Editorās note: Variety has revived its āTenpercenteriesā column that chronicles the inner-workings and client signings of Hollywoodās top talent agencies and management firms. Tenpercenteries was a staple of Variety from the mid-1990s through the early 2010s. Weāre happy to bring it back with a heightened focus on deals and dish involving showbizās top talent representation firms.
The young (and the frugal) staff members at United Talent Agency were up in arms last week, sources told Tenpercenteries, over news from leadership that the company was suspending its free lunch service.
What began as a post-pandemic perk to lure staff back into the office had miraculously and generously lasted until 2025. UTA was serving up dishes from Leora, the restaurant that sits in the agencyās shadow in Beverly Hills. A turkey club sandwich will run you $15 and a sesame ginger salad sets you back $22.

Actor Michael K. Williams, who may have been best known for his unforgettable role as Omar in the hit HBO series The Wire, passed away in 2021 at the age of 54. A subsequent autopsy found that Williams had died of an overdose after ingesting heroin that had been laced with fentanyl. Four men were criminally charged when police looked into who sold Williams the deadly drug, and that includes Carlos Macci. The 71-year-old pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute narcotics in April and will be sentenced for the crime later this month. The court's probation office is recommending a 10-year sentence.
Per BBC News, The Wire co-creator David Simon wrote a three-page letter to the judge that was filed by Macci's attorney this week. In the letter, Simon pleads for leniency to be given to Macci, arguing that this is what Williams would have wanted. That's because the late actor was someone who "believed in redemption,...

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Letitia Wright said it was a challenge to play Shuri in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film given the emotional weight placed on the Academy Award-winning sequel.
Speaking with ComicBook.com about her upcoming Western drama film, Surrounded, Wright expressed how much more difficult it was to play Shuri in Wakanda Forever than it was in the original Black Panther movie. According to Wright, she had to channel a different energy from her normal self in Wakanda Forever to properly channel the feelings her character dealt with following the passing of T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman). "So, in the second film, those are completely different emotions from what she carried in the first film," she said. "But it's a different energy than what I usually carry. I am light-hearted and fun. I am. Let me give myself some credit. But maintaining that energy all the time is quite difficult.

The well of wild west stories still hasn't dried up. While we've seen the same old tropes and plot beats time and time again, contemporary filmmakers have tested their mettle in the sprawling expanse, returning to the big screen with unique twists on classic stories. In the upcoming western drama Surrounded, we'll see what happens when a former Buffalo Soldier is tasked with holding a vicious outlaw until help arrives -- or until his posse tries to take him back.
Set to be released later this Spring, Surrounded looks to be a thrilling drama in the middle of America's heartland, telling a gripping story from the perspective of a unique protagonist. Not only that, but it also features a stacked cast in terms of star power, along with a trailer that promises a grandiose tale of heroism, redemption, and finding one's purpose amid conflicting desires.

Itās been well over a year since the legendary actor and The Wire star Michael K. Williams tragically passed away. While the star has been spotted in posthumous roles including Abi Damaris Corbinās John Boyega-led thriller Breaking, itās with Anthony Mandlerās second foray into feature-length filmmaking, Surrounded, that audiences will see Williams perform for the last time. Today, MGM has dropped a trailer for the title which also stars Black Pantherās Letitia Wright, Rocketman's Jamie Bell, Burn Noticeās Jeffrey Donovan, and Stranger Thingsā Brett Gelman.

Letitia Wright is ready to get away from Wakanda for a bit and get into the Wild West in the trailer for Surrounded, the new western from Anthony Mandler (Monster). The film also marks the last performance of the late Michael K. Williams.
Williams died back in 2021 at the young age of 55 years, after a long and powerful career. He was part of many Hollywood classics such as 12 Years a Slave, and big franchises like The Purge, Ghostbusters or RoboCop. In television, his last two titles were very acclaimed shows, Lovecraft Country and When They See Us, after participating in many popular shows over the years like Community or The Wire.
In anticipation of the digital release of Surrounded on June 20, here you can check out the trailer, poster and official synopsis:

"I had to learn as a Black woman living in this damn White world, that I gotta work 3 times as hard to get 1/5th of what I deserve." MGM Studios has revealed an official trailer for Surrounded, a western thriller from filmmaker Anthony Mandler. This is arriving to watch on VOD / digital for streaming in June this summer - it's skipping theaters unfortunately. I'd watch it on the big screen. The Wild West has never seen a force like Moses "Mo" Washington. Former Buffalo Soldier Mo Washington travels West to lay claim on a gold mine. After her stagecoach is ambushed, Mo is tasked with holding a dangerous outlaw captive and must survive the day when the bandit's gang tries to free him. Letitia Wright stars as "Mo" Washington, with Jamie Bell as Tommy Walsh ("the outlaw"), Michael K. Williams (in one of his final roles - filmed before he passed away in 2021), Jeffrey Donovan,...
