The nominations for the 2025 BAFTA TV Awards have been announced!

The annual awards event recognizes the excellence in British television of 2024.

Baby Reindeer and Mr Bates vs The Post Office led the nominations this year with four each followed by Say Nothing, Rivals, Slow Horses, Mr Loverman, and The Traitors, all with three each.

The 2025 BAFTA TV Awards are scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 11 at the Royal Festival Hall in London, England and will air live on BBC.

Netflix's Emmy Award-winning Baby Reindeer led the 2025 BAFTA TV and Craft Awards nominations on Thursday with eight bids, including Best Limited Drama, a lead actor nomination for creator and star Richard Gadd, and two supporting actress nominations for Jessica Gunning and Nava Mau. The limited series won several honors last year and through the winter, including Emmy Award wins for Gadd and Gunning, and a Screen Actors Guild Award victory for Gunning.

Three shows tied for second behind Baby Reindeer with six nominations: ITV's Mr. Bates vs. the Post Office, Disney+'s Rivals, and Apple TV+'s spy show and Emmy winner Slow Horses.

Fallout and Nobody Wants This ended 2024 as the top new original drama and comedy in streaming, respectively, Nielsen said Monday in a recap of the year.

Nielsen said preschool mainstay Bluey, Netflix drama Bridgerton and Disney animated feature Moana were the year’s top overall streaming titles. The Big-Bang Theory was named “most-binged title,” while Little House on the Prairie and Gunsmoke took home awards for “legacy” viewership.

The measurement firm presented its year-end findings in the form of a newly christened set of prizes: the Artey Awards. The name is both a nod to company founder Arthur C. Nielsen and an acronym for Audience Rated Television Entertainment of the Year.

In handing our ARTEYs, which succeed prior years’ “Streaming Unwrapped” reports, Nielsen noted that overall streaming surged 10% in 2024 over 2023 levels. The cumulative tally surpassed 12 trillion minutes, or the equivalent of 8.4 billion days or 23 million years.

“Bluey” and “Grey’s Anatomy” were the most-streamed programs of 2024, according to a year-end Nielsen report. The Australian preschool program racked up 55.62 billion viewing minutes on Disney+, while the long-running hospital drama nabbed 47.85 billion across Hulu and Netflix.

Animated series on Hulu took the next two spots — “Family Guy” with 42.44 billion minutes viewed and “Bob’s Burgers” with 36.80 billion — followed by “NCIS” with 35.91 billion across Netflix, Hulu and Paramount+. “Young Sheldon” and “The Big Bang Theory” ranked at No. 6 and No. 7, followed by “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Criminal Minds” and “SpongeBob SquarePants.”

Streaming in general was up 10% from 2023, with 12 trillion minutes in total. That equates to about 8.4 billion dates, or 23 million years’ worth of watching.

No originals debuted on the overall streaming top 10 chart. Netflix’s “Bridgerton” led that list with 21.42 billion viewing minutes, followed by the streamer’s dating series “Love Is Blind” with 16.45 billion. Rounding out the originals chart are “The Boys,...

Spacey Unmasked, the Channel 4-Max documentary series detailing new allegations against the double-Oscar winner, has been nominated at the prestigious UK Grierson Awards, as the shortlist in each category is whittled down from eight docs to four.

Spacey Unmasked is nominated in the new Best Popular Culture Documentary category, which depicts people, events, movements or trends that have had a major impact on popular culture in recent years. The series is up against Arena – Being Kae Tempest, Big Zuu Goes to Mecca and Milli Vanilli, the latter of which is also nominated in the Best Music Documentary category.

Exclusive: Alysia Russo, who was Head of Docuseries at Amazon MGM Studios, is moving to Netflix.

It marks a rare senior executive moving directly between two rival studios.

Russo is understood to be working on feature docs at Netflix. While there are two executives from this team on maternity leave, Russo’s role is unrelated and is a temporary contract, thought to be 18 months.

Russo was behind Amazon docuseries such as LulaRich and its upcoming Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story, which comes from the producers of ID’s Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.

Her move comes less than four months after a restructure within Amazon MGM Studios.

In May, Russo’s boss Lauren Anderson, who was Head of AVOD Programming and Studios Unscripted across U.S. Prime Video and Amazon Freevee, was named Head, Brand and Content Innovation, but continuing to oversee the AVOD originals team.

There was a time when Netflix was the only streaming service, before other big studios entered the market and stopped its monopoly. Since then, the streaming platform had to find new ways to attract viewers, aside from its titles, and has become more transparent about its viewership numbers.

In late 2023, Netflix released its first engagement report called What We Watched, which covered the first half of the year. In May 2024, the second half arrived, with the streaming releasing its third edition in September 2024, covering the months between June and January 2024. Speaking at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York City ahead of the release of the engagement report, Netflix co-ceo Ted Sarandos challenged other streaming competitors to be more "transparent" when it comes to its viewership numbers, per Deadline.

‘Baby Reindeer,’ ‘Bridgerton,’ and ‘Fool Me Once’ were the most-watched titles on Netflix as revealed by its latest data dump.

Netflix is putting its money where its mouth is. Company co-ceo Ted Sarandos harangued other streaming executives this week for not being more transparent, and Netflix followed up his words by following through with another data dump regarding how much viewership it received in the first half of 2024. British TV was the biggest genre of the year for the streamer, with titles like “Bridgerton,” “Fool Me Once” and the controversy-generating “Baby Reindeer” compiling tens of millions of views.

The theme song for Netflix’s data dump for the first half of 2024 might as well be “Rule, Britannia.”

Four U.K.-produced series are at the top of the streamer’s internal rankings for January to June, led by Fool Me Once with 107.5 million views worldwide over the course of those six months. Season three of Bridgerton (91.9 million views), Baby Reindeer (87.6 million) and The Gentlemen (75.9 million) round out the top four.

All told, Netflix’s 280 million subscribers watched 94 billion hours’ worth of programming on the service in the first half of the year, up from about 90 billion hours for the second half of 2023. Netflix saw a British invasion in the first six months of the year — with four of its 10 biggest shows globally in the first half of 2024 coming from the U.K.: “Fool Me Once,” the Emmy-winning “Baby Reindeer,” “The Gentlemen” and “One Day.”

In addition, Shonda Rhimes’ U.K.-set “Bridgerton” Season 3 was the No. 2 most-watched show worldwide from January-June 2024. The season notched a whopping 91.9 million views in less than two months following its May 14 premiere. All told, shows in the “Bridgerton” universe garnered 189 million views in the first half of 2024; views in the six-month period for “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” hit 24 million (doubling versus the second half of last year) while views of of “Bridgerton” seasons 1 and 2 jumped fivefold compared with the prior six months.

Netflix released another round of viewership data Thursday afternoon revealing its most-watched films and shows across the first half of 2024.

On the film side, the pack is led by the Millie Bobby Brown-starring Damsel, which clocked more than 143 million views globally, according to the data. The film, also starring Robin Wright and Angela Bassett, was released on the streamer in April and opened strong clocking 35.3M views in just three days of availability.

In second place is F. Gary Gray’s Lift, starring Kevin Hart and Sam Worthington, which clocked 129 million views. The third title on the expansive list is J. A. Bayona’s Society Of Snow with 103 million views. The Spanish-language flick debuted at last year’s Venice Film Festival and was Oscar-nominated. After Society Of Snow, the contemporary shark flick Under Paris clocked 84 million views while Brooke Shields’s romcom Mother of the Bride was watched by 77 million.

“Damsel” and “Fool Me Once” are taking the titles of the most-watched movie and show on Netflix in the first half of 2024.

Specifically, the Millie Bobby Brown movie was viewed 143.8 million times for a total of 263.7 million hours. As for “Fool Me Once,” it was viewed 107.5 million times for a total of 689.5 million hours.

On the movies side, the Kevin Hart and Billy Magnussen heist comedy “Lift” was more widely viewed than “Fool Me Once,” securing 129.4 million views. That was followed by the third most-watched titled “Society of the Snow” at 103.8 million views as well as “Under Paris” at 84.7 million views and the Universal Pictures movie “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” at 80.3 million views.

Harlan Coben adaptation Fool Me Once led the pack in the first half of 2024 with more than 100 million views globally, just ahead of the third season of Bridgerton on 91.9 million. Bridgerton had an epic six months, with its first and second season also making the top 20 with 38.4 million and 34.2 million views globally. Shonda Rhimes’ show is commissioned out of the U.S. but made in the UK with British acting talent.

After Bridgerton Season 3 came Baby Reindeer – the controversial smash series that is currently subject to a lawsuit – watched by 87.6 million, with The Gentlemen next with 75.9 million.

The popular Tortoise pod delivered a huge twist. It told the story of how broadcaster Kirat Assi became embroiled in an impossibly complex web of deception that lasted for more than a decade and involved many fabricated characters.

When Kirat met ‘Bobby’ on Facebook and embarked on a long-distance relationship with him, she believed she had found the love of her life. As it evolved from a friendship to an increasingly controlling romantic relationship, Kirat became subsumed into a web of deception, as Bobby’s explanations for why they couldn’t meet face to face became more and more extreme.
