I have been watching the first prime time network incarnation of Lingo and to me it has the potential to be the first hit game show of 2023. RuPaul Charles, in his first hosting assignment is outstanding and has great rapport with the contestants. But what makes this version stand out from the 1980s original version in syndication and its previous run on GSN is that Lingo is able to reach a bigger audience and more important, it's a show the viewer can play along with. Lingo is the show that will make you shout at the screen as the contestants try to solve Lingoes of five, six and 10 letters to win thousands of dollars in cash.
If you haven't seen Lingo yet, do so. It's a game you will be hooked on and it is destined to have a long run.

Frustrating how often the entire game is moot and the team which is obviously not great steals the game by getting one lucky guess at the end. One guess should not undo an entire game of a team smoking the competition. I get wanting to give the behind team a chance to catch up, but it should be tougher for them to absolutely pass them. It always feels like at least one team that makes it to the final showdown is weak and lo and behold often that team totally chokes when it comes to actually playing Lingo, not just guessing a word with a overly obvious clue. Many clues I don't need a single letter and I'm already thinking of the answer. It's not fair and I've turned off the show at this point many times because of how irritating this is. Overall the show is good, a better version of the Game Show Network version with Chuck Woolerly. Rupaul is a personable host that has fun with the contestants and I think the show has long lasting potential.
I have always been a fan of the show. I used to love watching it on Game Show Network back in the day during the Chuck Woolery days, in the early 2000s, so I figured I would enjoy it like I always have. I have to say I am not a fan, especially with the host and it just feels so rushed and thrown together, plus RuPaul is not the right host for this show. He is so cringey with his sexual jokes about the lingo balls in this episode I just recently watched. The show could certainly be better if he was replaced. Perhaps it will get better as the episodes continue on, but I don't see much hope for it to improve.
Words games are so fun & Rupaul is electric. New favorite game show!! I love the music, energy and the host keeps me laughing. I was not expecting to love this show as much as I do... but, the game itself is well designed and incredibly fun. It is easy to understand and mirrors a lot of popular word games like wordle, scrabble, and puzzles from shows like Wheel of Fortune. The contestants are diverse and the levels of education are varied. There are neighbors, relatives, romantic couples, and all sorts of pairings that anyone can relate to. I cannot recommend this show enough and hope that you all enjoy it as much as I do :)
I am thrilled to be watching Season 2 of "Lingo ", the game show. Not only is it entertaining , but challenging, as well. I am a retired elementary school teacher and fully appreciate the format of the program. Building brain power is often an overlooked skill, so games like this are great for one's mind! I also love, love, love RuPaul as host. I find him most entertaining, comical and delightful...he has as much fun as the lucky contestants do, and shows it in a big way. I now, once again, look very forward to my Summer Friday nights' programming. Thank you Mr. Charles and CBS for taking a chance on unique and exciting show!!!
