With Patch 7.2 of Final Fantasy Xiv: Dawntrailcoming soon, players have just over a week to get a Phial of Fantasia for free. The upcoming patch, Seekers of Eternity, will add a huge amount of content to the hit Final Fantasy Mmo. However, certain things will also be leaving the game when the new patch is launched, including the chance to get this premium item for free.
A Phial of Fantasia is an item used to change your character's appearance, and it usually costs $10 in the game store, where it's described as a "wondrous item for the ultimate makeover." Reddit user Cardboardbox_as_desk has issued a "gentle reminder" to fellow Ffxiv players to get their free Fantasia before the option to do so disappears when Patch 7.2 is introduced on March 25.

Few franchises have proved as influential on the action genre as the original Bourne trilogy did in the early 2000s. Based on the beloved novels by Robert Ludlum, the films proved a drastic shift for spy thrillers, which most at the time associated with the campy aesthetic of 007. Doug Limans work on The Bourne Identity and especially Paul Greengrasss work on the second and third installments felt dark and gritty, which was particularly refreshing in a pre-Batman Begins world. Within a decade, action films were defined by quick cutting, shaky camerawork, and hand-to-hand combat, for both better and worse.
Considering how thoroughly the films popularity has eclipsed that of Robert Ludlum, its probably surprising to learn how different the books actually are. The Bourne Identity makes some changes in compressing the cast of characters but mostly stays true to the books spirit, while Supremacy and Ultimatum can be called adaptations in name only.

The widely popular Final Fantasy 14 had its latest large-scale expansion with Dawntrail just a few months ago, but players looking for even more content to play through won't have to wait much longer. Despite high praise for the combat and gameplay mechanics in Dawntrail, the expansion has had its fair share of negative backlash over its new story design. Featuring more self-contained stories with the protagonist taking a backseat, the upcoming Patch 7.1 will expand on this new storytelling style with a variety of new quests, raids, and trials for players to experience.
While there are plenty of unique directions FF14's overarching story can go in future expansions, Patch 7.1 will focus on developing pre-existing areas and characters, while providing additional challenges to the bravest players. For those willing to test themselves against some of the hardest new raids in the game, Patch 7.1 has a lot of exciting content to offer.

After the successful launch of Dawntrail, Final Fantasy 14 is quickly heading towards the first major update to its newest expansion, patch 7.1, which promises new story and raid content for players who've finished the expansion's main scenario quests. Unlike the few updates that have already been added to Dawntrail, patch 7.1 should see major content additions, along with some revisions to existing content, like balance changes to the game's various jobs and possible adjustments to existing dungeon or raid content.
Ahead of patch 7.1, Dawntrail has already received a few small updates shortly after launch the first, 7.01, added the first tier of the expansion's Arcadion eight-person raid series and made several balance changes to various Ffxiv jobs, while the second, 7.05, was much smaller, adding a new treasure map dungeon, some new furnishings for player housing, and yet more balance changes. After the release of those two updates, though, there are no more "in-between...

The Sound of Metal star plays a character based on writer and director Yann Demange, who travels to Paris to reconnect with his Arab roots
Sometimes the smallest projects are the most interesting. That may well be the case for Riz Ahmed’s newest film: a 16-minute short called Dammi, directed by Yann Demange, of Top Boy and ’71 renown, which is receiving an unusually high-profile release on the streaming platform Mubi.
Partly it is because Ahmed is now a bona fide Hollywood figure after films such as Sound of Metal, Nimona and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – having cut his teeth in indie British cinema, with credits including Shifty, Four Lions and Trishna. But Ahmed is also something of a overachiever with short films; along with director Aneil Karia, he won an Oscar for The Long Goodbye, a hard-hitting short about a British Asian family brutalised by neo-Nazi paramilitaries,...

As everyone surely knows by now, Marvel’s “Blade” recently lost its director, Yann Demange, known for the British war thriller “’71” and “Lovecraft Country.” And yes, some movies take longer than others to make; that’s just Hollywood, but fans are getting impatient, and some are wondering if the project is cursed. Worse, “Blade” star Mahershala Ali’s attorney, Shelby Weiser, added a little fuel to the fire late last week when she was quoted about the film’s delays.

Before “Iron Man” and “Thor,” before “Spider-Man” and “X-Men,” there was “Blade.” Starring Wesley Snipes as the titular daywalking half-vampire vampire slayer, the movie debuted in 1998 at a time when Marvel comics had yet to enjoy a successful feature film adaptation. The New Line Cinema production was enough of a hit — grossing $131.2 million worldwide — that Snipes returned for two sequels, establishing the company’s first ever bona fide movie franchise. Had “Blade” bombed, the Marvel Cinematic Universe may never have happened.
So when Marvel Studios announced in 2019 that two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali was going to bring the character to the MCU, it seemed like a total no brainer.
Five years later, however, “Blade” has weathered the Covid-19 pandemic and two major guild strikes, faced three release date changes, lost two directors, and hired at least a half dozen screenwriters in what could be the most protracted development process...

Maybe don’t call it a vampire’s curse, but Marvel’s “Blade” has undergone so many delays that fans wonder if the film will ever happen. In what feels like another blow to the project, which has seemingly undergone countless rewrites and has been rethought and re-envisioned several times if the rumors are true, The Wrap reports that the film has lost its director Yann Demange, known for the action thriller, “71” and “White Boy Rick” (Demange was once in the mix to direct Bond 25 before Cary Fukunaga took over).

Another day, another setback for Marvel's long-awaited "Blade" reboot. The project was first announced a handful of years ago during the studio's big Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 when Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali came out on stage, revealing he would be playing the character in a new film. Here we are, five years later and nothing has materialized. Now, the project has suffered another major setback as director Yann Demange has departed the film, per The Wrap.
Demange's departure is being framed as an amicable parting of ways. The filmmaker behind films like "White Boy Rick" and "'71" was first announced as the director of "Blade" in 2022, taking over for Bassam Tariq ("Mogul Mowgli"). All eyes now turn to who will be chosen to fill the empty director's chair. If Marvel Studios and Disney intend to keep the film's current November 2025 release date, they will likely need to hire someone in a hurry.

In “Back to Black,” Jack O’Connell’s Blake Fielder-Civil comes into the life of Amy Winehouse — played by an exceptional Marisa Abela — with seductive bravado, sweeping the singer off her feet on their first meeting in a London pub thanks to, among other things, a lip-synced rendition of the Shangri-La’s “Leader of the Pack”.
As the divisive biopic, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and released in the U.K. by StudioCanal this Friday (and in the U.S. by Focus Features on May 17), agonizingly portrays, the smitten pair quickly descend into violent self-destruction — a “toxic co-dependency” as Fielder-Civil later describes it in the film — fueled by alcoholism and drug abuse.
Many may question the ethics of picking at a tragic story that was heavily chronicled and sensationalized by the media in real-time during Winehouse’s final years. But for anyone who’s been tracking O’Connell’s career, the opportunity to...

Jack O’Connell may be about to be seen on screen in the Amy Winehouse biopic “Back to Black,” but the actor has also stepped behind the camera to shoot a video for another U.K. music icon, Paul Weller.
The Brit — who stars as Winehouse’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil in Sam Taylor-Johnson’s feature alongside Marisa Abela as the late, legendary singer — has made his directorial debut with the music video for “Nothing,” a track set to be part of Weller’s new album “66,” releasing in May.
“It was a good stroke of fortune,” O’Connell tells Variety. “Paul’s been a mate for a while and he’s got a bunch of new music coming out. He asked me to be in [a video] and I said, ‘Can I direct it instead?’ He obliged. And now we’ve edited it and cut it together.”

Earlier this year, it was revealed that frequent collaborators Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan – who have worked on Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever together as director and cast member, and have other collaborations that Coogler didn’t direct – have been developing a new project in secret. Coogler has written the script for this project, which is being described as both a genre picture and a period piece that Coogler will be directing and Jordan is attached to star in. The project is set up at Warner Bros., is expected to have a budget of around $90 million, and is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 7, 2025. We still don’t know exactly what this movie is going to be about… but Deadline reports that Jack O’Connell is in talks to play the villain in it.

Chris Cross, best known as the bassist in the English new wave band Ultravox, has died at 71 years old.
According to reports, Cross (born Chris Allen) died on March 25th, but the news was not made public until longtime bandmate Midge Ure shared a statement on Ultravox’s Instagram paying tribute to “the glue that held the band together.” No cause of death has been revealed.
“We worked together, we played together, made music and directed videos together. We were instant friends as well as Ultravox comrades,” Ure wrote. “Even after years apart we managed to pick up where we left off like the years in between never existed.”
He continued, “You were the glue that held the band together. You were the logic in the madness and the madness in our lives. It was great to know and grow with you. You are loved and missed old friend.”

Exclusive: Greenwich Entertainment has acquired U.S. rights to Copa 71, a documentary about the pioneering “Unofficial Women’s World Cup” that created a sensation in 1971 but has since been virtually erased from history. Rachel Ramsay and James Erskine (Billie) directed the film, which is executive produced by tennis greats Serena and Venus Williams and soccer star Alex Morgan.
Greenwich plans a summer theatrical release of the documentary, a co-production of New Black Films, Dogwoof, and Westbrook Studios.
“In August 1971, soccer teams from England, Argentina, Mexico, France, Denmark, and Italy gathered at Mexico City’s sun-drenched Azteca Stadium,” notes a synopsis of the film. “The scale of the tournament was monumental: lavish sponsorship, extensive TV coverage, merchandise on every street corner, and crowds of over 100,000 roaring fans turn this historic stadium into a cauldron of noise match after match.”
The synopsis continues, “A fawning media treat the players like rock stars.

Dogwoof has launched a new trailer for Rachel Ramsay and James Erskine’s’Copa 71.’
It is August 1971. Football teams from England, Argentina, Mexico, France, Denmark, and Italy have gathered at Mexico City’s sun-drenched Azteca Stadium. The tournament’s scale is monumental: lavish sponsorship, extensive TV coverage, merchandise on every street corner, and crowds of over 100,000 roaring fans turn this historic stadium into a cauldron of noise match after match. A fawning media treat the players like rock stars. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the greatest moments in international football history. But this is a tournament unlike anything that’s happened before. The players on the pitch are all women. And, likely, you’ve never even heard of it. This is Copa ‘71, the pioneering unofficial Women’s World Cup. Dismissed by the governing body and domestic football associations worldwide, this event had been sidelined in history, until now.

There’s a Blade reboot in the works at Marvel Studios that will see the vampire hunter get worked into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there has been some concern that this version of Blade will be watered down in comparison to the R-rated Blade films we got from New Line Cinema a couple decades ago. But during a conversation with Deadline, director Yann Demange assured fans that we don’t have to worry about seeing a PG-13 Blade movie. Like the upcoming MCU film Deadpool 3, the Blade reboot is going to be rated R!
Mahershala Ali is taking on the title role in this reboot, and when Blade came up in his Deadline interview Demange said, “They gave me the R, which is so important. … We are going to have fun, because Mahershala is such a deep actor. I’m excited to show a kind of ruthlessness, a roughness he has,...

It’s one thing to ask a casual soccer fan if they’ve ever heard of the 1971 Women’s World Cup and hear a “No.” It’s another to get the same response from two-time World Cup champion and two-time Olympic gold-medalist Brandi Chastain. Yet that’s how Rachel Ramsay and James Erskine’s documentary Copa 71 begins. They lead the American superstar to the obvious answer about how she actually played in the “first” Women’s World Cup in 1991, then show her two-decades-old footage from the 110,000-seat Azteca Stadium and blow her mind.
With the help of historian David Goldblatt to contextualize the patriarchal and greedy stance of the FIFA organization at that time––and today, considering all that happened in Qatar––this film finally gives a definitive account of what happened to both allow such an event like Copa ‘71 to occur and let it be completely forgotten. If you’re a fan of soccer – or, in most of the world, a fan of the game they know as football – you probably recall some details from this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament held in Australia and New Zealand. If you’re a follower of the Spanish women’s team, for instance, you no doubt remember that they beat England to win the tournament; if you root for the U.S. team, you probably remember (but want to forget) that they barely made it out of the first round and were eliminated in the 16th, becoming the first defending champion not to make the semi-finals.
But fan or not, you likely know nothing at all about the 1971 Campeonato de Fútbol Femeni, known unofficially as the 1971’s Women’s World Cup. At the beginning of “Copa 71,” a documentary about the tournament that screened Thursday on the...

Marvel Studios’ “Blade,” starring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, has found its new director in Yann Demange.
The “Lovecraft Country” and “White Boy Rick” director takes the reins of the vampire slayer movie from Bassam Tariq, who exited the production in September. He will direct from a brand new script by Emmy nominee Michael Starrbury, which is said to be “darker than most MCU movies.”
After Tariq’s departure from the project, which was set to begin production in November, Marvel Studios focused on revamping the story and putting the right team in place, ultimately entering negotiations with Demange. Starrbury also replaces screenwriter Stacy Osei-Kuffour who was originally tapped to write the film’s script.
Last month, Disney delayed “Blade” from its planned Nov. 3, 2023, release date to Sept. 6, 2024, following the production pause. With Demange in place, production on the film, which also stars Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre, is set to resume in Atlanta next year.

Marvel Studios’ Blade is being unsheathed once more, this time with a whole new creative team.
Yann Demange, who directed the pilot of HBO’s boundary-pushing horror series Lovecraft Country, has come aboard to helm the vampire action thriller that still has Mahershala Ali attached to star.
Meanwhile, Michael Starrbury, who earned an Emmy nomination for penning an episode of Ava DuVernay’s drama, When They See Us, has been hired to pen a brand new script for the feature.
The new team puts the project back on track for after losing its original director, Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli) in September. The parting of ways was due to creative differences and occurred suddenly as the project was in pre-production and heading towards a November production start in Atlanta.
Rather than jamming another director in something that clearly needed an overhaul, Marvel pressed pause...

Barry Keoghan reflects on losing Feyd-Rautha role, after rumors of the Irish star appearing in Denis Villeneuve's operatic sci-fi sequel Dune: Part 2 were put to bed by the casting of Elvis star Austin Butler. Keoghan has grown from strength to strength in his acting career over the past decade, appearing in both hard-hitting independent dramas like Calm with Horses and '71 and mainstream blockbusters like the McU's Eternals and DC's The Batman. Most recently, Keoghan delivered a sobering performance as the lively, sharp-tongued, and deeply mistreated Dominic Kearney in Martin McDonagh's black comedy The Banshees of Inisherin.
After the critical and commercial success of Denis Villeneuve's opening adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune, Keoghan was rumored to be pushing further into the world of cinematic blockbusters with a role as the cruel and calculated Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen for the sequel in Dune: Part 2. However, among a list of stars including Harry Styles,...

Scanners, the 1981 horror cult classic from David Cronenberg, is getting the HBO series treatment.
William Bridges, who won an Emmy for co-writing the “USS Callister” episode of Black Mirror, is acting as writer and showrunner for the series, which is in development, with Yann Demange, who helmed the pilot for HBO’s Lovecraft Country, directing. Both will exec produce.
This project will be a co-production between HBO, Media Res Studio and Wayward Films.
Scanners told of a small group of people with a range of psychic, telepathic and telekinetic powers. One faction of scanners, as these people were labeled, was led by a power-mad man named Revok, played by Michael Ironside, who aims to take over the world, while a private security firm recruits its own scanners to stop him for its own, possibly shady, reasons.

Until watching Kenneth Branagh’s wistfully autobiographical “Belfast,” I don’t think I realized that one of Britain’s greatest living actors — a talent who’s embodied everything from Henry V to Hercule Poirot, Kurt Wallander to Laurence Olivier — had been born in Northern Ireland. Maybe that’s because his family got out and moved to Reading, England, when he was 9 years old, just as the Troubles were coming to a boil, which spared him the accent and what could have been a premature end.
That escape makes it easy to guess on which side of the nationalist divide the Branaghs found themselves. Though the conflict has been depicted to the point of exhaustion on-screen — typically as an escalating cycle of senseless brutality, complete with preachy “violence begets violence” sermon — “Belfast” avoids many of the clichés in favor of a more personal look back, through child’s eyes. The affectionate...

With Belfast, Kenneth Branagh shifts gears rewardingly from his Agatha Christie adaptations to a far more personal film about his childhood in Northern Ireland. Set in 1969 during the height of the conflicts between Protestants and Catholics, the feature mainly steers clear of politics to focus on family drama instead. I would guess that Branagh drew inspiration from John Boorman’s masterful 1987 film about his childhood during World War II, Hope and Glory. That is a high bar to match, and Branagh doesn’t quite reach it, but he brings off moments of humor and pathos that leave a lasting impact.
