Most characters' names are German words hinting at their personality or traits. "Frieren" means to feel cold, referring to the protagonist's always cool demeanor. "Stark" is strong, "Fern" is remote, distant, "Himmel" means heaven, "Eisen" is iron, etc. Antagonists are named along the same pattern. For example Draht means wire, and indeed, his weapon is a magical wire.

Absolute must watch

It's beautifully written and the depth of character as well as the development by far one of my favorites. Such a beautiful and stunning story. I wish they made more stories like this one. It's been a long time since I've watched an anime with such vigor and awe.

To anybody wondering if this story is worth third time this by far has some of the best writing that I've seen in a long time. The contrast between the different character developments is staggering. It brings new perspective to friendship and love the characters are well thought out and deliver an impactful series full of emotion and wonder.
