Even if you haven’t been watching The Mandalorian, chances are that you’re aware of Baby Yoda. Ever since appearing at the end of the Disney Plus show’s first episode, the little green guy has taken the internet by storm, to the point where he’s now overshadowed Pedro Pascal’s title character as the Star Wars fandom’s newest hero.
It probably came as a surprise to even The Mandalorian‘s creative team how quickly the Baby Yoda phenomenon took off, with both memes and merchandise getting released on a seemingly daily basis, as well as the cast and crew of J.J. Abrams’ upcoming The Rise of Skywalker having to field questions about their opinions on the 50 year-old infant alien.

We have a brand new trailer for Disney's Mulan remake. This is the latest in the studio's ongoing effort to revisit its back catalog of animated classics and revamp them in live-action form for modern audiences. So far, with just a couple of misfires aside, that's a strategy that has proved itself to be quite lucrative. In this case, the Mouse House is taking things up a notch by making a grand Chinese-set war epic which will be a markedly different undertaking than say, turning Simba into a lifelike CGI lion for The Lion King remake. In this latest footage, we get a look at the new witch villain Xianniang played by Gong Li.
This is the second Mulan trailer for the movie that has been released. The studio previously unveiled a teaser, as well as a new Mulan poster, but this is a more thorough look at what's...

In a genius move from the studio, we had no idea Baby Yoda was coming before The Mandalorian premiered on Disney Plus’ launch day the other week. As such, the reveal of the adorable little critter sent the internet into meltdown and he’s pretty much all anyone’s been talking about on social media ever since. Everyone’s hoping, then, that he’ll stick around the show for the long term and the good news is that this seems to be the case.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson spoke to The Wrap and the topic of Baby Yoda invariably came up. The filmmaker remarked that he had just visited the set of The Mandalorian a month ago and got a glimpse of the puppet in person. Now, Johnson doesn’t spell it out, but if this happened that recently then that means he saw him on...

We’ve only got a few weeks left now until Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker reaches theaters, and the upcoming ninth main installment of the beloved sci-fi franchise is well into the final stages of ramping up the hype. To the surprise of no one, the movie is looking to do huge business at the box office but also faces a tough task in having to get the fans back on board after the divisive Last Jedi and also tie up over 40 years’ worth of story and deliver a satisfying conclusion.
However, even despite the anticipation reaching an all-time high in recent weeks, The Rise of Skywalker isn’t the most talked-about aspect of the franchise right now. In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last little while, The Mandalorian‘s Baby Yoda has taken the world by storm and has been stealing a lot...

In April, Bts released Map of the Soul: Persona, an instant commercial smash. The seven-piece K-Pop ensemble outsold Beyoncé’s surprise live album, Homecoming, by an enviable margin, and earned their third chart-topping album in less than 11 months. The last group to earn that many number ones as quickly was the Beatles.
But on Wednesday, when the Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 2020 Grammys, Bts were nowhere to be found.

“Welcome to parenthood…”
As much as family is about togetherness, sometimes a temporary separation will do a lot more good than forcing people to be around each other. In fact, time apart can be the best way to become closer. This theory gets tested in various capacities in Shameless’ "Sleep Well My Prince For Tomorrow You Shall Be King.” It's most prevalent in the deconstruction of Ian and Mickey's relationship, but it's also explored in a more abstract sense, whether it's through Lip's parenting hurdles, Carl's return to his old job, or Frank's desire to reacquaint himself with his masculinity. Every character in Shameless further embraces the decisions they've made and the paths that they're on,...

The Mandalorian, which served as a launch title for Disney’s streaming platform, has received a warm critical and audience reception so far by giving us a fresh taste of the Star Wars universe wherein the dilemmas of the millennial-long conflict between the Jedi and the Sith come second to what a bounty hunter must do to survive.
But the exploits of Dyn Jarren (played by Pedro Pascal) as an infamous gunfighter were not the only things that grabbed fans’ attention and dropped many jaws in the first episode. The surprise ending of the premiere left a lot of people speculating about the implications of announcing a certain character in a galaxy far far away.
At the end of the first episode, titled “Chapter One,” we learn that Jarren has been hired to kill an infant from the same species as Yoda, but refuses to do so in the last moment.

The Mandalorian is off to a great start. The centerpiece of the Disney Plus launch has been warmly received by fans and critics and lived up to its ambitions of presenting a slightly different viewpoint on the Star Wars universe than we’re used to. Now, it seems that Disney are so pleased with the series that they’re wondering if it could make it on its own in theaters.
Speaking at the Variety Business Managers Breakfast yesterday morning, Disney Chief Creative Officer and chairman Alan Horn hinted that they’re actively considering the prospect.
“The Mandalorian is already proving to be a big thing, so if that series proves to be so compelling that we reverse engineer it into a theatrical release, a two-hour film or whatever, O.K.”

The team at Warner Animation were enjoying unrivaled success with their 1990s offerings from Animaniacs to Batman: The Animated Series. As a result, as they retired Bats after 65 award-winning episodes, they decided to roll the dice on something bolder. For a change, they were looking to the future and not the comics for inspiration. What if, they wondered, Bruce Wayne aged out of being Batman but the need for the Caped Crusader remained? Who would inherit the mantle of the bat?
As it turns out, they settled on a teen, Terry McGinnis (Will Friedle), to cross paths with Wayne (Kevin Conroy). Where once he relied on Alfred or Oracle for guidance, now he would direct the actions of his unlikely successor in the series Batman Beyond.

Playtime is over. In less than 24 hours, the Academy Award nominations are going to be revealed. It’s exciting, right? It all comes down to this. I finalized my predictions last night and resisted the urge to go over them again this morning, since at this point I probably can only do harm. At a certain juncture, you just begin overthinking things. It’s been out of the voters’ hands for well over a week now, and there’s no more information to be ascertained. It’s simply a matter of waiting for the announcement in less than a day. Tomorrow folks! I know I can’t wait, and I’m sure you feel the same way. Below are my best guesses for how the nominations will go down. For those wondering, I’m actually out on a limb predicting La La Land to tie the all time record with 14 nominations.

Last night, the Gotham Awards pushed momentum toward “Moonlight,” “O.J.: Made in America,” “Manchester By the Sea,” and acting winners Casey Affleck and French star Isabelle Huppert. Next to weigh in: the critics’ groups.
In the review aggregation era, it’s rare for any movie to land a Best Picture nomination without scoring at least 70 on Metacritic; most Oscar winners rank in the 80s and 90s. Critics’ awards can have a huge impact on awards prospects; their spotlights have the power to make movies float to the top of Oscar voters’ screener piles. It’s a fair bet that French star Marion Cotillard has the New York Film Critics Circle to thank for scoring her unexpected Best Actress nomination in 2015 for the Dardennes Bros.’ French-language “Two Days, One Night.”

Time has come! The fourth and final Alice Through the Looking Glass teaser has arrived. And it comes with a very time sensitive announcement. Tomorrow morning, Thursday, November 5th, we'll get the first full-length trailer for Disney's Alice in Wonderland sequel. And it promises to be a very time consuming affair. So you better set your watch, and make time for it! Hurry, time is definitely running out!
This latest teaser hints at the arrival of a brand new character in the world of Wonderland. Sacha Baron Cohen is playing Time himself, a peculiar creature who is part human, part clock. His powers allow Alice to visit all the Wonderland creatures at different points in their lives, from the past to the present. This gives fans prequel stories for some of Lewis Caroll's most infamous characters in his classic story of the same name.

Tomorrow sees the release of Black Mass, the much-anticipated film about the rise and fall of notorious Boston gangster James "Whitey" Bulger. A lot of people have been looking forward to the flick because of a slightly sick (and slightly unavoidable) fascination with the true story. Blame Martin Scorsese and The Departed if you will, but South Boston mobsters often make for terribly addicting big screen tales. Bulger was perhaps the most famous (and most feared) Beantown mob boss during his reign in the 70s and 80s, and his made-for-cinema capture after two decades on the lam only makes for a better story. Black Mass spares no expense in the street crime department, showing audiences...

As AMC looks to the future, attempting to fill its schedule with shows that could one day garner similar acclaim to the recently concluded Mad Men and Breaking Bad, the network is taking a bold step forward into science-fiction. Its new series Humans grapples with artificial intelligence, a topic that 2015 has been having quite a field day with between Ex Machina and Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the latest teaser for Humans, though, the series calls back to a key moment from actioner I, Robot, one of the first Hollywood productions to take on AI directly.
There’s another teaser over at THR, which focuses on android Anita (Gemma Chan), whose status as an AI being brings her into conflict with the mother (Katherine Parkinson) she’s tasked with aiding.
AMC also unveiled a lengthy synopsis for Humans, which you can check out below. The show starts June 28.

With the world’s most prestigious film festival just around the corner, cineastes have been lasciviously salivating about what’s going to show up at Cannes, with wish lists appearing almost immediately after Berlin (a fest that had one of their most impressive line-ups ever) announced their awards. The remainder of the 2015 fest circuit looks to be a plentiful, diverse porridge, with many of the world’s most renowned auteurs’ sporting brand new titles. While many prognosticators will be sharing the same lists, more or less, hopes are incredibly high for a handful of sure bets, and a gaggle of hopefuls. The main competition always seems easier to postulate, though Thierry Fremaux always throws a few curves, (After the Battle in 2012, The Hunt in 2013 or last year’s Timbuktu, which won the Cesar for Best Picture recently, are a couple ready examples of under-the-radar titles).
Italy seems primed for saturation at the fest.

Tomorrow, the Directors Guild of America will announce their nominations for their 67th annual awards, so let’s take a look at whose names we’ll most likely be seeing in those five coveted slots for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Motion Pictures.
Last year, it wasn’t particularly hard to narrow down the five finalists. We had solid locks with Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity), Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave), David O. Russell (American Hustle), and Martin Scorsese (The Wolf of Wall Street). That final slot had a couple of potential names that could have filled it, but Paul Greengrass (Captain Phillips) seemed the most likely candidate, and indeed was chosen by the DGA. However, the Academy decided to replace him later on with Alexander Payne for the over-hyped and disappointing Nebraska.

While some Afm buyers were sitting on their wallets and spilling blood this year in hopes of scoring Quentin Tarantino’s Hateful Eight, others were ponying up for the schlock and genre awe that still sells in Santa Monica. This year a new trend brought heat to the halls of the Loews: Ebola. Not just ebola, but ebola zombies. Is anyone out there ready to see ebola spread to the undead?
Here’s one way to defuse the tacky sensationalism of Afm schlock-hawking: Apologize in advance. “Is it too soon?” genre seller Rob Hauschild asked the buyers and lookyloos who stopped, did double takes, and even took selfies with the poster for Ebola Zombies this year. He’d break the ice with a smile and a sheepish shrug. “I’m sorry!”
