“Stranger Things” breakout Sadie Sink has joined the cast of Tom Holland’s “Spider-Man 4” at Sony, TheWrap has learned.
As with all things Marvel, details about Sink’s role are being kept under wraps, although unconfirmed online rumors suggest she will play Jean Grey from the X-Men. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers wrote the script.
The Tom Holland-led film will be directed by “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” director Destin Daniel Cretton. The movie will commence production in late 2025 after Holland finishes Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.”
Cretton was previously attached to direct the now-scrapped “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” before scheduling conflicts and the ensuing assault trial that surrounded Jonathan Majors arose. The filmmaker has an overall deal at Marvel Studios and even directed episodes of the upcoming “Wonder Man.”

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, the guy who blew us away in ‘Watchmen‘ and made waves in ‘Aquaman,’ is stepping up his game. He’s just locked in a multi-year deal with Sony Pictures Television through his company, House Eleven10. This isn’t just a side gig—he’s diving deep into producing and starring in new shows, and I’m already curious about what he’s cooking up.
The first project on the table is ‘Ghostman,’ a series based on a book by Roger Hobbs. Yahya’s playing the lead—a slick fixer who’s all about making problems vanish. But things get messy when a casino robbery goes south, leaving a pile of cash on the line and only 48 hours to sort it out. Oh, and someone’s out to kill him while he’s at it. Sounds like the kind of edge-of-your-seat drama we’d binge in a weekend.

We know the Marvel series Wonder Man is supposed to be released through the Disney+ streaming service sometime in 2025, we just don’t know exactly when it’s going to arrive yet. When it does, Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum says we’re in for a “very sincere, beautiful” show with an episode count of 8.
Wonder Man focuses on one of Marvel’s oldest characters, as title character Simon Williams was introduced back in 1964, in the pages of Avengers #9. “He began his comic book career as a villain but got reintroduced as a hero in the late 1970s. Wonder Man’s civilian name is Simon Williams, and he was a founding member of the Los Angeles-based West Coast Avengers. As an actor and stuntman, Williams’ look included wearing a turtleneck, a red jacket, and sunglasses. Wonder Man strongly relates to Marvel characters Vision and Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.

Disney+ will have a packed slate of new MCU shows this year. In addition to Daredevil: Born Again, which premieres on Mar. 4, Wonder Man is also set to be released this year. The series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the titular hero, along with Ben Kingsley reprising his role as Trevor Slattery, and Demetrius Grosse joining the MCU as Eric Williams/Grim Reaper. The first glimpse of the series was revealed in a wider Marvel Disney+ trailer late last year. The footage looked promising, but Marvel's Brad Winderbaum has given the show some incredibly hyperbolic praise.

"Wonder Man is eight episodes. It's a very new flavor for Marvel," the exec tells Collider. "It's straight from the minds of Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest. Honestly, it is one of my favorite things ever. I think it's the best show no one's ever seen, and I’m very excited to see the audience reaction to it. I think it's a...

The long-gestating Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringssequel remains on the docket despite its director being committed to another major Marvel Cinematic Universe project. Lead actor Simu Liu insists that, despite Destin Daniel Cretton working on Spider-Man 4, Shang-Chi 2 is on the way.
Speaking with Screen Rant, Liu stated that he's still in contact with Cretton despite his commitment to direct the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man 4. Though Destin is due to begin production on Spider-Man 4 soon, he and Cretton are filled with nothing but "excitement" about making Shang-Chi 2 happen. "I don't think anything's been impacted. I speak to Destin often and there's nothing coming out of both of us but excitement to make this film," Liu said.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 is reportedly going down Marvel’s preferred path. Despite Sony’s insistence on another multiversal storyline, reports suggest that the new film is far more grounded and probably will not feature any multiverse villains. The fourth McU-set Spider-Man film is reportedly drawing inspiration from another grounded superhero story in recent times.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, was a gritty thriller that did not have the grandeur of the Dceu Batman. However, it received an overwhelming response from DC fans, which suggests that viewers are accepting of such grounded stories amidst alleged superhero fatigue.

Henry Cavill was most recently rumored to play Richard Rider in the TV show Nova. Fans saw him last year as Wolverine in Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, and the cameo entry excited Marvel fans to the core. If Cavill’s role in the MCU is that of the first Nova, fans are in for a huge disappointment.

After featuring in two projects in 2024 and kicking off 2025 with Flight Risk, the aviation thriller directed by Mel Gibson, it’s shaping up to be a relatively quiet year for Mark Wahlberg. However, just because he might not be appearing in any projects the rest of the year doesn’t mean he isn’t still hard at work, and one of his movies in the works just got a major update. A new report from Deadline announced that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who will be seen later this year in Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man, has joined Wahlberg in the cast of By Any Means. The role originally belonged to Sterling K. Brown when the film was announced in October, but he has since departed the project and been replaced by Mateen II.

Marvel Television has paused development on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc., adjusting its production lineup as the studio focuses on its next phase. These projects had been in development but were never officially approved for production. The shift follows the release of Captain America: Brave New World and ongoing preparations for Avengers: Doomsday.
The Nova series had been moving forward with writers and a showrunner attached, though casting had not begun. The character’s connection to the Nova Corps, introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy, made it a project of interest, but no further expansion will take place at this time.
Strange Academy was planned as a series featuring Wong (Benedict Wong) training young sorcerers. Wong has appeared in multiple Marvel projects, including Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. With the series no longer proceeding, no details have been shared about the character’s next appearance.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been cast in By Any Means, an upcoming crime thriller directed by Elegance Bratton. He will star alongside Mark Wahlberg in a film based on real events involving a mafia hitman working with the FBI to track down those behind the killings of civil rights leaders in 1966 Mississippi.
The role was originally assigned to Sterling K. Brown, who exited the project due to scheduling conflicts. The film is based on CI34, a screenplay by Sascha Penn and Theodore Witcher, which appeared on the Black List, an industry-recognized collection of unproduced scripts. Witcher completed multiple revisions, with Bratton also contributing to the development process.
The project is backed by several production companies, including Hammerstone Studios, Thunder Road, and Freedom Principle. International sales are being handled by North.Five.Six., which introduced the film to buyers at the American Film Market. Producers include Alex Lebovici (Hammerstone Studios), Basil Iwanyk and...

Exclusive: Marvel Television has paused development on three projects: Nova, Strange Academy and Terror, Inc.
Sources stressed to Deadline that these projects were never officially greenlit, and may still come to fruition at some point. The studio has simply shifted its priorities at the moment.
We’re told the decision is also reflective of a new model for producing television that’s emerged at Marvel in recent years. Originally, Marvel approached series development in much the same way it handled features: a slate was announced, and what was teased was more or less what got made. A couple of years ago, senior leadership decided to retool the development process, as they were also revamping their new Daredevil series, Born Again.

The Vision series has added another intriguing member to its expanding cast. A report from Deadlineannounced that Ruaridh Mollica has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a recurring role in the Disney+ show. Ironically, the actor most recently appeared in the HBO original series The Franchise, which parodies the chaotic productions of giant superhero blockbusters. The Vision series will serve as the second spinoff to WandaVision, taking place after the events of the final episode, which saw the newly resurrected Vision fly off and leave Westview.
The report from the news outlet also states that Mollica will play a character named Tucker. Like most MCU projects currently in development, details about "Tucker" are being kept under wraps. Paul Bettany will reprise his role as Vision on his journey to regain his humanity, and the cast is rounded out with some familiar faces (and voices), with James Spader returning to voice...

Jac Schaeffer was originally going to take charge of Vision (which may or may not still be called Vision Quest) but moved on from the series to focus on Agatha All Along.
Vision is still expected to form part of the WandaVision "trilogy," though it feels like these shows are all building to the long-rumoured Scarlet Witch movie. If so, we'd bet on that adapting elements from Avengers: The Children's Crusade, as Wanda, Vision, Billy, and Tommy finally reunite.
Nexus Point News has spotted an update to cinematographer Christopher Ross' online résumé in which he lists Vision Quest as one of his upcoming projects. Interestingly, he also names the show's directors.
Showrunner Terry Matalas (Star Trek: Picard) will be part of the team stepping behind the camera, as will his 12 Monkeys collaborator, Christopher J. Byrne (American Gods).

We've ventured into a brand new year which means we get to look forward to a multitude of new titles from our favorite studios. For Marvel fans, that means there will be plenty of content from the Marvel Cinematic Universe on both the big and small screens, After a somewhat less busy 2024 in the cinematic department, 2025 will offer up Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, all of which are set to be pivotal pieces of the Multiverse Saga.
Ever since 2021, the studio has also been entertaining us on television, with multiple Disney Plus shows a year. Both live-action content canon to the franchise and animated shows that entertain us every bit as much, Marvel Studios have tried their hand at a bit of everything. And it's working.

As you probably know, Marvel Studios is gearing up to release Wonder Man, a new series on Disney+ in December 2025. Wonder Man introduces us to Simon Williams, a Hollywood actor who gains superpowers and becomes Wonder Man.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, known for his roles in Aquaman and HBO’s Watchmen, takes on the lead role. Joining him is Ben Kingsley, reprising his Marvel role as Trevor Slattery. The series is expected to have eight to ten episodes.
It’s part of Marvel’s Phase Six and will be released under the Marvel Spotlight banner, which focuses on more character-driven stories. This fact could be the key to delivering a very fresh show, which is also at the center of a recent rumor by a popular rumor mill.

Marvel Animation is set to break an MCU TV show record for the second time with the upcoming release of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Set in an alternate reality across the McU's multiverse, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will detail the origin story of Hudson Thames' Peter Parker as Spider-Man, exploring a narrative the live-action MCU hasn't touched, with a few twists. Set to premiere on January 29, 2025, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is the McU's next installment, and it's expected to break one major Marvel record.
Hudson Thames previously voiced Peter Parker's Spider-Man in What If...?, but will get the chance to develop a new iteration of the iconic Marvel wall-crawler from scratch in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Instead of Tony Stark becoming Peter Parker's mentor, Colman Domingo's Norman Osborn will fill this role, bringing an entirely new dynamic to the upcoming Multiverse Saga series. Should Spaceballs 2: The Search For Money come to pass, contemporary Star Wars will be a huge part of its satirical backlog.
Per Entertainment Weekly, actor-writer Josh Gad appeared on an episode of Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, where he discussed collaborating with Mel Brooks on a follow-up to his 1987 sci-fi spoof and updating the process of lovingly lampooning Star Wars media from the modern era. "Mel is incredibly involved. I'll share a funny story that I haven't yet shared," he said, recalling, "When we were pitching him the original conceit for what we wanted to do with the film, at the beginning he goes, 'I'm just telling you now, I want you to really go into detail because I don't know a lot about the new Star Wars films.' Per Entertainment Weekly, actor-writer Josh Gad appeared on an episode of Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, where he discussed collaborating with Mel Brooks on a follow-up to his 1987 sci-fi spoof and updating the process of lovingly lampooning Star Wars media from the modern era. "Mel is incredibly involved. I'll share a funny story that I haven't yet shared," he said, recalling, "When we were pitching him the original conceit for what we wanted to do with the film, at the beginning he goes, 'I'm just telling you now, I want you to really go into detail because I don't know a lot about the new Star Wars films.' And I said, 'okay.'"

HBO’s satirical superhero show, The Franchise, has been axed after just one season, despite the show’s largely positive critical responses. Created by Succession writer Jon Brown, the HBO comedy provided audiences with a behind-the-scenes look at the production process on a major superhero franchise. Taking aim at the assorted criticisms and real-world dramas that superhero movies have become renowned for, reviews for The Franchise have largely praised the show’s sharp wit and talented cast, earning it a 74% rating on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
Per Deadline, HBO has elected not to renew The Franchise for a season 2, despite November’s season 1 finale leaving the door open for a potential return. A spokesperson for the network has provided a statement about the decision, declaring that, while they will not be renewing the show for season 2, they look forward to the opportunity to work with Brown, executive producers Sam Mendes and Armando Iannucci,...

No original Avenger is confirmed for Marvel's 2025 lineup, but one needs to appear to resolve a glaring story issue. 12 years after The Avengers, only a few of the original team are still active in the MCU timeline. Iron Man and Black Widow sacrificed themselves to defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame and Captain America retired with Peggy Carter. Thor, Bruce Banner, and Hawkeye are the only original MCU Avengers left, and they still have more to do. However, it's unknown when these characters will return next.
The McU's 2025 lineup includes three movies and three Disney+ shows. Thor, Hulk, and Hawkeye aren't expected in any of these projects, but Hawkeye has connections to Thunderbolts* and Daredevil. While Hawkeye wouldn't have a starring role, the character needs to return in 2025 to address the narrative ties he has to these two projects.

What’s old is new again, as Marvel Studios plans for the future of its cinematic universe. After announcing that Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans would return for surprise roles in Avengers: Doomsday, a new rumor from industry leaker Daniel Richtman suggests Scarlett Johansson could also reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, for the upcoming superhero event film. Technically, Johansson’s character died while sacrificing herself to obtain the Soul Stone in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Still, when has that stopped Marvel from rewriting history to tell a new story?
Johnasson’s return to the MCU is a curious proposal. Following a dispute with Disney about the Black Widow solo film, she repeatedly said that she had no plans to play Black Widow again. However, time heals many wounds, and getting the band back together (plus a lucrative payday) could entice Johansson to suit up. While Downey...

The McU's Phases 5 and 6 will introduce several new Marvel villains and bring a few established antagonists back in 2025. Due to Marvel Studios' decrease in output, Deadpool & Wolverine stood alone as the only MCU movie released in 2024. Fortunately for the MCU, Deadpool & Wolverine became a massive hit at the box office, and it was accompanied by four similarly popular Disney+ shows: Echo, X-Men '97, Agatha All Along, and What If...? season 3. While Marvel won't reach the same output as previous years anytime soon, 2025 will see the release of more MCU projects, both on the big and the small screen.
In 2025, Marvel Studios' upcoming MCU projects include the theatrical movies Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, as well as the animated Disney+ shows Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart, Eyes of Wakanda, and Marvel Zombies, plus the live-action series Wonder Man. Phases 5 and 6 will...

Kevin Feige’s MCU will be bringing back Chris Evans for the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday and with the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, it seems like Marvel Studios is grasping at all strings to deliver a blockbuster. Since Avengers: Endgame, the franchise has been stumbling hard and has only had some spikes in its graph.
However, bringing back fan-favorite characters who have had their arcs completed may not be the best idea to improve the MCU. While it may have worked with Hugh Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine, Feige needs to do something else to make the franchise great again. Author George R.R. Martin may have given the perfect idea years ago.
