The unionization of production company Kirkstall Road Enterprises in 2012 was one of the earliest victories for the Hollywood writers’ union when it came to organizing the Wild West of reality television. It was the heady era of Jersey Shore, Duck Dynasty and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and, though it was a modestly sized group of workers, the successful drive at The First 48 producer was a notch in the Writers Guild of America East’s belt as it sought to make inroads in nonfiction.
Twelve-plus years later, however, these workers still don’t have a first union contract — and neither do their colleagues at fellow ITV America subsidiary Leftfield Pictures (Pawn Stars, Alone), which unionized just a few years later, in 2015. Now, as it’s making some fresh headway in nonfiction after years of starts and stops, the WGA East is applying renewed pressure.

Duck Dynasty is returning to A&e this summer with many of the original stars along for the ride, but fans are eager to find out if the beloved Uncle Si will be back too. Korie Robertson and her daughter Sadie Robertson answered that question on the latest episode of their Whoa That’s Good podcast, with the former confirming that the popular Uncle Si will be taking part in the highly-anticipated reboot. “Is Uncle Si gonna be on the show?” Korie said before answering, “Yes, you will see Uncle Si on the show.” She added, “So much has changed. We’ve got a lot to catch people up on.” Fans had been worrying about Uncle Si after a social media video shared last May showed him hooked up to oxygen. Given health concerns about him, many long-time Duck Dynasty viewers thought he might not be able to participate in the new series.

A&e is rebooting — rebilling? — one of its most popular series from the 2010s with a new iteration of Duck Dynasty.
The new show, titled Duck Dynasty: The Revival, will once again follow the Robertson family as Willie and Korie Robertson focus on plotting the future for the family’s Duck Commander business and watch their own children deal with the challenges of adulthood. A&e has ordered two 10-episode seasons of the show, the first of which is set to premiere in the summer.
The revival of Duck Dynasty will debut some eight years after the original series aired its last episode in March 2017 after 11 seasons in five years. Duck Dynasty is back – eight years after it was canceled and ended up in the middle of a legal battle.
A&e is bringing the series back with Duck Dynasty: The Revival with a two-season order of 20 episodes in total. It will premiere in the summer.
The new season will focus on Willie and Korie Robertson and their growing family of adult children and grandchildren, the next generation of Robertsons living on the family homestead in Louisiana.
It will not, however, feature Phil Robertson, the controversial patriarch of the family, who has said some things in the past that have been homophobic and was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
The show also has a new production company; it will be produced by Wheelhouse’s Spoke Studios and Willie and Korie Robertson’s Tread Lively Productions.
This comes after legal trouble at Gurney Productions, the ITV-owned company that originally produced the series.

Duck Dynasty premiered back in March 2021 and revolved around the lives of the Robertson family as they ran their family-operated multi-million-dollar recreation business, Duck Commander. The reality TV show followed the journey of Phil Robertson, a former football star turned outdoor enthusiast who began the business in the 1970s. Along with his wife, Miss Kay, and their four sons, the show featured Robertson navigating the highs and lows of running a business while staying true to his Southern roots. In many ways, Duck Dynasty was about the Robertson family’s larger-than-life personalities and the tight-knit bond they shared.

After a handful of appearances as Guy Fieri on Weekend Update, Bobby Moynihan took the impression to a whole new level on a December 2013 episode of SNL. The pre-taped fake Food Network promo began with Moynihan’s Fieri cackling like a madman while promoting “Guy Fieri’s Full Throttle Christmas Special,” co-hosted by Kid Rock (Brooks Wheelan), who enters via chimney.
Fieri/Moynihan then goes on to name-drop an insane parade of early 2010s reality TV personalities as the special’s guest stars — Criss Angel, Bret Michaels, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Big Ang from Mob Wives, the casts of Duck Dynasty and Pawn Stars — as well as, for no reason whatsoever, Verne Troyer and Mimi from The Drew Carey Show.
The promo also features the most insane Guy Fieri-like Christmas recipes imaginable, such as a stocking filled with bean dip and “Straight Cake” — as opposed to fruit cake — made from bacon and Matchbox cars.

There is more worrying health news about Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson. Son Willie Robertson has revealed to Fox News Digital multiple new issues the family patriarch is facing, after it was recently revealed he was battling Alzheimer’s. Willie said that his dad is “battling a lot of things right now” including, “a blood disorder, and then he’s got the mental issues that could be early [on-set] Alzheimer’s … and probably some mini-strokes because of his blood.” The Duck Dynasty star didn’t share the specifics of the blood disorder but said it was causing his father to produce “too much blood,” making it thicker. This could be a possible source of the mini-strokes he may have had. The initial news of the 78-year-old’s Alzheimer’s and blood disease diagnosis came from two other sons Jase and Al Robertson, during the December 6 episode of the Unashamed podcast. Willie...

“It’s very scary.”
In separate interviews, three veteran nonprofit executives used the same phrase to describe the future of public media in the United States under the next Trump Administration. While agencies are currently funded through 2025, the attacks are fierce.
The GOP Is Out for Blood
In April, president-elect Donald Trump called National Public Radio (NPR) “a liberal disinformation machine” and vowed to never give it a penny while Congressman Scott Perry (R-pa) introduced the “No Propaganda Act,” a bill that aims to prohibit federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (Cpb).
