Disney has been remaking many of its animated classics over the past decade. The Jungle Book and The Lion King got live-action adaptations, with the latter even getting a prequel centered on Mufasa.

Following this trend, another beloved animated film is getting a live-action remake: Lilo & Stitch. The original 2002 film followed a young Hawaiian girl named Lilo Pelekai, and her older sister, Nani, adopting an alien. They thought it was a dog, not realizing it was a fugitive that the United Galactic Federation was hunting. The first full-length trailer has finally dropped, and here is what fans can expect from the new movie.

It’s here! The trailer for Lilo and Stitch’s live-action remake is here! Beloved blue alien creature Stitch comes back to life in an adorably fluffy form in this remake. The trailer was released on March 12, 2025, on the occasion of Chris Sanders’ birthday. Chris Sanders is the writer-director of the original cartoon show.

In the trailer, Stitch escapes from an alien space station, and he takes ‘the red one’ with him. He lands next to Lilo’s house. Lilo is a young girl who is often bullied and ignored by her peers. She wishes for a friend, and there comes Stitch. Lilo and her family take Stitch in. Stitch is a mischievous little creature who does not listen to anyone. He is sure smarter than other earthly creatures. The officials soon find Stitch’s location and try to get him back.

The history of Lilo & Stitch is so incredible that it is difficult to process how the movie ever got made in the first place. At a time of intense infighting at Disney and with little money and time to finish the movie, Christopher Sanders and Dean DeBlois delivered an animated film that, to date, remains one of the most beloved Disney movies of all time.

Even in its conception, Lilo & Stitch stands out due to its absurdly fantastic yet extraordinary storyline. The live-action “Lilo and Stitch” trailer was released today, and it looks so good! I was concerned about how it would look in live-action, but going by the trailer, there is nothing to worry about.

Take a look!

The casting for Lilo (Maia Kealoha), Nani (Sydney Agudong), and David (Kaipo Dudoit) is spot on. Chris Sanders, who originally voiced Stitch, is the voice of Stitch.

They are going to give Jumba (Zach Galifianakis) and Pleakley (Billy Magnussen) human disguises, which we figured they would. But we see Pleakley as CGI, too, and he looks spot on!

The CGI for this film is top-notch, and Lilo is adorable!

Oh, and Cobra Bubbles (Courtney B. Vance) is in the film. There were rumors that he would be changed, but they did not do that.

Unlike the reaction to “Snow White” the comments are mostly positive!

Disney just released the trailer for its next live-action remake, Lilo and Stitch. Although there are many (this writer included) who would say it's far too recent of a film to get a remake. However, the new footage does have a few perks.

There's no denying that Stitch himself has a very healthy fanbase. Next to Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh, he's probably one of Disney's most marketable characters. But will he be enough to bring in the box office bucks?

Lilo and Stitch: Fresh but familiar

Let's get the obvious out of the way, it looks great. The footage shown in the video above looks like what a live-action variant of this sci-fi classic should. In fact, the argument could be made that Disney should have made this a live-action film first. It's honestly one of the best first impressions the studio has given us in a long time.

Updated, March 12: Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch approaches, with chaos stemming from the blue creature and the young Hawaiian girl starting in theaters Memorial Day weekend.

“We have apprehended a dangerous experiment,” a commanding voice starts off the official trailer for the film. “Where is he?”

Subordinates answering to their leader in the command center of a spaceship report that “he escaped” after he found the police cruisers and “uh, took the red one.”

As Stitch cackles in the machine and enters the Earth’s atmosphere, Maia Kealoha’s Lilo spots his space ship from her home, thinking it’s a shooting star.

“I wish for a friend,” she says as the green glowing projectile hurtles toward the beaches of Hawaii, cutting to a sequence of Lilo getting pushed down during a hula lesson. “Like a best friend.”

Disney's live-action Lilo & Stitchfinally reveals its full trailer. Marvel Rivals players can transform their favorite heroes into their favorite characters, icons, and even famous singers thanks to a few nifty mods. While mods are nothing new to the title, more and more hero customization options have been popping up by the day, allowing players to choose from a plethora of anime protagonists, legendary pop singers, and more.

The three mods found around a week ago now are all created by different modders. The Stitch mod for Rocket was created by user Hallow, the Ariana Grande mod for Luna Snow was made by Yumii, and the iconic and horrifying Art the Clown mod for Wolverine was created by VinnyHaw. While these are not the only mods to change the appearance of heroes in Marvel Rivals, these are newer ones that players may not have seen yet.

Every time we hear that Disney is producing a remake from one of their properties a lot of fans online roll their eyes and let out a groan. Well, there’s a reason that Disney keeps pumping these remakes out! They are making a shit ton of money from them!

According to CNBC, Disney has made over $7 billion dollars off of their remakes since 2010. These movies are huge money makers and the Disney fans are obviously flocking to the theaters to watch them! These remakes all began with Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and that was followed by Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Oz The Great and Powerful, Beauty and the Beast, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Dumbo, Aladdin, and most recently, The Lion King.

Walt Disney Pictures will make sure nobody gets left behind in the upcoming live action Lilo & Stitch remake.

The alien Stitch has a badness level which is unusually high for someone his size, but he's also cute and fluffy. Walt Disney Pictures is working on a live-action CG hybrid version of Lilo & Stitch, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The remake will be produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback, who are producing Disney’s live-action Aladdin, which will be directed by Guy Ritchie, star Will Smith and should hit theaters in May 2019. The screenplay will be written by horror writer Mike Van Waes, who wrote The Crooked Man, based on a character from New Line’s The Conjuring 2, and Not in Kansas, a Wizard of Oz-themed horror film also coming from New Line. Rideback’s Ryan Halprin is co-producing.

Ajai's Stitch is another surreal entry into the horror genre. This title stars Edward Furlong and Shawna Waldron. Together, these two play a couple who head onto a healing retreat, after the death of their young daughter. Shirly Brener (Righteous Kill, Streets of Blood, Hit List) has nabbed the lead role in the Supernatural Thriller, Stitch opposite Edward Furlong for Thunderbolt Entertainment.

The film is directed by Adrian Ajai Mathai. Brener is simultaneously filming a supporting role in the comedy, Pendej opposite Danny Trejo. She most recently wrapped lead roles in the films “Hit List,” “Touched,” and “Sessions.” She is repped by Imperium 7 Talent Agency and Management Squared.

Penned by Maurice Billington, the film follows “A group of 4 friends- 2 couples travel to a seemingly odd location on a retreat in order to mend the loss of a child of one of the couples. Actor Edward Furlong may have missed a few steps over the last couple of years, but when this cat is on his game, he's really on his game. That's why we're rooting for him to get his shit together and are hoping that his next film, Stitch, is the first step of many in the right direction for him.
