Dragon Ball isn't known for its romantic relationships, even if it has many. Its iconic couples include Goku and Chi-Chi, Krillin and Android 18, and Gohan and Videl, but the best pairing by far is Vegeta and Bulma. To everyone's surprise, Vegeta and Bulma quickly took the role of Dragon Ball's best couple. Somehow, Akira Toriyama has been notorious for not caring about romance, yet wrote one of the best romances in anime.
For over four decades, Vegeta and Bulma have entertained many fans. They have two kids and many romantic moments throughout the Dragon Ball narrative, with one as the primary motivation for the other's character growth. The path that led to Vegeta and Bulma's star-crossed love affair has much more to it than your typical anime romance, which is the type of attention to detail that makes the overall Dragon Ball story so great to begin with.

Awards prognostication lives and dies on hypotheticals, and if it didn’t, it wouldn’t be worth putting much energy on it. Case in point: We now enter the part of our rolling awards coverage that we’re calling “How Many Oscars Will Sean Baker Win in One Night?” I’ve got no proof here, so you’ll have to take my word for it: Before the official start of the awards season, I saw best picture as Anora’s to lose, and that it was difficult to imagine anyone but Brady Corbet winning best director. And then Baker won the DGA award.
Since the inception of the DGA, the award for outstanding direction of a feature film has predicted the winner of the Oscar for best director on all but eight occasions. Even putting aside that half of those divergences have occurred in the last 25 years, those stats should...

Is there any star working today with a career as varied as Marion Cotillard? Anyone who has moved as effortlessly between Hollywood blockbusters — Inception, Dark Knight, Public Enemies — and indies (The Immigrant and Macbeth), from slapstick action comedy like the Taxi films — the French pre-Fast and the Furious car racing franchise that first made her a star — to auteur dramas like Rust and Bone, Annette, and Two Days, One Night?
“I just read scripts and, no matter the genre, if it’s a comedy or a drama, when I feel I can bring something to the movie, that’s when I choose to be part of it,” Cotillard says, speaking via Zoom from her home in Paris. “I don’t plan anything [but] I feel very lucky that I can go between totally different worlds.”
The world Cotillard enters in The Ice Tower, which has its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival on Feb.

Return of the King: The Fall and Rise of Elvis Presley is Netflix's newest musical documentary, examining Elvis's tumultuous career and highlighting some of the songs he performed in his famous 1968 comeback special. The 1968 Elvis comeback special was a pivotal moment in his career, seeing him return to the stage after years of working in the film industry at the request of his manager, Colonel Tom Parker. Feeling dissatisfied with the lack of artistry in his movies, the special was a return to form for the iconic singer.
Though some of Elvis Presley's best movies, such as Viva Las Vegas, are considered classics, Elvis is known best in pop culture history for his influence on music. The drama is Alshlahei’s third feature and collaboration with writer Mufarrij Almajfel after Zero Distance and The Tambour of Retribution which was Saudi Arabia’s Best International Feature Film Entry for the 94th Academy Awards in 2021.
The allegorical picture is set in the 1990s, a pivotal period of change for Saudi Arabia triggered by the Gulf War, which saw the country briefly start to open-up to the outside world after years of isolation, sparking cultural and social clashes between long-standing traditions and new waves of change.
In the movie, the mother considers rebelling against the patriarch when a young daughter falls ill and needs medical treatment, sparking an urgent need to come out of isolation.

Amazon Prime Video has released first-look images of Michael Sheen and Ruth Wilson in A Very Royal Scandal, a series following the BBC’s infamous interview with Prince Andrew about Jeffrey Epstein.

In ancient times, the Etruscan civilization built elaborate underground tombs not to please human eyes but those of the spirit world. A similar spirit of feeling unbound from the pressures of the present-day animates Italian filmmaker Alice Rohrwacher’s La Chimera, a 1980s-set adventure following a roving group of tomb raiders who attempt to excavate and pillage these secret sanctuaries. The director has always depicted time as layered rather than strictly linear. The present exists not ahead the past but on top of it, and the moments she depicts will one day be history for another era. This vision lends the sensation that she, like the ancient culture she depicts, is communicating with something beyond our perception.
Rohrwacher finds a perfect partner in her search for the sublime with Josh O’Connor. The English actor provides a human incarnation of the director’s restless attempt to collapse the contradictions of time.

Out of all the Oscars sweeps in history, only three movies have ever won the Big Five categories in the same year. There has long been a debate about what the most beautiful word in the world is. For music fans, the coupling of “free” and “Justin Timberlake” ranks right up there.

The surprise concert was announced Friday on Timberlake’s social media accounts. No word on the purpose of the free show, but speculation suggests it’s to stir up interest in forthcoming new music.
Timberlake had a fairly quiet 2023, performing just twice publicly, including an Nsync reunion at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. He was also laying low for a time when Britney Spears’ memoir revealed embarrassing details of their prior relationship.

At the end of 2021, a surprise contender zoomed toward a best picture nomination when Ryûsuke Hamaguchi’s Drive My Car began to sweep critics groups’ awards across the country. The Japanese drama earned the prize for best film from critics in Boston, Los Angeles, New York and Seattle, besting then-frontrunners Dune and The Power of the Dog and eventual best picture winner Coda. Buoyed by critical acclaim, Drive My Car went the extra mile beyond the international feature category, which it won: It also earned Academy Award nominations for best picture, director and original screenplay, way outpacing any predictions made by prognosticators when the season had begun in earnest.
People often deride the Oscars for being about artsy films most moviegoers don’t see. But the fact remains that it’s the studio-backed movies with fat FYC budgets that typically garner Oscar nominations — making Drive My Car’s success all the more the outlier.

Taika Waititi directed Thor: Ragnarok for money and to support his family, which is nothing to be ashamed of. Despite taking on the project for financial reasons, Waititi still brought passion and delivered a critically acclaimed and commercially successful film. Waititi's admission shouldn't be met with negativity, as many actors and directors have taken on projects solely for financial needs. Ultimately, it's a job, and he gave it his all.
Like any other profession, directing is a job. It's a field that requires a great deal of passion, but sometimes projects aren't chosen based on an unwavering need to get something made.
