Creator Steven Knight has sent a handful of characters into the bleak midwinter through every season of "Peaky Blinders," but even he admits that there were some he wished he could have kept around a little longer.

In an interview with Esquire during a live watch-along of the season 5 finale, the showrunner of the beloved period drama shared a few select names of stars he'd have preferred to have held on to. One name at the top of the list was Aberama Gold, played by Aidan Gillen. Appearing in season 4, the hitman hired by Tommy to eliminate Luca Changretta (Adrien Brody) became close with the Shelby family after getting engaged to Polly (Helen McRory), only to be stabbed to death during an ambush by the Ira. Looking back, Knight felt Gold was made of sterner stuff. "I should have kept [Aberama] alive; I could have just wounded him."

The second that Grace Burgess (Annabelle Wallis in the role that was hardest of all to cast) walked into The Garrison Pub, it was clear that these star-crossed lovers were doomed. The show's creator, Steve Knight, sent us down a heartbreaking road that led to one of the best "Peaky Blinders" episodes ever. A planned hit on Tommy at a party goes sideways, and Grace dies from a gunshot that wasn't meant for her.

Netflix’s new crime drama, Adolescence, just premiered on March 13 and already, the series, starring Stephen Graham (Peaky Blinders), Ashley Walters, and Owen Cooper, has a perfect 100% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Adolescence is a four-part miniseries that follows what happens when a 13-year-old boy named Jamie Miller is accused of murdering his classmate. In the show, Graham plays Jamie’s father, Eddie. Adolescence, in addition to its perfect critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, has an impressive 76% audience score with more than 100 ratings.

Creator Steven Knight has said that he hopes his Peaky Blinders movie will get a cinema release rather than go straight to Netflix.

Netflix and cinema releases aren’t two things that have traditionally mixed well in the past. Greta Gerwig is currently fighting to get her Narnia film a proper cinema release – not that cinemas seem too happy about Netflix’s deal with IMAX. The Russo brothers’ expensive The Electric State, by contrast, won’t enjoy the benefits of a huge screen and excellent sound.

Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, is now the latest filmmaker hoping to see his film on the big screen. Knight and director Tom Harper have been feverishly working on a Peaky Blinders movie, which wrapped production in December and is expected to be released later this year.
