The Jeepers Creepers franchise began with a bang in 2001, capturing the imaginations and nightmares of horror fans with its introduction of the Creeper, a demonic entity that awakens every 23 years to feast on human flesh. Directed by Victor Salva, the original film stood out for its eerie atmosphere, relentless suspense, and the enigmatic terror of the Creeper, portrayed by Jonathan Breck. It struck a chord with audiences, becoming a sleeper hit and grossing over $59 million worldwide. The sequel in 2003 continued to build on this mythology, focusing on a group of stranded teenagers and further cementing the Creeper as a formidable horror icon despite mixed reviews. However, the third installment in 2017 signaled a steep decline, with a disjointed narrative, lackluster special effects, and a failure to capture the franchise’s original suspense and terror. Despite these ups and downs, the franchise’s enduring legacy and dedicated fanbase prompted a reboot with...

Superheroes like Black Hammer and Ambush Bug showcase the weirder, more experimental side of comic book storytelling. Creeper and Doom Patrol offer strange, offbeat takes on superheroes, embracing creativity and oddity. Funnyman and The Boys satirize traditional superhero tropes, showcasing dark, absurdist narratives.
Since the Golden Age of Comics was created by the introduction of Superman, the superhero genre has dominated print, with Batman and Spider-Man spearheading the comics industry's success. While the average superhero comic takes itself fairly seriously, at least as far as its own continuity and narrative goes, others can be just plain bizarre. Whether it's through the exploration of unusual power levels or unconventional heroes, these titles are loved for their oddities.
For many readers, the weirder the comic book, the better it is, and the more skillfully a creator can subvert or experiment with the genre, the more credit is due. While some of these...

The late Arleen Sorkin may be the definitive Harley Quinn, originating the role in Batman: The Animated Series after her friend Paul Dini wrote it just for her. Harley has evolved far beyond those roots, both in the comics and in subsequent adaptations where actors like Margot Robbie and Kaley Cuoco put their own spin on the character. But they never would have had their chance without Sorkin leading the way.
Her performances in the Dcau firmly established the early stages of Harley's career, as The Joker's oft-abused lover and sidekick. But while her version of the character never broke with him, she planted the seeds of the more rounded Harley in subsequent adaptations. Here's a rundown of her most memorable performances in the role that she continues to define.

When a young couple wins a stay at a Creeper-themed escape room there’s no way out from stagey panics and shoddy bloodletting
The Creeper, from the 2001 horror film Jeepers Creepers, has always been in the Vanarama National League of cinematic bogeymen, but the batwing-faced old trouper still deserves better than this shoddy, aesthetically ugly reboot. It reprises the original redneck highway setup in its prologue, with two pensioners replacing Justin Long and Gina Phillips. But Finnish director Timo Vuorensola bypasses the first film’s lean and highly strung qualities in a half-hearted attempt to update the franchise – now with no input from its original creator, disgraced director Victor Salva – for horror-savvy 21st-century punters.
The ill-fated seniors at the beginning quickly become another pair of missing persons chalked off to the Creeper, as recounted in a YouTube documentary being lapped up by horror fanboy Chase (Imran Adams). He’s...

Much like the Creeper itself, the Jeepers Creepers franchise won't stay dormant for long. With the upcoming reboot Jeepers Creepers: Reborn hitting theaters this week, Dread Central is rolling out their brand-new limited series podcast Jeepers Creepers Unseen, which will explore the controversy that's rooted in the franchise's history. With a fanbase divided on the separation of a creator and their art vs. accountability and what that looks like, Dread Central's Josh Korngut hosts the new podcast that aims to dig up that lurid past and put it all out on the table.

Legend has it that vampires can’t expose themselves to sunlight, but Mike Viola begs to differ. He’s a pool-lazing vampire in the new video for “Drug Rug,” a track off his upcoming LP Godmuffin.
Directed by Caitlin Gerard, the video opens with Viola lying on a float in Mandy Moore’s pool. “This again?” she asks herself, catching him through her glass window. “What the fuck? Get out of here!”

David Ayer seems to have pulled off another Jared Leto-style Joker transformation with Shia Labeouf for The Tax Collector. The director posted the very first picture of Shia Labeouf from the film, and he's covered in a bunch of tattoos. The young actor can be seen sitting down, wearing only shorts, chains, and sunglasses while smoking a cigarette. The image is pretty striking, making Labeouf look like a man that you don't want to cross paths with.
The new David Ayer film The Tax Collector was announced back at the end of June and remains to be a bit mysterious. The project is a crime thriller written, produced and directed by Ayer. In addition to Shia Labeouf, the movie also stars Bobby Soto, Chelsea Rendon, Cinthya Carmona, Lana Parrilla, Gabriela Flores, and George Lopez. However, it is not clear what any of their roles are at this point in time.

As a horror reviewer I come across trailers for neo-Grindhouse and exploitation movies all the time that promise to be shocking, or sexy, or depraved, and inevitably when I sit down to watch one of these movies for review it ends up being some lame shot on video piece of shit with in-camera sound and no score, featuring jokes ripped off from South Park, zero story structure, and if there are naked women, they are women that you do not under any circumstances want to see naked. I usually watch about ten minutes of such a film and then don't bother to write a review.
Creeper (Written and Directed by Matthew Gunnoe, starring Darryl Baldwin, Monica Chambers, Rohnja Morrow) might not be a masterpiece of horror cinema, but it is a horror/exploitation film that is better made than most, and delivers where other films...
