Netflix has greenlit an untitled supernatural creature series from Jesse McKeown, a veteran screenwriter on hit TV series like The Umbrella Academy and 19-2.
Danielle Woodrow and Tara Woodbury, directors of content for Netflix Canada, said of the commission on Thursday: “Jesse’s bold, ambitious vision offers thrills galore, with the heart of a family drama. We can’t wait to transport our members to coastal Newfoundland with this timely story about community, resilience and adaptability.”
McKeown’s TV writing credits include The Big Charade, Robson Arms, Rogue, Republic of Doyle and DaVinci’s Inquest. The Canadian limited series will be set and be shot in Newfoundland, on the country’s Atlantic coast as the six-parter will center on a mysterious sea creature terrorizing a remote town, with a hard-bitten fisherman having to fight to protect his family, his community and his vanishing way of life.

Nintendo has a long history of comics, but it has let several of its biggest properties die out in publishing over the years. I've read more than my share of Kirby, Animal Crossing, Legend of Zelda, and Pokémon manga and comics. However, Nintendo has severely limited its storytelling potential by leaving its biggest properties to remain solely manga or dropping them altogether from the comic medium.
Given that Nintendo is a Japanese video game company, it makes sense for it to have primarily branched out its biggest properties to manga. However, in the early 90s, official Nintendo comics were also being published by Valiant Comics. These were short-lived and have failed to make a comeback. Yet there is no shortage of readers who would love to have more comics specifically from Nintendo, similar to the way Sega fans have been supporting Sonic the Hedgehog at Idw Comics.

Blondshell, the recording project of Sabrina Teitelbaum and our 2023 Rookie of the Year, has announced her sophomore album, If You Asked for a Picture (out May 2nd via Partisan Records). As a preview, Teitelbaum shared the single “T&a.” Watch the music video for the new song below.
If You Asked for a Picture arrives as the follow-up to Blondshell’s well-received self-titled debut. For the new set, the songwriter once again teamed up with producer Yves Rothman to craft hooky, grunge-tinged guitar tunes. The project takes its name from the 1986 Mary Oliver poem “Dogfish,” which explores the tricky nature of sharing personal stories — a topic Teitelbaum herself continues to grapple with.
“There’s a part of the poem that says: ‘I don’t need to tell you everything I’ve been through. It’s just another story of somebody trying to survive,’” Teitelbaum says. “Something I love about songs...

Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films live-action Masters of the Universe reboot is circling Idris Elba to play one of He-Mans key allies. Serving as the second live-action adaptation of Matte's popular line of He-Man action figures, the property has long struggled to reboot the much-maligned 1987 movie that starred Dolph Lundgren as the heavily muscled prince of Eternia. After plans for a Netflix movie starring Kyle Allen were scrapped in 2023, Amazon MGM Studios would later step in to develop their own version, led by Bumblebee director Travis Knight, which is currently slated for release on June 5, 2026.
Now Amazon MGM Studios have announced that Elba is currently in the final stages of negotiations to join the Masters of the Universe cast as Duncan, Aka Man at Arms. Darkest Dungeon 2 is all about making the most out of a bad situation. Defeat isn’t inevitable, but it’s certainly likely. The best heroes in the game can help you survive some otherwise impossible situations, but your foolish hopes of victory demand the best team comps.
Darkest Dungeon 2‘s versatile team-building system allows you to explore so many possibilities. Some parties have obvious synergies (and even special team names), but there are so many ways to make a viable team. As such, it’s nearly impossible to identify the absolute best team possibilities so early into the game’s lifespan. Of course, that is something that we’re at least going to try to do as more of the game is explored and “solved.”
For now, though, let’s take a look at some of the best available comps for the very start of the game, the mid-game, and the late-game.

In a commentary track on a "Futurama" DVD, voice actor Billy West reveals that his voice for Dr. Zoidberg -- the clueless, revolting, dumpster-dwelling lobster medic -- was partially inspired by 1940s Hollywood impresario George Jessel, one of the producers on the original "Nightmare Alley" and an actor in films such as "Four Jills in a Jeep" and the bawdy 1969 Anthony Newley musical "Can Heironymus Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe and Find True Happiness?" When series creator Matt Groening incredulously asks West how he knows who George Jessel is, West shoots back with his own age (West was born in 1952).
Fun trivia: Eddie Cantor once joked that his gravestone should be inscribed with the poem "Here in nature's arms I nestle, free at last from Georgie Jessel." Jessel, not to be outdone by the burn, was actually buried next to Cantor.
