I really enjoy the premise and animation style! There are so many references to different classic anime- Dragon Ball, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, even American animation like Ben 10 and Codename: Kids Next Door. If you're not a fan of anime in general, I can see the over-expressions being a little silly, but it's a silly show premise!!
The humor and visual eccentricities are PEAK. Andy as a main character feels very comfortable and likeable. Her goal is one that most everyone can sympathize with- feeling like there's something just at the horizon of your life that will change how powerfully you see yourself. Not to mention, how everyone's different experiences in life can help you on your own journey.

If your looking for another Dragon ball z show this is definitely for you. Even though this was originally going to air on cartoon network I'm pretty sure they reanimated some of the fight scenes to be more brutal. Their are so many scenes where you see Andy the main character holding on to her opponent and getting constantly pummeled with a fist to the face I'd imagine if they new they were going to air on Adult Swim this would be mixed with a lot of blood flying from the nose.
But yes, they fight more like MMA fighters then pro wrestling so I'm guessing that side of the story was to manage the violence level. Now, its not really needed but they still call it wrestling.
And you can def tell it was made for cartoon network cause as soon as the fighting stops the story and jokes are more like the stuff you'd find on that channel. But... this is a far better fit for Adult Swim then My Adventures with Superman which outside of some sexual tension, kind of felt out of place with the likes of ATHF, Morel Oral, Venture Bros, and Metalacolypse.
Fight Girl though isn't like those either. Its literally anime and would fit well along DBZ, Demon Slayer, or my hero acadimia. So if your looking for a better merging of western and eastern action this would be your jam.

I was iffy going into this show and ended up binging 8 episode. The story of a world rule by wrestling seemed like a weird premise but I was pleasantly surprised by the time I finished the 8th episode. THHHEENNN the 10 episode came out!!! Now I'M hooked!! Andy the main protag journey is full of ups and downs and does get into some really dark topics for an American cartoon show style as an anime??? There was some moment when the action seem to repeat. But that becomes less in the later episodes. Anyways worth the watch! Also A PLUS!! Happy to see more cartoon/anime with a black protag that's an actually badass!! 9/10!!

First let me say this show fights are well animated and the jokes are actually funny, i like the characters, andy is a good protagonist, the others are ok, i love the setting, the social commentary in the newest episodes about wrestling and the society expectations is a interesting premise, like my main question; is if people are born to fight, why do we see most people unsatisfied with it? It almost feel like the idea of a corrupt system that nurtures people into believing their role, just like andy supposed role was to be work in accounting, even if its a little formulaic, it has good structure to be something special, the pieces of lore and little introduction, the dynamics of the trio, like most shows the first season is a little weak but im sure if they can fund another one this show would deliver, it already has a good and earnest tone and a little more work around the edges would make something special.
