Stephen Dorff has settled comfortably into a groove of straight-to-video action dramas for the last decade, but since 2011 he's been churning them out with reckless abandon in a way that makes it hard to know what you're getting when you pick up one of his headlining acts. Tomorrow You're Gone bucks any conventional story, and for that you have to give it credit, it feels distinctly unique. Unfortunately, save for some decent performances by Dorff and Michelle Monaghan (with a forced and unfortunate southern accent) and a few brief flashes of Willem Dafoe, Tomorrow You're Gone has few surprises that matter surrounded by lots of sloppily written attempts at contemplative conversation and a plot that doesn't really know what it's doing. The film meanders with no sense of direction and consequently loses the audience's interest along the way.

Stephen Dorff mans up for the World's Craggiest Face award, battling Michelle Monaghan and Willem Dafoe. What a plot

Tomorrow You're Gone looks likely to completely pass the world by. It has a generic title which – on the movie poster, at least – appears in the sort of font you'd normally find embossed onto the cover of a bad airport thriller novel. It stars people whose sense of quality control has wilted since the height of their fame. It's being released in cinemas and on iTunes on the same day. This could possibly be the most you're ever going to hear of it.
So the least that I can do is give you a taste of the plot, as laid out by the trailer. This way, if anyone ever asks you if you've seen Tomorrow You're Gone, you can use this information to...

The familiar thriller trope of a former criminal just trying to get his life in order until he's given one last job is back in action with Tomorrow You're Gone. This time it's Stephen Dorff (Somewhere, Blade) in the protagonist role as his final job goes wrong. But it's not just any job. This one comes from a man (Willem Dafoe) who saved his life in prison and wants a murder carried out in exchange. With 24 hours to clean up his mess, everything is on the line, including a promising nice girl (Michelle Monaghan). This doesn't look terrible, but it just feels like we've seen this movie before. Perhaps Dorff and Dafoe can spice this up. Here's the first trailer for David Jacobson's Tomorrow You're Gone originally from Apple: Charlie Rankin (Stephen Dorff) is out of prison, but not out of trouble. Indebted to the man who saved his...

Talk about having an impressive ensemble. “Crazy Heart” helmer Scott Cooper has already lined up a remarkable array of players for "Out of the Furnace," his first directorial effort since his breakout hit landed actor Jeff Bridges a Best Actor Oscar. The Black List-approved script is set in Indiana in 1986 and follows Slim (Christian Bale), recently released from prison, who intends to marry his girlfriend (Zoe Saldana) but instead is drawn into a quest for revenge when his brother (Casey Affleck) is murdered after getting involved in the gambling racket. This supposedly “No Country For Old Men”-like picture also has Sam Shepard, Woody Harrelson and Forest Whitaker, and has now added one more exceptional thespian to the mix.
Willem Dafoe, a talent who requires no introduction, is joining the cast in this gritty tale based on a script initially by Brad Inglesby that was titled “The Low Dwellers.

For almost two decades I’ve been traveling to the International Film Festival Rotterdam immediately following Sundance, struggling to keep my jet lag at bay while I attend a few Cinemart meetings, hit the informal but productive Cinemart cocktail hours, and delve into the fest’s always excellent and eclectic program. This year several fellower Sundancers made the trip as well, including sales agent Ryan Kampe, producer Adele Romanski, the Ifp’s Amy Dotson, the Sundance Institute’s Anne Lai, and director Terrence Nance, whose An Oversimplification of Her Beauty was programmed here and was one of the Park City’s true discoveries. Above is Nance, at right, pictured on the ground floor of the Doelen with Festival Director Rutger Wolfson.
“Rotterdam is the only festival with a 24-hour deejay,” Nance quipped to me. While I haven’t stumbled into the Doelen at 5:00 Am, Nance is not far from the truth.

[1] Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor are in talks to join Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in James Wan's upcoming thriller, formerly called The Conjuring. The film, which is now going by the working title Untitled Warren Files Project, centers around a husband and wife paranormal investigation team (Wilson and Farmiga) dealing with spirits in a Rhode Island farmhouse. Livingston and Taylor would play a couple that moves into the farmhouse with their children, and are terrorized by the supernatural beings who reside there. The story is inspired by the real-life tale of the Perron family and paranormal experts Ed and Lorraine Warren in the 1970s. Livingston will next appear in HBO Films' Game Change, which premieres March 10, and this summer's The Odd Life of Timothy Green. Taylor co-stars in Paul Weitz's Being Flynn, which opens March 2. The Conjuring is scheduled to enter production in North Carolina in March.

I recently had the chance to sit down with actor Stephen Dorff to chat about his turn as Stavros in the upcoming 3D epic Immortals, which hits theaters November 11. We also talked about a number of upcoming movies Stephen Dorff stars in, such as The Motel Life, Boot Tracks, and a movie he starred in and produced entitled Brake. Take a look at what he had to say below.
"I did a really cool movie last year called The Motel Life, with me and Emile Hirsch, Dakota Fanning, and directed by the Polsky Brothers. They're new directors who have produced a lot of movies like Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. This film is really strong. I play a character with one leg, so it was really challenging. It's probably one of the best scripts I've ever read in this business, and I've been doing this for a long time.

Stephen Dorff discusses playing Stavros in Immortals, working with Tarsem Singh and Henry Cavill, future projects, and more.
Actor Stephen Dorff has found a way to tread through both the indie and studio movie landscapes throughout his career. For every Blade, World Trade Center, and Public Enemies on his filmography, there is a Cecil B. Demented, Felon (which is a fantastic and underrated drama, by the way), and Somewhere. Stephen Dorff's next big-screen appearance is the big-budget 3D adventure Immortals, which arrives in theaters nationwide November 11. The actor portrays Stavros, a shady thief who ends up as an ally to Perseus (Henry Cavill) in his quest to defeat King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke). I recently had the chance to sit down with Stephen Dorff to discuss Immortals, and much more. Here's what he had to say below.

Michelle Monaghan has signed on to star in the indie drama Fort Bliss. Variety reports that the actress will play a veteran of the war in Afghanistan in the pic written and directed by Claudia Myers (Kettle Fish). The story centers on a soldier who is sent home from the Afghani war after a long tour. Once stateside, she struggles to reconnect with her 5-year-old son. In addition to writing and directing, Myers will also produce the $2 million film alongside Brendan McDonald and Adam Silver. Production is set to begin next June in New Mexico. It sounds like an intriguing character drama, but films centered on the Afghanistan and Iraq wars have struggled to find audiences in the past decade. I think a small drama is the way to go, and it’ll be nice to see Monaghan stretch her acting chops in such a pic. The actress recently starred in Machine Gun Preacher,...
