This has got to be one of the more interesting MPAA ratings bulletins in a while and not because of the recognizable names, but more for the abundance of sequels I had never heard of. The only one I've heard of (and have actually seen and entirely disliked) is Rec 4: Apocalypse, but beyond that we have Dragonheart 3: The Sorcerer's Curse, Hayride 2 (a sequel to a movie about a serial killer haunting a family hayride) and did you know they made a sequel to The Man With The Iron Fists and yes, RZA is back and starring and also wrote the screenplay and it may or may not be called The Man with the Iron Fists: Sting of the Scorpion. The first one made just over $19 million worldwide on a $15 million budget, my guess is he got about $5 million to make this one... max. As for the films we've...

The 45th Annual NAACP Image Awards went off without a hitch earlier this evening (February 22) with "12 Years a Slave" continuing to make waves snagging the biggest prize of the night.
Before her film won Outstanding Motion Picture, the gorgeous Lupita Nyong'o added another piece of hardware to her already impressive collection taking home a trophy for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, while Kerry Washington snagged up her second Image Award with a win for Best Actress in a Dramatic Series. Kerry's show "Scandal" also won Outstanding Drama Series.
In addition, the hilarious Kevin Hart took home Entertainer of the Year, while Oprah Winfrey paid tribute to the late Nelson Mandela with a touching speech and musical dedication.
"He was everything we have all have heard and more. He was humble and he was unscathed by any kind of bitterness after all that we know he's been through," Winfrey said.

If you like Louis Ck or Chris Rock, acerbic, sharp comedians who like to dig into who we are and how we feel about each other, check out Marina Zenovich's "Richard Pryor: Omit the Logic," which offers a fascinating portrait of the brilliant and troubled comic who paved the way. I grew up with Pryor--i remember first seeing him in "Hootenanny," of all things. Zenovich follows his career from talk-show friendly 60s comic through his Las Vegas epiphany, when he turned on his audience, spitting epithets and the N-word. He went on to churn out scabrous records and stage shows, struggled with an NBC series, and helped Mel Brooks to write "Blazing Saddles" before finding a mainstream movie career. Zenovich talks to a wide swath of people who knew him well, from the many women in his life to his fellow comics, from Robin Williams and Whoopi Goldberg to Dave Chappelle and Lily Tomlin.

Chicago – A bit too much of “Richard Pryor: Omit the Logic,” premiering tonight, May 31, 2013, on Showtime, is devoted to adoration of its subject matter from his peers and friends, and not enough insight is offered into from where the true talent or serious demons of the man originated. Perhaps no one really knows. Perhaps people as talented and as troubled as Richard Pryor are impossible to decipher. As a showcase of Pryor’s talent and influence, “Omit the Logic” is undeniably fun. It just feels a little slight given the massive cultural influence of its subject matter.
Television Rating: 3.0/5.0
“Omit the Logic” features interviews with people who knew and worked with Pryor like Paul Mooney, Mel Brooks, and Jesse Jackson, along with those influenced by him over the years like Dave Chappelle and Whoopi Goldberg. The lesser-known personalities interviewed, the people who were actually closest to Pryor, offer the most...

How can a documentary about someone as funny, alive, honest, edgy, and brilliant as Richard Pryor can fall so flat? Marina Zenovich’s documentary on the comedian, "Richard Pryor: Omit the Logic," premiering at Tribeca, testifies to the comedian's humor and brilliantly dark view of the world around him. But "Omit the Logic" doesn’t show the audience anything new or insightful about him. There was magic to Pryor, but we don't see enough of Pryor being Pryor. Sure, comedians from Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Dave Chappelle, Lily Tomlin to Mel Brooks admire Pryor’s prodigious talent. But their observations are pat, their character testimonies not perceptive. They don't seem to have enough space to flesh out their ideas about the man. Comedian David Banks says, "Don't try to find no logic, a lot of this you hear, logic is omitted." This statement provides the title of Zenovich’s documentary--and...
