American politics may be a nonstop car crash right now, but wrapping “Shifting Gears” Season 1, Kat Dennings sounded hopeful. A self-described “curmudgeon,” the actress returned to the multi-cam format this spring opposite Tim Allen for ABC’s odd-couple comedy — about a father and daughter reuniting from across opposite sides of the aisle.

“I’m not what you call a super positive person,” Dennings told IndieWire after filming the season finale. “I kind of expect the worst, and then I’m pleasantly surprised. I don’t know. It’s a bad tactic. I need therapy. But I wasn’t expecting this kind of harmony on set.”

At 38, Dennings has spent nearly three decades working in film and TV. From playing Samantha Jones’ snottiest client on “Sex and the City” to co-starring in six seasons of the smash-hit “2 Broke Girls” on CBS, the veteran performer has seen her share of episodic productions.

Kat Dennings No, I wouldn’t agree with that. I can understand why, because there’s a conservative viewpoint from Tim’s character, but I think the fun of the show is the dynamic between Tim’s character and my character because they have completely opposing viewpoints.

NBC has given out a pilot order to the single-cam project “Stumble.”

The show is described as “A mockumentary about the ridiculously high stakes competitive world of junior college cheer.” The project was originally set up with a put pilot commitment at NBC in late 2024.

Jeff Astrof and Liz Astrof are writing and executive producing the pilot. Dana Honor is executive producing via Defining Eve Productions, with cheerleading coach Monica Aldama also executive producing. Universal Television is the studio.

Both Jeff and Liz Astrof, who are brother and sister, are veteran comedy writers and producers, but this marks the first time they have teamed up to create a series.

Jeff recently created the Starz series “Shining Vale” and previously co-created the NBC mockumentary series “Trial & Error.” His other credits include “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” “Grounded for Life,” and “Friends.”

Beth Behrs is reflecting on her time on The Neighborhood and is “grateful” to CBS for picking up the sitcom for one final season to properly say goodbye, unlike with 2 Broke Girls.

Behrs’ post comes after the eye network renewed the sitcom she co-stars in with Max Greenfield, Tichina Arnold, and Cedric the Entertainer for an eighth and final season.

“Most of my 20s were on 2 Broke Girls, almost all of my 30s were on The Neighborhood and I’ll usher in my 40s as we end our story,” Behrs posted on Instagram.

A guest spot on a television sitcom, especially one as insanely popular as "The Big Bang Theory," is basically television law. Kat Dennings is opening up about making her onscreen debut in Sex and the City.

The 38-year-old Two Broke Girls actress recently made an appearance on The View and reflected on her guest role on the HBO hit series at age 14, playing Samantha Jones’ (Kim Cattrall) wealthy heiress client Jenny Brier in the Season 3′s “Hot Child in the City” back in 2000.

“Well, it was very interesting because, of course, I wasn’t allowed to watch Sex and the City as a child,” she explained.

Tim Allen's beloved 1990s sitcom is finally coming to Netflix. Home Improvement ran for eight seasons on ABC, and was a hit with fans, who made it a ratings success for Disney. Even former President Jimmy Carter had a cameo on the show.

Home Improvement premiered in 1991 and followed the life of Tim "Tool Man" Taylor (Allen), the host of a local home improvement show who is married to Jill (Patricia Heaton) and raising three sons. The show ran until May 1999 and was created by Carmen Finestra, Matt Williams, and David McFadzean. It's classic 1980s and 90s sitcom fare that became popular early on.

The characters are what made Home Improvement such a hit. Those on the Tool Time show brought plenty of laughs, including Richard Karn as his co-host, Al, and Pamela Anderson as Lisa, prior to her famous role on Baywatch.

Tim Allen will return to the world of sitcoms when Shifting Gears debuts on ABC. The actor, who plays Matt Parker in the upcoming show, recently offered some insight into his new character.

"Matt Parker went to Rhode Island School of Design, and on his way to school, his dad had a massive heart attack," Allen told Screen Rant. "He had to come back to North Hollywood to take over the business and never became a designer. He never followed his dream, so there's that little frustration [about] what [his] life could have been. [He] had two kids. One's in the Navy, who we'll meet later, and then Kat Dennings [who is] wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. She plays my daughter, who left [home] in high school."

Conceptually, commentators would say, it’s a contradiction in terms, in that the purpose of comedy is to challenge systems of powers that conservatives, definitionally, seek to preserve.
