Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul and 3 Body Problem's Eiza González have teamed up for a sci-fi horror movie that's off to a strong start on Rotten Tomatoes after its SXSW premiere. After becoming a household name with his roles of Scott in HBO's Big Love and Jesse Pinkman in AMC's acclaimed crime drama, Paul has gone on to explore a wide array of genres on both the big and small screens, including the video game adaptation Need for Speed, Ridley Scott's biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings, and the sci-fi thriller comedy Dual, in which he co-starred with Karen Gillan.

Being successful on television is not a guarantee that you can parlay that success onto the big screen. It's an undeniably true aspect of Hollywood that while some people may be fortunate enough to jump to and from the small and big screens with ease, encouraging audiences to make the leap with them, many others can only find true success in one medium.
One of the many thrills of the seminal AMC drama "Breaking Bad," for example, was not just in watching Bryan Cranston, formerly so well-known for being so cartoonish and outrageous on the Fox sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle," evoke self-involved villainy as Walter White. It was also in watching Cranston's co-star, Aaron Paul, as the hapless small-time meth dealer Jesse Pinkman, struggling to make a name for himself and potentially go straight, even as the man who would be Heisenberg dragged him further to the brink.

The video game movie curse has been running rampant for years as popular games get adapted into films that are largely inferior to the playable source material. It has become a continuous trend that worries fans, since their favorite games could have disliked adaptations. The curse happened again recently with Borderlands, which people already want a do-over for, and many fear it will strike again with the upcoming releases of A Minecraft Movie and Until Dawn.
However, some adaptations that failed in the past have gotten a second shot in recent years. The 2021 reboot of Mortal Kombat and the commercially successful animated flick The Super Mario Bros. Movie are great redemption examples. Those games had prior adaptations in the 1990s, yet their modern interpretations were better because the filmmakers knew what to give fans. This is what many past video game movies, including Assassin's Creed and Max Payne, need now:...

Microsoft’s Xbox gaming division has certainly seen better days. With an overall slump in console sales compared to the glorious Xbox 360 era, Microsoft seems to have shifted its strategy with regards to console exclusivity entirely – bringing what used to be exclusive titles to rival platforms such as the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
The ever-popular Forza Horizon 5 is just one of the many exclusives slated to launch for the PS5, and it would appear that despite an initially rocky start, the game has managed to amass a sizable player base before heading on to the PS5.

Owen Wilson needs a new pair of running sneakers. Why? Because he will need them for a race against the clock in the upcoming action drama Runner. Joining Wilson for the forthcoming feature is Reacher and Fast X star Alan Ritchson. Scott Waugh directs Runner from a Black List script by Tommy White and Miles Hubley.
According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, Runner “follows Hank Malone (Ritchson), a high-end courier who has three hours to transport an organ to save a seven-year-old girl in need of an immediate transplant. The seemingly simple mission turns deadly when the leader of a notorious crime syndicate becomes hell-bent on claiming the organ.”

Alan Ritchson has just nabbed himself another big movie in the shape of Runner, just a few weeks before the premiere of Reacher's eagerly anticipated third season on Prime Video, as per Deadline. Ritchson is teaming up with Loki star Owen Wilson, who will hopefully say "wow" in the film. The movie features a Jason Statham-style premise as it involved a plot that sounds somewhat like Crank. The film, which is directed by Need for Speed and Expendables 4 director Scott Waugh, is set to begin shooting in Queensland, Australia, this March, while it was written by Tommy White and Miles Hubley.

The prevalence of “downloadable content” brought a new generation of so-called “games as a service”, which have transformed the creative process as a whole. Bloodborne is regarded as one of the greatest games of this generation. This Soulslike action RPG was released in 2015 by FromSoftware. In just a few days of its release, this game made everyone awestruck by its Gothic Victorian-era-inspired Yharnam, whose residents are suffering from Yharnamites.

Now, just imagine, will there be any chance that a dark and heavy game like this would have any connection with a 2005-released platform game, Madagascar? Madagascar itself is a huge franchise, but a light and colorful game like this holds a peculiar connection with the dark worlds of Bloodborne.

There can’t be any better stressbuster than playing your favorite racing game and overtaking all the competitors to earn the crown. Newcomers are probably not completely aware of EA’s one of the longest-running racing game series, Need for Speed, but this series has been running for thirty years. In this duration, EA has presented gamers with twenty-two outstanding installments, with the last one released in 2022.

There’s no denying that The Fast and the Furious was inspired by a plethora of vehicular heist films that preceded it, but it also ended up being a source of inspiration for many action films that came after it. If we look at the North American market, after the success of the Ff franchise, films like Torque, Need for Speed, and Baby Driver were greenlit. Russia jumped on the trend with Street Racers. So did Malaysia with Evolusi Kl Drift and its sequel Evolusi Kl Drift 2; yes, they weren’t hiding their love for Tokyo Drift. India launched the massively popular Dhoom franchise. The Norwegian film industry also spawned a franchise inspired by the Ff films, i.e., the Borning trilogy. While the French were ahead of the curve with the two Taxi movies, they eventually expanded it into a five-film franchise after the demand for vehicular mayhem increased in the 2000s.

The Need for Speed movie was Aaron Paul's first major project after the conclusion of the critically acclaimed Breaking Bad. While Paul's character on Breaking Bad, Jesse, was originally supposed to be killed off in the first season, plans were changed, and he was ultimately destined to star in all five seasons of the hit show. However, it doesn't seem like Paul was destined to star in more Need for Speed films, as a sequel to the racing movie has not been made.
Need for Speed was released in 2014 and performed well at the box office, especially in China. While the film only has a 23% on Rotten Tomatoes, the cast of Need for Speed, which includes the likes of Paul, Rami Malek, Dakota Johnson, and Michael Keaton, made it an entertaining movie. However, while Need for Speed 2 was officially announced in 2015, just one year after the first film,...

The Rotten Tomatoes score is in for Goodrich, and it seems to be extending a trend for Michael Keaton. The film follows Andy Goodrich (Keaton), a museum owner whose wife enters rehab, leaving him to care for their young twins alone. As he navigates modern parenthood, he relies on his daughter Grace (Mila Kunis) from his first marriage, ultimately becoming the father she never had. So far, the reviews for Goodrich have been generally positive, as it marks his first movie since Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

It's strange to think that quite a few networks turned down "Breaking Bad" before it became the gargantuan hit series it did. The show largely defined what is meant by the term "the golden age of TV," providing pre-streaming audiences with a slickly-made premium drama that represents exactly the kind of high-quality entertainment that's often lacking in today's oversaturated media landscape.
What's more, "Breaking Bad" launched or catapulted the careers of several of its actors, most notably Bryan Cranston, who played Walter White/Heisenberg — a chemistry teacher who goes on a meth-dealing odyssey to become a drug kingpin. Cranston has become nothing short of a megastar in the wake of his seminal series, but it wasn't just the former "Malcolm in the Middle" star that received a post-"Breaking Bad" boost. Xbox Game Pass Standard finally fills a hole in the lineup of Game Pass subscription options that's been left unaddressed for far too long, but it still comes with some compromises compared to Game Pass Ultimate. As an online multiplayer service that also grants access to free games, Xbox Game Pass has proven popular on both console and PC. The expensive Ultimate subscription makes the game library available across platforms, while cheaper options grant benefits on one or the other.
The basic PC plan grants access to the free game library while trading the online multiplayer subscription in for an EA Play membership. Assassin's Creed is based on the video game series of the same name, and 20th Century Fox planned for the 2016 movie to be the first of a long-running franchise, but it seems the Assassin's Creed 2 film will not happen. The first movie is set in the future and follows Cal (Michael Fassbender), who travels back in time to the 15th century to try and extract information from his ancestors. The character travels through time using genetic memories in his DNA, which is how he learns to become an expert fighter, killer, and free-runner.
Actor Michael Fassbender didn't know Assassin's Creed was a video game when he signed onto the film.

The video game adaptation grossed $240 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo), underperforming given the film's $125 million budget.

One year after Breaking Bad ended, one of its stars headlined a video game adaptation that was poorly received, but is making waves on streaming now 10 years later. Need for Speed, the 2014 racing drama starring Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, and Imogen Poots, has officially entered the top 10 most popular movies chart on Max, currently sitting in the #10 spot. The film follows a street racer from prison who was framed by a wealthy business associate who then decides to join a cross-country race with revenge on the brain. Breaking Bad is inevitably the masterpiece that had Aaron Paul’s acting career skyrocketing to extraordinary heights, thanks to the immersive storyline and the actor’s beyond-commendable portrayal of Jesse Pinkman in the saga. If anything, it landed him with the true recognition and fame he deserved when he first embarked on this profession’s journey back in 1990.

However, just like many other actors have complained in the entertainment industry, Paul also found some aspects of this fame grueling to deal with. Like the one time this became the bane of his existence when he was trying to comfort a friend during his hard time, and things took a turn for the worse as a fan found this unruly and hurled vile insults at him at the worst time possible.

The PlayStation and Xbox rivalry has been going on for decades now. Nintendo does pop up with a console of its own once in a while, but it is more focused on the handheld side of gaming. As far as the console wars go, while the fervor is not as intense as it used to be, the subtle undercurrents are still flowing.
Both companies have their competing franchises, and while these games don’t always overlap in genre, there is one level playing field for the gaming giants: racing. Both of the companies are ready to put the pedal to the metal, but one of them has been steadily smoking the other through repeated entries, and one wonders if Gran Turismo will ever overtake Forza.

There are a few franchises that have managed to sustain players’ enthusiasm and loyalty as the Need for Speed series. From its thrilling high-speed chases to its customizations and various popular cars, the franchise has consistently managed to capture the hearts of millions of players.
With Electronic Arts releasing a new chapter in the recent title, it is looking to revive players’ interest in the series by combining notable elements from beloved past titles like Hot Pursuit and Unbound. This nostalgic fusion aims to reignite the somewhat dwindling passion for the series.

Micheal Keaton appears to have a bone to pick with the industry for turning his Oscar-nominated role in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s “Birdman (or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)” into his grand Hollywood comeback. The actor never understood that awards season narrative as he never really went anywhere in the first place.
“A really, really, really smart guy, a guy I liked a lot, said, ‘Comeback — that’s the story,’” Keaton recently told GQ magazine about his “Birdman” role. “I went, ‘Honestly, it’s kind of bullshit.’”
Keaton’s not exactly wrong considering he never stopped acting for any extended period of time. The actor was coming off four years of consecutive theatrical releases, including studio films like “RoboCop” and “Need for Speed,” so it’s not like he was ever out of the spotlight by the time “Birdman” brought him Oscar buzz and acclaim.

Michael Keaton recently told GQ magazine that he wasn’t too upset when Warner Bros. scrapped the release of “Batgirl,” in which the actor reprised his iconic role of Batman opposite Leslie Grace in the title role. The studio shelved the film in August 2022 in a cost-cutting move. The $90 million-budgeted “Batgirl” was already shot and through post-production when the decision was made, which came as a shock to the industry. Variety reported that a tax incentive was a driving force behind the decision to kill “Batgirl.”
“No, I didn’t care one way or another. Big, fun, nice check,” Keaton said when asked if he was disappointed in the film’s axing. GQ notes that Keaton was also “rubbing his fingers together in the universal gesture for ‘moolah.'”
“I like those boys. They’re nice guys,” he added on a softer note about “Batgirl” directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

PlayStation Plus adds new games monthly while removing some, like Trials of Mana in August. Trials of Mana remake received positive reviews for its 3D perspective and real-time battles. Fans of JRPGs should check out Trials of Mana before it leaves the subscription next month.
As is the case every month, PlayStation Plus is changing its roster of games in August, giving players a variety of new titles that they can add to their libraries and keep for as long as they're subscribed to the service. This $203 Million Video Game Movie Failure Makes Fast & Furious 20-Year Success Even More Impressive
The success of the Fast & Furious franchise is even more impressive when compared to the similarly-premised would-be franchise, Need for Speed. Need for Speed failed to captivate audiences, lacked inspiring characters and storylines, and flopped at domestic box offices. Need for Speed's lackluster reception hindered the potential for it to evolve into a successful movie series like Fast & Furious.
The disappointing run of a 2014 video game movie makes the Fast & Furious franchise's lucrative and perpetual success at the box office all the more impressive. Since the original 2001 entry, The Fast & The Furious - which alone was a big hit with audiences - the franchise has expanded into a $7.4 billion cinematic behemoth. To this day, the Fast & Furious franchise continues to develop exponentially, seeking even more mileage with upcoming Fast & Furious sequels and spinoffs despite already having ten original series installments and one spin-off...

"Fifty Shades of Grey" remains the top-grossing film for Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, earning nearly $570 million worldwide. Both stars saw success in other films like "21 Jump Street" and "The Social Network," but the "Fifty Shades" trilogy stood out. The film trilogy raked in a total of $1.32 billion at the box office, making it a major financial success in their careers.
Fifty Shades of Grey still holds a career-best record for both of its stars, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. The popular film adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name by E.L. James was initially released in theaters on February 13, 2015 and struck a chord in the cultural zeitgeist, becoming one of the most profitable and talked about movies of that year. The film, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, gave an international spotlight to both Fanning and Johnson, who were at the time still rising leads.

Netflix may be one of the biggest, most successful, and wealthy streaming platforms, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t come out victorious in reportedly duping quite a few actors.
This comes after these reportedly affected actors — one of them being Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad — themselves called out the multi-billionaire platform for cheating them when it came to their paychecks.

Hidden Strike ranked 6th on Netflix's list of most viewed movies in 2023, with over 73 million views and 126 million hours watched. Critics panned Hidden Strike with a 24% Rotten Tomatoes score, but it received a 55% audience score, proving more popular with viewers. Despite negative reviews, the Chan and Cena combo drew in massive viewership, indicating potential for a sequel or even a theatrical release.
The John Cena and Jackie Chan action movie Hidden Strike ended up being one of the biggest streaming movies of 2023. Directed by Scott Waugh and written by Arash Amel, Hidden Strike pairs the unlikely duo of Chan and Cena in an action-packed martial arts adventure film. Matchbox movie gains edge over Fast & Furious with director Sam Hargrave's action pedigree. Fast & Furious 11 faces delay, but Vin Diesel promises an intense finale for the $7 billion franchise. Hargrave's Extraction films showcase potential for Matchbox movie to exceed expectations in action genre.
A new Fast & Furious rival already has one major advantage over the $7.4 billion franchise. Since the original The Fast and the Furious film was released in 2001, it has gradually become one of the most profitable movie franchises of all time. Leading man Vin Diesel is still committed to making the upcoming Fast 11 one of the best installments of the lucrative franchise despite the poor box office performance of Fast X (2023).
Fast 11 has been unparalleled in terms of action car franchises, with films such as 2014's Need for Speed and 2017's Overdrive unable to capitalize on establishing a modern series that could rival Fast & Furious.

There are new rumors that may be providing an update on the current status of the Kingdom Hearts adaptation. Based on the video game series, it was first announced in 2020 that a Kingdom Hearts series would be made for Disney+, but that might no longer be the goal.
Per TheDisInsider, it's been reported that the Kingdom Hearts series has switched gears and will now be developed as an animated film. That's possibly due to the immense success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and other recent video game adaptations. However, the report also noted that the project hasn't been officially greenlit just yet, so there's still a chance it will die in development hell. The good news is that the update is promising, and the rise in other video game adaptations will only help this one's odds of getting made.

Call of Duty and Battlefield are no Need For Speed games, but the involvement of Electronic Arts with the latter proves why vehicle mechanics are so fluid in Bf games. It’s been a hard time for both the video games as the fans aren’t happy with the franchises’ latest installments. While MW3 could’ve been better but chose to accompany Bf 2042 in its worst time.
Coincidently, both video games are the latest in their respective franchises and deemed by fans as worst, in their respective franchises of course. It wouldn’t be a surprise if fans were surprised to think about what is happening with the major video game franchises right now. Bf really needs a different strategy if they are to outshine CoD in the gaming arena.

Good video game adaptations were once considered only a possibility, and given failures like Warcraft, Max Payne, and Need For Speed, it's easy to see why. However, the last few years have seen a newfound resurgence for the genre thanks to prestigious television adaptations. While programs like The Last of Us, Arcane, and Castlevania certainly had significant portions of players interested in potential adaptations, fans of the Fallout gaming franchise have been waiting for a new story set in the universe for years. Fallout certainly captures the intricate worldbuilding and creative action sequences that are reminiscent of the gaming series, but it also plays into the snarky comedy that is prevalent throughout the games. Compared to other dystopian genre stories, Fallout’s characterization of the post-apocalypse stands out due to its humor.

It's been over 10 years since Breaking Bad came to an end, but the show is still fresh in the minds of fans as one of the best crime shows of all time. Created by Vince Gilligan, the show is centered around Walter White, a run-of-the-mill chemistry teacher whose diagnosis of lung cancer prompts him to leave his ordinary life behind and join the crime underworld as a ruthless kingpin of the methamphetamine business.
Breaking Bad delivers a succinct meditation on how any human being is susceptible to evil. Walter White is a brilliant protagonist who fans love to hate: with each season, he becomes more vicious and manipulative until there's no chance of redemption for the character. The show's success spawned the spin-off series Better Call Saul, set shortly before Breaking Bad, where fans see familiar faces again. Breaking Bad won a total of sixteen Emmys, most of them thanks to an incredible ensemble cast.
