President Donald Trump has called for PBS and NPR to be “defunded” immediately, referring to the publicly-funded networks as “a giant scam” and “arms of the radical left Democratic party.” “NPR and PBS, two horrible and completely biased platforms (Networks!), should be Defunded by Congress, Immediately,” Trump wrote in a late-night Truth Social rant. He continued, “Republicans, don’t miss this opportunity to rid our Country of this giant Scam, both being arms of the Radical Left Democrat Party. Just Say No And, Make America Great Again!!!” The President’s comments came amid a special congressional hearing on Wednesday (March 26), held by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-ga)’s Doge Subcommittee to interrogate PBS and NPR executives over claims of bias against the Republican party. PBS, which airs much-loved shows including All Creatures Great and Small, Call the Midwife, Finding Your Roots, Grantchester, and more, has long faced criticism from Trump,...

More drama awaits in the 1970s Poplar when Call the Midwife returns with Season 14 later this month on PBS in the U.S. As you would expect, the installment features pretty strong storylines, which series star Jenny Agutter recently noted, praising creator Heidi Thomas, particularly for Episode 1, which involves a teen pregnancy. Agutter, who has portrayed Sister Julienne, the Sister-in-charge at Nonnatus House, since the very beginning of the period drama, dropped even more captivating details about the season while chatting with TV Insider, teasing major changes to come in Poplar.
Season 14 of Call the Midwife “is a conclusion” to all the loose strings from the 2024 special and is centered on “poverty and all the social issues that come out of it, the abuse that might happen, the difficulties.” While the 60s in Poplar had “a lot of growth and optimism,” Agutter explains that the new era is not so positive,...

Hit Netflix drama “Adolescence” has shattered a significant barrier in the U.K. television landscape, becoming the first streaming show to claim the top spot in the country’s weekly TV ratings.
The critically acclaimed series outperformed traditional broadcast heavyweights including BBC’s “The Apprentice” and “Death in Paradise,” according to official data released by U.K. ratings body Barb (Broadcasters Audience Research Board).
The first episode of “Adolescence” drew 6.45 million viewers in its debut week, establishing a new record for streaming viewership in the U.K. This figure surpasses the previous streaming record of 6.3 million set by Netflix’s “Fool Me Once” in January 2024.
“Adolescence” demonstrated remarkable staying power with its second episode attracting 5.94 million viewers, while BBC One’s “The Apprentice” and “Death in Paradise” followed closely in third and fourth positions with 5.79 and 5.75 million viewers respectively. The third and fourth episodes of “Adolescence” also performed strongly, drawing 5.14 million and 4.65 million viewers respectively.

Welcome to 1970. In Call the Midwife Season 14, the groovy opener (airing March 30 on PBS) comes into the decade strong with storylines involving teenage pregnancy, political strikes, and more drama for the East London community of Poplar. Jenny Agutter, who has played Sister Julienne since the start, says that creator Heidi Thomas‘ Dickensian-style storytelling has created “quite a strong story” in the first installment, with a teen pregnancy that is handled in a way that only Midwife can. She’s referring to the plight of a 14-year-old with child who “becomes a problem for Dr. Turner [Stephen McGann] and the nurse,” teases Agutter, because her deeply religious family believes it’s an immaculate conception. “They try to get the girl to denounce the devil,” she adds. “It’s scary stuff.” Meanwhile, Sister Julienne and her longtime colleague Trixie (Helen George) are fighting back against a Board of Health that wants the...

If you thought HBO nearing a deal to cast Paapa Essiedu as Snape in their reboot of Harry Potter turned heads last week, wait until you hear this one. Jessie Cave, who portrayed Lavender Brown in the Warner Bros. films, has recently opened up an OnlyFans account, but the catch is you'll find no sexually explicit content on her page. Just hair… and lots of it.
"I'm going for a very pure aesthetic," Cave said in an Instagram video posted on March 10 (seen below). "Slutty Mormon." She's hoping to attract those folks with a hair fetish (known as trichophilia) to her page, where you'll find Asmr videos of her combing her long locks, playing with her hair, and doing everything else she can think of to cater to her niche audience. Cave has her reasons for embarking on this new adventure, which she says is to get out of debt and empower herself.

When it comes to cost and channels, Fubo and Sling TV aren’t the same — let’s break down the differences.
If you’re cutting the cord or dropping the dish, Fubo is one of your best live TV streaming bets when it comes to sports. Besides carrying most of the mainstream sports channels, Fubo also offers several sports add-on packs to bring additional international soccer, extreme sports, and more into your life. However, it’s also missing a few popular channels — you can’t have everything. In fact, one streamer designs its channel packages specifically for customers who don’t want everything.
Sling TV is a highly customizable streaming service that allows you to shape your own viewing experience with optional add-on channel packages based on movies, children’s programming, entertainment, news, and sports. Mad Dog’s parent company, Cinextra Limited, lists directors including CEO Graham Beswick.
“Equity would like to ask … how the Easi intends to use its powers to ensure that the individuals behind Mad Dog are held accountable for systematic breaches of their statutory obligations and treatment of artists, and so that they cannot continue their behaviour,” Fleming said.

Call the Midwife's fourteenth season has been packed with heartwarming drama, with the highs and lows of the midwives and nuns of Nonnatus House's recent lives providing much-needed escapist immersion in these cold months. In recent weeks, it seemed as if the drama dial was turned up a notch, with disciplinary hearings, romantic sparks, and, of course, medical emergencies leading the story. Because of this, another plot thread seems to have been put to one side, that being the relationship between Nancy (Megan Cusack) and Roger (Conor O'Donnell) and the upcoming nuptials.

When it comes to British historical dramas, very few can be said to have matched the popularity attained by Peaky Blinders, so it’s understandable why fans were excited for series creator Steven Knight’s latest venture, A Thousand Blows. Set in the underworld of late 19th century London, the six-episode series focuses on the real-life all-female thieves gang, The Forty Elephants, and highlights the transition period of boxing. A Thousand Blows is engaging enough to keep its viewers hooked throughout, and aside from a solid script and the authentic recreation of historical settings, a colorful ensemble of characters proved to be the major reason behind that. With a second season already greenlit, there is a possibility of the series gaining a cult following in the near future, and the continuation of a proper arc of the players involved will be something to look forward to.

They’re both channel-loaded and pricey, but Hulu + Live TV and Fubo couldn’t be more different.
Early in January 2025, Hulu + Live TV owner Disney and Fubo announced a plan to join forces. However, despite this planned move, the two streamers will remain separate and independent from each other. So even though Disney is set to own roughly 70% of Fubo if and when the deal goes through, we will continue to treat them as the unique live TV streaming services that they are.
Hulu + Live TV carries over 100 channels, covering a wide range of popular entertainment and sports networks, and comes with the added bonus of offering the Hulu and Disney+ on-demand libraries, as well as the live and on-demand sports programming of ESPN+. Fubo also features over 100 channels, but it’s missing several networks that you would expect from a cable replacement, like TNT, A&e, Discovery, and AMC.

When it comes to heartbreaking episodes, the BBC series Call The Midwifecertainly has its fair share, but one still stands out as the saddest of them all.
