has unjustly remembered Green Arrow as an unrepentant player.

When Zack Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’ was released in 2013, we all thought a new era of DC had started since the movie was supposed to kick off a cinematic universe that was supposed to bring DC into the cinematic universe race with Marvel. However, ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ received a mixed critical response, and despite grossing over $800 million worldwide, it was deemed a commercial disappointment since it was the first live-action movie that assembled Batman and Superman together.
In 2014, Warner Bros. and DC revealed their planned slate of DC movies, which included many solo movies like ‘Wonder Woman,’ ‘Aquaman,’ ‘The Flash,’ ‘Cyborg,’ and ‘The Green Lantern Corps.’ Now, nine years later, only three of these movies have been made, with the difference that ‘The Flash’ turned out to be very different from what it was originally planned. Red, the beloved protagonist from the Pokémon mainline games, should take up the mantle as the new focus in a separate anime series. Pokémon Origins, a four-episode anime Ova, showcased Red as a protagonist and left fans wanting more of his story. Red is the most iconic protagonist in the mainline Pokémon games and has a solid foundation to lead his own anime story.
The Pokémon anime is a legacy series for the overall franchise with Ash as its face. However, with the beloved and perpetual 10-year-old boy's finally coming to a close next month on Netflix, the video games' Red should take up the mantle. While the latest series of the mainline anime, Pokémon Horizons: The Series, has already premiered with Liko and Roy as its latest protagonists, there are still ways for Red to get his share of the limelight.

Ryan Reynolds should have been cast as Guy Gardner in Green Lantern instead of Hal Jordan, as his comedic ability and cockiness would have been a better fit for the character. Nathan Fillion's casting in Superman: Legacy as Guy Gardner completes the Green Lantern casting problem. He would have been perfect as Hal Jordan, as he has campaigned for the role and voiced the character in animated films. Hopefully, the new live-action Green Lantern in Superman: Legacy will be an improvement over the previous portrayal.

Blue Beetle breaks a trend by acknowledging the hero's legacy before Jaime, adding depth and freshness to the Dceu. The inclusion of prior incarnations allows the film to skip explaining the character's entire history and create a more lived-in world. This change in approach benefits fans of the different Blue Beetle iterations and sets the stage for a new generation of the hero with Jaime Reyes.
Blue Beetle will buck a longstanding DC trend with superhero movies based on a theory for the upcoming Dcu film. Blue Beetle is expected to be the next film released by Warner Bros. in the unsure period between The Flash and Superman: Legacy. While Blue Beetle is still part of the Dceu, James Gunn has confirmed that the character will transition over to the Dcu, making Blue Beetle the first Dcu character despite Superman: Legacy being the first installment in Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters.

Ned Leeds takes a ride on Green Goblin's glider in newly revealed concept art from Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Shared on Reddit, the concept art -- which is originally from the film's art book -- shows Ned riding the Goblin's glider, laughing maniacally and looking ready to throw one of Goblin's pumpkin bombs. The character is decked out in a golden orange hoodie with blue sleeves, which is likely a reference to the costume of the Spider-Man villain, Hobgoblin. In the pages of Marvel Comics, Ned Leeds was the first character to use the supervillain name. While the concept art never made it past the page, No Way Home still alludes to Ned's comic book villainy with Ned promising Tom Holland's Peter Parker that he "won't turn into a supervillain and try to kill you.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's Orgocorp design was a challenge for Marvel, as they were hesitant about making meat and bone look appealing. The unique and original Orgocorp design received a lot of reservation from people, but the team believed audiences would respond to it. The DC Universe is still a few years away, but it's already getting rather crowded. The casting announcements for Superman: Legacy include not only the Man of Steel and Lois Lane, but other DC heroes such as Mr. Terrific, Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl. The intention is to have the Dcu begin in medias res, though this ambition could be helped with a potential Max TV series.
The Secret Origins comic book has been a staple of DC Comics for decades, acting as a useful tool to quickly inform readers of how certain heroes came to be. This concept would be a great fit for the nascent Dcu, which is starting out with many heroes already established. On top of that, it would serve as the best way to formally separate this new shared cinematic universe from the previous DC Extended Universe.

Warning: spoilers for World's Finest: Teen Titans #1 ahead! The Teen Titans team has been the proving ground for many notable sidekicks, but it turns out Batman once had a significant grudge against the group, coming to the wrong conclusion for all the right reasons. It's both heartwarming and tragic to see Batman shunning the Titans in an attempt to protect then-Robin Dick Grayson, as it speaks volumes about the relationship between mentor and protégé.
Taking place during DC's earlier years, World's Finest: Teen Titans #1 by Mark Waid, Emanuela Lupacchino, Jordie Bellaire, and Steve Wands revisits and updates the exploits of the original Teen Titans cast for the contemporary era. After defeating an eldritch cult, each member of the team excitedly reports back to their mentors about the day's adventures. Some (like Wonder Woman) are supportive and some (like Green Arrow) are absent, but only one expresses his outright disapproval, and that's Batman.

From Cop Out to Blade: Trinity, some really promising movies have been ruined by on-set feuds between the filmmakers and the actors. It’s difficult to make a great movie under the best circumstances because so many different departments have to be firing on all cylinders and working towards the same vision, but it’s especially challenging when two or more people on the set don’t get along. Arguments between directors and their stars – or feuds between the actors themselves – can create tension on a movie set that spoils the end product.
On-set feuds between filmmakers can often generate more buzz and discussion than the films themselves. The drama surrounding notoriously troubled sets can doom or hinder a movie's success. Here's ten movies that were held back and ultimately ruined by a feud between those involved in the production.

Arrow's Stephen Amell might not be done playing Oliver Queen just yet, and there are a few different ways in which the actor could continue in the role. Amell debuted as Oliver in 2012, with Arrow season 1. Since then, the actor has seen Arrow spawn an entire universe of DC TV shows on The CW, the Arrowverse. Over the years, multiple heroes came together in yearly crossover events as the Arrowverse grew to be DC's most successful live-action shared universe, surpassing the controversial Dceu. With the Arrowverse soon coming to an end with The Flash season 9, Amell could find new life as Green Arrow in other projects.
