The Visual Effects Society just made the Oscar race for Best Visual Effects a lot more interesting, crowning Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes as its choice for top Photoreal Feature Tuesday night at the 23rd Annual Ves Awards. The Apes win came over a field that included heavy Academy Awards favorite Dune: Part Two along with Better Man, Mufasa: The Lion King, and Twisters.

Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, who is awaiting the release of his streaming period drama ‘Jubilee’, boasts of a diverse filmography with titles like ‘Udaan’, ‘Lootera’, ‘Sacred Games’ and several others.
Sharing the reason behind the versatility, Motwane said it’s his penchant to tell different stories that manifests itself in his filmography.
The filmmaker told Ians: “Interestingly, I never actively sought to make my filmography diverse. All I want to do is to break the patterns constantly as a storyteller and make films or webseries which appeal to the audience at large.”
Vikram is a “Bachchan fan” as he admitted and wishes not to be bound by the market dynamics.
“I want to tell as much stories as I can to the audience, mainstream, parallel, independent or not. Excellence can only be achieved if you take up new challenges and step out of comfort zone.”

Bollywood hasn’t had a very good run when it comes to superhero movies. While the “Krrish” trilogy and “Ra.One” were commercially successful chiefly because of their star power, they were generally disliked by viewers and critics alike and films like “Alag”, “Drona” or “A Flying Jatt” barely registered with the audience. In Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, Motwane goes full-tilt as an action director with relative newcomer Harshvardhan Kapoor in the title role as a vigilante superhero in a very conspicuous Led lit...
