The row over the BBC’s Gaza: How to Survive a Warzone documentary has just deepened.
Five hundred people from the entertainment world, including Match of the Day host Gary Lineker, Riz Ahmed, Ken Loach, Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett, and Game of Thrones actor Indira Varma, have put their names to a letter to BBC bosses calling on the corporation to “stop censorship on Palestine.”
The letter comes after the BBC removed from iPlayer the doc after it emerged that it was narrated by the son of a Hamas minister, information that the BBC said the doc’s producers failed to relay. The letter, which was also signed by actors Khalid Abdalla, India Amarteifio, Miriam Margolyes, Ruth Negga, and Juliet Stevenson, did not deny the narrator’s links to Hamas but said his father, Dr Ayman Al-Yazouri, served as Gaza’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture, a “civil service role concerned with food production.

Mudhar’s journey into high-profile Hollywood productions began in 2013 through veteran producer Barry Navidi, Pacino’s longtime creative partner. “My journey with ‘Lear Rex’ and ‘Modi’ began when I was introduced to Al Pacino through Barry Navidi,” Mudhar tells Variety. “At the time, I worked closely with Barry on ‘An Evening with Pacino,’ Mr. Pacino’s sold-out London show. This collaboration allowed me to build a strong creative and business rapport with Barry, which eventually led to my involvement as co-producer for ‘Lear Rex’ and executive producer for ‘Modi.'”

Netflix UK has assembled twelve top-tier British celebrities, who have subjected themselves as prey for a Bear hunt.
While it may not be a grizzly bear sniffing around for them, it may be worse. Edward Michael “Bear” Grylls, a British adventurer, TV personality and former British Special Forces soldier, will be on the hunt for the celebrity talent attached to the reality competition series.
Holly Willoughby hosts the Netflix show set in the Costa Rican jungle, where 12 celebrities, including Spice Girls alum Mel B and tennis legend Boris Becker, become prey for the legendary survival expert.
Each of the stars must prove how strong their sense of survival truly is as they navigate a brutal game of cat and mouse and are hunted down by Bear himself. Failure to work together and complete a challenge means an hour in the Bear Pit being hunted by Grylls. If caught, the celebrity will be eliminated.

Besides plenty of hit songs, Drake has established himself as one of the wealthiest rappers in the game. Despite some feuds, Drake’s net worth is certainly not something to diss.
While most people think of Drake (whose real name is Aubrey Graham) for his countless hits, the rapper has been in the public eye for most of his life.
Drake began his career as an actor, and he’s still remembered by many Degrassi fans for his portrayal of Jimmy on the teen drama. In the late aughts, the actor made the transition to music, and he’s become a global superstar.
Since pivoting to music, many of his records have been regarded as classics, like Thank Me Later and If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late. Throughout his career, Drake has broken and set streaming and Billboard records.

Harlan Coben's latest adaptation continues a positive Netflix trend for the acclaimed writer and executive producer. Missing You, which debuted on January 1, is among the most-watched shows so far this year on the platform.
Per FlixPatrol, the Coben adaptation debuted at No. 3 on Netflix's Top 10 most-watched series list and is still yet to drop below fourth place. Missing You's success continues the mystery novel writer's streak of wins since he inked a multi-million-dollar, 5-year contract with Netflix in 2018. Per the terms of the deal, the giant streamer would develop fourteen of his novels for the big and small screen, with Coben as executive producer on all projects. The deal was extended in 2022 following the arrival of The Stranger, The Woods, The Innocent, Gone For Good, Stay Close, and Hold Me Tight, all to varying degrees of acclaim. 2024's Fool Me Once was Coben's last adaptation to debut before his latest effort.

“Black Doves” and “Kaos” producer Jane Featherstone has admitted she is not “confident about the sustainability” of the high-end TV production sector in the U.K.
Featherstone, who is the COO of transatlantic prod-co Sister, was speaking as a witness into the U.K. parliamentary inquiry into the sector. Among the concerns she highlighted for U.K. production were increasing costs and budgets, changes in viewing habits and the way in which technology has turned the industry on its head.
“We’re now at a tipping point,” Featherstone told the Culture, Media and Sport committee. “Costs below the line have gone up around 40% and below the line is everybody. That is the production costs. So that doesn’t include cast, writers, producers; and those costs are called above the line. They’ve gone up even more, probably 50 to 60%. In the Netflix limited series “Missing You,” Rosalind Eleazar of “Slow Horses” stars as a woman seeking answers about the murder of her father — and her missing fiancée. It’s based on the novel by Harlan Coben, but set in England instead of in New York City.
It’s the ninth Netflix series based on the mystery writer’s novels and several cast members, and some of the cast, Richard Armitage and James Nesbitt, starred in previous series based on his works.
Here’s who plays who in the series, which is now streaming on Netflix, and where you might have seen them before.

The Blade Runner franchise received a long-awaited sequel in 2017 from Denis Villeneuve, and although it was hailed by many as another masterpiece, the film failed to make a splash at the box office. Since then, another big-screen installment has been out of the conversation, but audiences will be re-entering the futuristic neo-noir world soon enough. Amazon is currently developing Blade Runner 2099, a television series starring Michelle Yeoh that will serve as the latest sequel to Ridley Scott's original 1982 classic.
According to Discussing Film, Blade Runner 2099 has officially wrapped production, which took place in the Czech Republic. Alongside the 2023 Best Actress Oscar winner, Euphoria star Hunter Schafer is set as the co-lead for the upcoming Blade Runner sequel. The new British Netflix adaptation of another Harlan Coben novel, Missing You, is elevated by a strong, layered backstory and excellent performance from Slow Horses’s Rosalind Eleazar. That’s not to say the series is a hard-hitting drama, but the series version of a beach read that is meant to be a crime mystery that is light and entertaining rather than something gritty.
Yet, Missing You offers more for its audience than your typical streaming popcorn fare. The series, particularly in how director Nimer Rashed (Fool Me Once) and writer Victoria Asare-Archer (Stay Close) explore abandonment and turn it into something humanly fragile, can be simultaneously riveting and unexpectedly moving.

Paramount and 101 Studios have been forced to step in and save Christmas for dozens of construction workers on their upcoming Guy Ritchie series.
Deadline understands that at least 50 people who worked building the sets on the gangster show have been left unpaid to the total tune of around £250,000, but hopes are now high they will have the money well in time for the holiday.
The show, which has rolled cameras in London, stars Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan in two warring families whose enterprises stretch across all corners of the globe. Produced for Paramount+ with Showtime by 101 and MTV Studios, it is currently untitled but has had working titles The Associate and Fixer.
Construction of sets took place over the summer and the non-payment issue has emerged in recent weeks due to financial strife experienced by set construction firm Helix3D, which we understand is likely to enter liquidation.

“The current media landscape is in flux, and we believe this is the ideal time to build future facing companies. Drawing from our rich past experience, we are building in the present to shape the future,” said Benski.
“With content at the heart of everything today, I strongly believe talent, brands and IP are the multipliers. Our thesis is that there is a big opportunity to decouple the IP creation process by building studios and production companies around major talent,” he said.

Here’s the first glimpses of Adolescence, the Netflix crime drama series starring Stephen Graham, Ashley Walters and Erin Doherty.
The four-part series — from Graham and his regular collaborators Jack Thorne Philip Barantini — is notable for each episode being shot in one continuous take as the action unfolds in real time. It’s due to launch on Netflix next year and counts Brad Pitt among its exec producers. You can see the images above and below.
Adolescence will mark a first role for Owen Cooper, who plays a 13-year-old teenage boy who is arrested for the murder of a girl at his school. Graham (Boiling Point) plays his father and ‘appropriate’ adult, while Walters (Top Boy) plays a detective inspector and Soherty (The Crown) a clinical psychologist assigned to the case.
Faye Marsay (Game of Thrones), Christine Tremarco (The Responder), Mark Stanley (Happy Valley), Jo Hartley (After Life) and newcomer Amélie Pease also star.

Updated: Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan have officially signed on to star in the Paramount+ series from Guy Ritchie and Ronan Bennett.
It was previously reported that the trio were in final negotiations to join the show. The project had initially been developed with the title “The Donovans,” with plans to function as an across-the-pond spin-off of the Showtime series “Ray Donovan,” which was led by Liev Schreiber for seven seasons and a film adaptation. However, it has been reworked into a standalone series with no connections to that franchise. It was also previously reported that it was filming under the working title “The Associate,” but that is no longer the case.
Production is now underway in London, with the untitled show slated to debut in 2025 on Paramount+ with Showtime. The role reunites Hardy and Ritchie, who previously worked together on the 2008 film “RocknRolla.” It also keeps Mirren in business with Paramount,...

It was only when the team at Carnival Films decided they would fast forward The Day of the Jackal to the present day that things started getting interesting.
Carnival bosses Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant had toyed with the idea of remaking Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 historical novel about the fictional assassination of Charles de Gaulle for a few years but had always concluded that the 1973 movie version starring Edward Fox “cannot be bettered so why would you want to remake it,” according to Neame.
“We revere the film enormously but kept talking about [a remake],” he added. “It was such an intriguing, interesting idea and we couldn’t quite let it go.”
So in the midst of the pandemic, Neame and Marchant decided they would instil two obvious points of difference by making The Day of the Jackal into a 10-episode series and setting it in a 21st century milieu, with no...
