"Mammootty's performance in 'Kannur Squad' was nothing short of superb. His portrayal of the character was captivating and added depth to the story. The storytelling was executed with finesse, keeping the audience engaged and glued to the screen throughout. The overall experience of the movie's production and execution is truly commendable. 'Kannur Squad' is a must-watch, with its stellar performances and exceptional storytelling leaving a lasting impact on viewers." The level of violence in 'Kannur Squad' is noticeably higher than what is typically seen in Mammootty's movies. It adds a gritty and intense dimension to the film, which may be appealing to some viewers while possibly unsettling to others. It's essential for potential viewers to be aware of this aspect of the movie before watching it.
Honestly, can't say anything much wrong about it. Seemed like the story was perfectly crafted, and it gave the director the freedom to execute it properly. The brothers did a good job, and a good insightful interview about their process and timeline to develop and streamline it is required. They haven't overdone anything, that was a good thing. The film even provides a small relief through Mumbaivala Shiju character from the hectic investigation process. There are some Cameo appearances as such. There are 2-3 short scenes in the film that are not suitable to watch for children, but it was necessary and is aesthetically minimal as well compared to similar films. I believe this minimalism in portraying these elements is a very good thing, and hope this ethics in filmmaking won't be replaced. A small ticker that says a film element such as that is to be shown on the the side of the screen with a timer would help as well. To just to say a negative, I am not sure why George had to find words in English, and that too strainingly when he was asking an UP Officer to translate it in Hindi. That was not needed at all, and the film showed earlier he can handle Hindi, cause in a public function he was supposed to sing a Hindi song. Many liked RDX for it's fight sequences, for me some of those were a bit cringey. This film offers some fight sequence as well, and if you like an investigation thriller movie, this is a good one and might be the season best.
I will leave the technical side for the professionals and talk about my personal view on the movie. The satisfaction we were left with after watching this movie was nothing short of pure bliss. Honestly I just love it when a movie comes out with minimal promotion or hype, and performs well solely based on how good it is.
It's rare nowadays to be able to sit through a movie and finish it without discontent about one thing or another, but this movie did just that and so much more. Every single second of it was executed exceptionally. The direction and cinematography was so good, everyone that was cast did their job perfectly, especially Azeez and Rony, and not to mention The tech guy and the North Indian constable, and I don't have to say anything much about Mammootty right? He did what he always does, he took on the role with class, dissected it, fleshed it out, and made it his own.
Coming to the OST, Sushin Shyam was mixing fire throughout the movie until the very end, the guy never misses. Absolutely loved the movie and worth every single penny. A must watch in the theatres.

A proper police procedural commercialized for the Malayalam audience in a way that it's still realistic enough in parts but also gives moments of mass celebration for the Mammootty fans. The character Mammooty plays is nothing like the glorified cop roles he has done in the past and is very down to earth but the film takes its moments to break that magic to showcase the superstar which the audience seems to love. Mammootty actually looks pretty great and does it pretty well in such action scenes that are designed to get the mass response in theatres. Being based on a true story, there must have been some liberties taken here. But if it showed the story to be a bit more gray it would've been great. The way the crime is depicted, the revisits to it, seems to be quite insensitive, just for the sake of making the villains look more evil.
Overall, it was an enjoyable experience but not as great as the fans claim it to be.
When Rorschach became a super hit, I was gladly surprised that such a style of film was working for the Malayali audience even though Mammootty was there as an incentive. But the amount of overpraise that film got and the way this is becoming such a big success, it feels like Mammootty just have to show up with something decent with enough moments for the fans to celebrate and they will make it a huge success.

One of the best movies of Mammootty in recent times. An investigation thriller. I went with zero expectations and i liked the movie very much. Mammooty is a ASI rank Police Officer and he and 3 other including Azeez, Shabareesh and one more include the Kannur Squad and they are investigating a murder case. In this movie, Mammootty is not mass "Athavanameda Police " (Mammootty's earlier movie dialogue) Line but realistic normal Police Officer heading the Kannur Squad. But second half had good mass elements. Sunny Wayne, Vijayaraghavan, Kishore, Manoj KU, one Tech helper (Dont know name) and all other did their job well. 4.5 out of 5 for this film.
