RuPaul's Drag Race is notorious for its marriage of pop culture and drag. Whenever the show can throw a pun into a topical reference, it helps bring that spark to the campy art we know and love. During its seventh season, RuPaul invited eight of her best and brightest winners to compete for an all-winners season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars. With such a heightened excitement already infused into the season, the show needed to keep audiences gagging. What better way to gag the fans than by gagging the queens!

Lucky Starzzz is RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17’s first casualty, and much like the show’s passionate fan base, we’re trying to understand how this decision was made.
We’re sure it wasn’t what Lucky thought was written in the starzzz, but we can do nothing about it.
The MTV reality staple kicked off its latest season earlier this month. It completely revamped the format by keeping the cast intact until the third episode and even threw in a twist to save eliminated queens.
In many respects, it gave the cast more time to interact with each other and come out of their shells before we got to the nitty gritty.
It’s always infuriating when someone goes before they’ve reached their full potential, and that’s precisely what happened with Lucky.
Even after the third episode, she had so much more to give the competition,...

7 Times Reality TV Show Villains Got Redemption Arcs - Main Image
Reality TV shows give viewers a glimpse into the lives of their stars, and as certain story tropes emerge, audiences naturally perceive some of them as villains.
While these series may not follow the traditional hero-versus-villain narrative, many characters display egos, aggression, or a disconnection from others that leads viewers to see them as antagonists.
However, over time, even the most despised figures can redeem themselves by embracing personal growth—whether through forging new friendships, revealing moments of vulnerability, or admitting their mistakes.
With that in mind, here are 7 times reality TV show villains experienced redemption arcs.

Nick Viall was initially perceived as a villain due to his aggressive pursuit of love and confrontational moments on The Bachelorette, particularly with Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe.

Television shows have a different feel to them than movies. Their unique rhythm of storytelling over several seasons creates a sense of familiarity for the audience. Viewers gradually connect with the story and characters on a deeper level, which is not possible in the compressed manner of film narration. This is especially due to the episodic format of narrative in TV shows. Some shows have nailed this narrative format and brought forth some of the best episodes of television history.

Drama remains the dominant television genre, both in terms of the number of available titles and overall popularity. This trend holds true in the streaming landscape as well, where drama shows continue to be the most in-demand genre in the U.S. However, this dominance has shown signs of waning in recent years, as audiences begin to explore a wider range of genres.
In the first quarter of 2022, drama shows accounted for nearly half of the Top 100 most in-demand streaming originals in the U.S., according to Parrot Analytics’ Content Panorama genre system, which categorizes each title by its best-fitting genre. By the third quarter of 2024 (with data available through mid-September), this share had declined to 45.5%.
Comedy has experienced a similar trend. In the first quarter of 2022, comedies made up 26.3% of the Top 100 shows, but this share has dropped to 21.2% in Q3 of 2024. Together, drama and comedy represented over three-quarters...

Nina West can thank a phone call from friend Zelda Williams for her biggest acting opportunity to date.
“Zelda Williams calls. ‘My friend has you on their vision board for this movie. Would you be Ok if I introduced you?’” recalls West, the drag queen who is also known as Andrew Levitt.
Their mutual friend was Tina Romero, a filmmaker and daughter of late zombie maestro George A. Romero, the revered Night of the Living Dead director.
The younger Romero wrote West a note, recalling how before her father’s death in 2017, she received his blessing on her own project, a movie called Queens of the Dead. The horror-comedy centers on drag queens and club kids battling the undead during an outbreak at a drag show in Brooklyn. Would West want to be a part of the movie?

Megyn Kelly vehemently rejected Vice President Kamala Harris’ Thursday appearance on the finale of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” calling the show “disgusting” and “blatantly misogynistic” while adding that she has no right to be weighing in on how “weird” Donald Trump’s running mate Jd Vance is.
“She wants us to listen to her on what’s weird? Not a word of condemnation for that, an endorsement of the show, an appearance on the show,” Kelly decried.
On Monday’s episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Kelly sat down with conservative political pundit Ben Shapiro to discuss the “reinvention” of Harris since she replaced President Joe Biden as the presumptive Democratic nominee going into November’s presidential election.

Sometimes, history just has a way of repeating itself. This can be good or bad in a reality series like RuPaul's Drag Race: All-Stars; created by the Queen of Drag herself, RuPaul Charles. This spin-off of the historic RuPaul's Drag Race brings back former contestants to take another shot at winning the illustrious Hall of Fame crown. For some, this means continuing the positive showings that aired in their original seasons. For others, it's a time of great redemption as they come back and perform better than they ever had before - and for some, it's just more of the unfortunate same.
