“American Love Story” at FX has found its first cast member.
Variety has learned from sources that Sarah Pidgeon has been cast in one of the lead roles for the upcoming anthology series, which was originally announced in 2021. As previously reported, the first season of the series will focus on John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. Pidgeon will star as Bessette.
Reps for 20th Television and FX declined to comment.
Bessette was raised in New York and Connecticut. After a brief modeling career, she went on to rise through the ranks at Calvin Klein, eventually working as director of publicity and dealing with the brand’s celebrity clients in New York. She began dating Kennedy in 1994 and the two were married in 1996. They were the subject of intense media scrutiny during their time together, with their lives frequently featured in the tabloids.

In “Adolescence,” there are no clear answers for why 13-year-old Jamie (Owen Cooper) murdered a female classmate. Yet in the final moments of Netflix’s hit limited series, Jamie’s parents shakily point at one culprit: Jamie’s online life.
“Look at that fella who popped up on my phone, going on about how to treat women and how men should be men and all that s–t,” Jamie’s father Eddie (Stephen Graham) says to his wife Manda (Christine Tremarco), in one of several offhand references to Andrew Tate, a self-proclaimed misogynist with a huge online following. “You can’t keep an eye on them all the time, love. We just can’t.”
The creators of “Adolescence” aren’t as evasive about what drove Jamie to murder in the four-episode show.
“It was someone I worked with called Mariella [Johnson] who said, ‘You need to look into incel culture,’” “Adolescence” writer Jack Thorne told TheWrap.

Mr. Wick is again trying to retire in John Wick: Chapter 4. The 2023 John Wick installment has Baba Yaga meeting old friends and making new enemies as the High Table hunts him down for everything he did in the last three movies. The nail-biter sequel to the action franchise is set in various international locations, including Japan and France, where its diverse cast impresses in fight sequences more gruesome than ever.
Some of Keanu Reeves' co-stars in the fourth chapter are seen from the first movie, like Ian McShane and Lance Reddick as the manager and the concierge of the Continental Hotel in New York City. New cast members like Bill Skarsgård and Natalia Tena are fantastic additions, and their characters steal the show in their scenes. Even newcomer Rina Sawayama shines in a minor role, leaving no doubt that the cast of John Wick 4 is outstanding.

Jessica Lange played the role of Constance Langdon in the first season of the FX horror anthology series American Horror Story, then returned to play Sister Jude Martin in season 2, Fiona Goode in season 3, and Elsa Mars in season 4, before reprising the role of Constance Langdon in season 8. Overall, she has been in 53 episodes of the show – and as far as she’s concerned, that’s enough. She has no interest in returning to the series.
The next season of American Horror Story will be the show’s thirteenth. FX ordered season 13 at the same time they ordered season 11 (which aired in 2022) and season 12 (which aired from 2023 into ’24) – and even though there’s no word on when we can expect to see the season, there’s already a lot of speculation going around that season 13 is going to be the end of the show. Don’t expect Jessica Lange to return to the American Horror Story universe anytime soon.
The actress appeared in five seasons of Ryan Murphy’s FX anthology series but Lange seems to be done with it.
While appearing at the Glasgow Film Festival for the premiere of Long Day’s Journey Into Night, an Irish radio station asked her if she would be returning to the horror series.
“Oh Christ, no,” Lange said. “I mean, I haven’t done it for more than 10 years, 12 years, so, no, I’m not doing it.”
The interviewer told Lange that Season 13 of American Horror Story could be the final one for the series and asked if that would move her to return.
“No,” Lange said with a laugh.

Jessica Lange was one of the earliest cast members of American Horror Story when the anthology series premiered in 2011. Some cast members have returned for future installments throughout the years, and new cast members have joined. Lange appeared in four more seasons, her last one being in Season 8 titled American Horror Story: Apocalypse. Lange's performance on the show was universally acclaimed, winning her an Emmy. Spin 1038 caught up with the actress in Dublin during the premiere of her new film Long Day's Journey Into the Night. They asked her if she would appear in the show, particularly in the upcoming thirteenth season. "Oh Christ, no," Lange said, confirming that she won't be in Season 13.

Will Jessica Lange return to “American Horror Story?” “Oh, Christ, no!”
That’s the candid response the actress gave to Irish radio station Spin 1038 at yesterday’s premiere of her new film, Long Day’s Journey into Night.
“I haven’t done it for more than 10 years, 12 years, so, no, I’m not doing it,” she explains.
Spin 1038 followed up by asking if she would return for the upcoming 13th season — rumored to be the final one — if asked. Lange offered a simple “no” with a chuckle.
Lange was a staple of the first four seasons of FX’s hit horror anthology between 2011 and 2015, earning her two Primetime Emmy awards. She guest starred in 2018’s eight season, reprising her original role as Constance Langdon.

Well, we still don't have anything to go on regarding what the 13th season of American Horror Story will be about, but one thing we do know is that star Jessica Lange will not be returning under any circumstance. She made that quite clear during a recent interview with Irish radio station Spin 1038 while promoting her new movie Long Day's Journey Into Night.
Lange was asked if she'd be on season 13 and she immediately replied, "Oh, Christ no," noting that she hadn't done the show in about 10 years or so and apparently has no desire to change that. Even when the follow-up question was if she'd go back if specifically asked to, Lange said no, making it clear she's done her time on the FX horror anthology.

People always talk about how they would give anything to go back in time and experience something for the first time again. Most people who long for time travel abilities easily remember what they want to go back in time for, but I am not one of those people. Athena Grant, meet Dr. Max Bankman.
On Thursday, March 20, the Ryan Murphy-created worlds of “9-1-1,” starring Angela Bassett as LAPD sergeant Grant, and “Doctor Odyssey,” led by Joshua Jackson as on-board cruise doctor Bankman, will collide in a special crossover episode of the soapy, seafaring medical drama.

After the cancellation of “9-1-1: Lone Star” at Fox, there’s a new series coming to Ryan Murphy’s emergency responder franchise: “9-1-1: Nashville,” set to premiere on ABC during the 2025-2026 season.
The news follows Variety‘s October report that a new “9-1-1” spinoff was in the works.
Though plot and casting details are yet to be shared, it can be assumed that the new “9-1-1” spinoff, like the flagship series and “Lone Star, will follow the work and personal lives of a team of first responders, this time in Tennessee.
“9-1-1” was created by Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear and premiered on Fox in 2018 before moving to ABC for its seventh season in 2024. Currently on its eighth season, the series is set in Los Angeles and stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Guzman, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi and Gavin McHugh.

From its clinical opening moments—a series of wide, indoor, static shots of a somewhat abandoned house in need of renovation—Harry Aspinwall’s feature film directorial debut, the coldly sparse chamber piece “The House Was Not Hungry Then” (2025), establishes the purely observational approach applied to its poltergeist horror story; an ominous sequence that not only displays the limited geography of the film’s single location, a coverage consisting of six different vistas but also lulls the audience into a sedated state of passive witnessing, assuming the role of onlookers.
The timing of this film is rather incidental, to say the least, for the minimal restraint and unobtrusive detachment in terms of presentation feel like an economic cross-breed between the visual gimmicks of two very recent movies by high-profile filmmakers: Robert Zemeckis’ deeply flawed and tedious technical exercise “Here” (2024), a centuries-spanning film shot entirely from a single angle, and Steven Soderbergh...

Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's pulpy, campy horror anthology series "American Horror Story" isn't for everyone, but fans of the show are fortunate in that there is now a lot of it to love. Since each season tackles a different subgenre within horror, everyone is bound to have favorites based on what kind of horror they prefer. Slasher fans might prefer season 9, "American Horror Story: 1984," which is set at a summer camp and riffs on classic 1970s and 1980s slashers, while fans of spooky, sexy, silly vampire stories might prefer season 5, "American Horror Story: Hotel." It's hard to objectively pick one best season because of the bias of subgenre preference (although we did try to rank the scariest seasons), but one way to see what's most beloved overall is to look at the user ratings over on IMDb.

There is a wildcard at every wedding, but in the case of “You’re Cordially Invited,” there are two. And they are played by Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon.
Now streaming on Prime, the film directed by Nicholas Stoller centers on two families who unknowingly double book their weddings at the same small inn — an inn that can really only accommodate one wedding. For Jim (Ferrell), it is his daughter’s, and for Margot (Witherspoon), it is her sister’s. Naturally, the two immediately go insane, trying to force the other to back down.
Somehow, Ferrell and Witherspoon have never led a comedy together, but they are doing it now with a very familiar cast.
Here are the major players you need to know.

As the investigation unravels, so does the truth about how even the closest relationships can change over time.”

Mel Gibson went almost a decade without directing a movie after his war drama "Hacksaw Ridge" hit theaters in 2016. The actor-filmmaker, whose other directorial credits include "Braveheart" and "Apocalypto," has now ended his dry spell with the release of his new movie "Flight Risk." It's a very minimalistic, contained thriller that takes place on a tiny plane and centers almost entirely on just three actors for the majority of its runtime. However, some familiar voices also pop up along the way, particularly for those who are fans of a certain classic CBS sitcom.
Gibson, it needs to be mentioned, is a controversial figure who has been accused of antisemitism, in addition to having a battery charge against his ex-wife, which is largely why he doesn't work as much as he once did. But he still does, indeed, get work in Hollywood these days, as evidenced by this thriller, which is being released by Lionsgate.

In the world of psychological horror, a new film is set to captivate audiences as Alex Essoe and Lou Taylor Pucci team up in ‘The Avalanche.’
The indie film, heralded by Deadline, marks the feature debut of Cuban-American filmmaker Johnny Coffeen, who previously served as assistant editor on ‘Short Term 12.’
The story plunges viewers into a chilling scenario where two ex-lovers find themselves trapped together following an avalanche.
Isolated from the outside world, the tension escalates as their past begins to haunt them, blending reality with paranoia.
The cabin becomes a stage for eerie apparitions and escalating fears, pushing the characters to question whether the true threat is outside in the snow or lurking within the walls surrounding them.
Johnny Coffeen is no stranger to the festival circuit, having directed several acclaimed shorts, including ‘The Swan Girl,’ which debuted at David Lynch’s Festival Of Disruption and earned a Student Academy Award.

Genre favorite Alex Essoe is adding another horror credit to her resume with The Avalanche.
Deadline reports that the actress has signed on to star in the indie film alongside Lou Taylor Pucci (Evil Dead), with principal photography set to begin this month.
Cuban-American writer-director Johnny Coffeen, who began as the assistant editor of Short Term 12, will make his feature debut on the psychological horror film.
The Avalanche follows two former lovers, played by Essoe and Pucci, forced together by an avalanche that cuts them off from the world.
“As the weight of their shared history begins to crack the thin veneer of civility, strange apparitions stir in the dark corners of their shelter. Reality and paranoia bleed together as buried secrets claw their way to the surface, leaving them to question whether the true danger lies outside the cabin—or within.”
Jamie Parslow produces with Emily Zercher and Shane Brady serving as co-producers.

James Bond might have its fair share of glamor and action, but some moments in the world's most famous spy franchise would not look out of place in a horror movie. The James Bond movies have occasionally experimented with other genres. However, this is not always a popular decision when it affects much of the film, like Die Another Day's unpopular foray into science fiction. That said, when James Bond enters the horror territory, the scares tend to last for a single scene, which becomes iconic when it is done well, even scaring Bond himself.
Of all the actors who have played James Bond, some, like Timothy Dalton, have done their own stunts while others have relied on doubles and visual effects. The franchise is famous for its stunts and daredevil vehicle chases, but the greatest James Bond stunts are generally awe-inspiring rather than horror-movie scary. When Bond embraces the horror genre,...

Prolific author R.L. Stine scared a generation of children into loving the horror genre with his “Goosebumps” book series. In the years since he released his first young adult novel in the early 1990s and became a staple of Scholastic Book Fairs, that initial audience has grown to have kids of their own to share the spooky stories with. And not only has the franchise expanded to include an impressive collection of thrilling literary tales, but there are also films and TV shows that are bringing the brand to all-new audiences.
In late 2023, Rob Letterman and Nicholas Stoller brought their version of “Goosebumps” to life on Disney+ and Hulu. The series starring Justin Long and an excellent ensemble of young stars modernized fan-favorite stories like “Night of the Living Dummy,” “The Haunted Mask,” and “Welcome to Horrorland” by targeting a slightly older audience than the original books and not shying...
