Nirvana’s Nevermind has just become only the ninth release to spend 700 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart. When you eliminate greatest-hits compilations, it’s only the fourth studio LP to achieve that milestone.
The game-changing 1991 album sits at No. 120 on the latest Billboard 200 chart, it’s 700th non-consecutive week on the overall albums tally. As far as studio albums are considered, only Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon (990 weeks), Metallica’s “Black Album” (767 weeks), and Bruno Mars’ Doo-Wops & Hooligans (706 weeks) top Nirvana’s sophomore LP.
Among the other releases in the Top 9 are greatest-hits collections from Bob Marley and the Wailers (865 weeks), Journey (835 weeks), Creedence Clearwater Revival (724 weeks), Eminem (714 weeks), and Guns N’ Roses (704 weeks).
Upon its release in September 1991, Nevermind changed the face of rock music. At a time when hair metal was dominating MTV and radio airwaves, the Nirvana album helped usher in a grunge and alternative revolution,...

Available from Boom! Studios this December, we have an exclusive first look at In Bloom #1, the "premiere issue of a brand new boundary-pushing sci-fi series" from writer Michael W. Conrad, illustrator John J. Pearson, and letterer Pat Brosseau.
"43% of the cells within a healthy human body belong to something other than the human host. Microbiomes, invasive bacteria, fungal and viral agents, and something else. Something…more.
When the Bloom finally happened, humanity was changed forever, transformed by the symbiotic fungal megasystems that infected their bodies. Some of the affected grew new body parts, some found their personalities changed in radical new ways, while others reported contact with an intelligence that was not their own.
In this bold new world, Agent Spears finds himself investigating a series of mysterious murders, a chain of violence that leads him to a terrifying question on which the fate of every living being rests."

Jazz Band Creates Dazzling Cover of Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box” After One Listen to Original: Watch
Playing by ear is one of the necessary skills of a jazz musician — a skill that was put to the test when drummer Ulysses Owens Jr. and his band Generation Y were challenged with covering Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box” after hearing the song one time.
For Owens — a Juilliard jazz instructor — it was his second time being challenged with covering Nirvana on the spot. He was tasked with spontaneously playing “In Bloom” earlier this year as part of Drumeo’s ongoing “For the First Time” video series, which we’ve covered on multiple occasions here at Heavy Consequence, including Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith’s viral performance of Thirty Seconds to Mars’ “The Kill.”
The new clip comes via Musora — part of the Drumeo family — and Owens is once again greeted with a Nirvana song he’s never heard before. In fact, it appears most of his bandmates...

The new act of Valorant is live, and with it comes the promise of a new agent coming soon. There has been a lot of speculation regarding the arrival of a new agent, with players reading into subtle hints planted in the reveal trailer of the new map Abyss and the announcement trailer of Act 9 episode 1.
In the Abyss reveal trailer, a monstrous hand was revealed, stuck in an hourglass-shaped vessel that woke up after some bullets penetrated the glass. Along with this, in the Episode 9 Act 1 trailer, vines are seen coming out of the ground over Jett’s blades and a phantom, which causes speculation about the sentinel-like abilities of the new agent, which seems to be drawing heavy inspiration from Hermit Purple from Jojo’s bizarre adventures.

A new deluxe reissue of Nirvana’s In Utero, is out today (October 27th) to coincide with the album’s 30th anniversary.
The original In Utero arrived after Nirvana had already become global superstars, and is thematically characterized by the band’s discomfort with their status, particularly from frontman, Kurt Cobain. Celebrating it on the occasion of its 25th anniversary in 2018, Consequence contributor Ryan Bray praised the album as “arguably the truest representation of what Nirvana was: a massive act with the principles and integrity of one half its size… It’s a difficult but ironclad document of artistic bravery.”
Now, the album is being honored in a whole new fashion. Among the 53 unreleased tracks are two full In Utero-era concerts, including the band’s final performance in Seattle, as well as six bonus live tracks recorded at various shows around the same time. Additionally, the album’s original tracklist,...

Norah Jones hosts a podcast called Norah Jones is Playing Along, where she welcomes fellow musicians for an hour of conversation and live collaboration. Her latest episode features Dave Grohl.
The episode was recorded back in April prior to the release of Foo Fighters’ latest album, But Here We Are, but is only being released today. It’s an absolutely phenomenal listen.
During their 90-minute powwow, Jones and Grohl performed several songs together, including a few Foo Fighters rarities that Grohl hadn’t played in years — or ever, for that matter. Notably, with Jones’ backing on piano, Grohl played “Statues,” from 2007’s Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, for the very first time. He also revisited “Razor” and the Jones duet “Virginia Moon,” two songs from In Your Honor that hadn’t been performed live since 2006.

Nandi Bushell may have been born in 2011, but her cover of Queens of the Stone Age’s “No One Knows” proves she’s skilled beyond her years. The 9-year-old played Dave Grohl’s drum parts perfectly — he briefly played with the band in 2001 — on the song that appeared on Songs for the Deaf.
The clip features Bushell in overalls and a rainbow-striped shirt, playing the drum fill before the final verse. She bounces up and down ecstatically, twirling the drum stick in her hand and sticking her tongue out at the camera.

Ellen Degeneres often brings talented kids onto her show to introduce them to a wider audience — you can thank her for Mason Ramsey’s sudden success — and it’s pretty amazing to see children who can play musical instruments better than most adults.

Haim are the latest music group to stop by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, and as per tradition, the trio performed a recent hit (“Summer Girl”) along with a cover of another artist – in this case, Lil Nas X’s latest single “Panini.” But Haim put a twist on the rapper’s song, mashing it up with Nirvana’s “In Bloom,” which the original “Panini” interpolates.
It’s a fun transition from programmed drums and synths into full-on grunge rock, with Danielle Haim doing her best Kurt Cobain impression.

“Old Town Road” is so much more than a hit at this point — it’s like centuries of American music were all building up to these 113 seconds of genius. Lil Nas X’s yeehaw manifesto has been the great national obsession ever since it blew up in March, which feels like years ago. But it shows no signs of fading. Fresh off his Billy Ray Cyrus remix, Nas just dropped another with Young Thug and country child star Mason Ramsey. He just announced he wants to do one with Dolly Parton and Megan Thee Stallion.

When a new artist is coming off a massive Number One breakout hit, the burning question is always whether or not they can shake that multi-platinum devil off their back and prove they have something more to say that can keep our attention. With Lil Nas X that’s an especially big problem: of the hundreds of millions of people who’ve fallen in love with “Old Town Road,” virtually none of them had previously heard of the Atlanta-born memelord-turned-artist behind his borderline-gimmicky country-rap smash. Thanks to the Billy Ray Cyus-featuring, Nine Inch Nails-sampling “Old Town Road,” Lil Nas X has established himself as a genre-bending phenomenon. The country-rap track has dominated the charts for much of the spring and summer, and on his follow-up to the unexpected smash he further celebrates the glory of 1991. “Panini,” the first song to be released from a forthcoming Ep, leads with an interpolation of Nirvana’s “In Bloom” — which was also, apparently, Nas’ introduction to the music of Nirvana.

Last year and again this year we are invited to attend the Sarajevo Film Festival by Asja Makarević, Project Manager for Sarajevo Talent Campus. If you are going, look for Peter Belsito there!
Sarajevo Film Festival (August 16-24, 2013), now in its 19th year, is an international film festival with special focus on the region of Southeast Europe, it provides high quality programming, a strong industry segment, an educational platform for young filmmakers, the presence of numerous representatives of film industry, film authors and media representatives from all over the world, as well as over 100,000 visitors, thus confirming the festival's status, renowned and recognized by film professionals as well as by its audience.
It serves as a catalyst for cooperation within the region, and establishes connections with partners from all over the world. It also represents a platform for development of film business in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the region, as well as setting new standards of festival organization and film presentation. While Karlovy Vary Film Festival has the Best of the East which gives a good view of finished films from Eastern Europe and is especially kind to journalists around the world, Sarajevo simultaneously hosts Cinelink, a very pro-active co-production market and workshop and Talent Campus which is a part of the Berlinale. This general networking of the world film industry is even more interesting because of its location in the city of Sarajevo itself. After the 4 year long siege of Sarajevo, it was founded as a means to recreate civil society of the City in 1995.
American actor/activist Danny Glover will curate and present the award for this year's Katrin Cartlidge Foundation Award to a new cinematic voice whose work embodies Katrin Cartlidge’s “integrity of spirit and commitment to independent film”. Cartlidge, who died in 2002, was a British actress best known for her work with Mike Leigh and whose last role in the Bosnian filmmaker Danis Tanović’s No Man’s Land. Over the past nine years the Foundation has appointed a curator, selected from Cartlidge’s friends and colleagues, who in turn chooses a recipient for the annual award, a cash bursary, which is announced at a special red carpet gala at the Festival.
This year, all the selections of the Sff Competition Programme will present a total of 50 films. This brings the best of regional cinema and follows the Sarajevo Film Festival strategy of discovering new talents, approaches and tendencies rooted in the world cinema today.
For the final line-up of the Competition Program, programmers and the Sarajevo Film Festival team saw 750 films from the region, including 200 feature films, 150 documentaries and 400 short and animated films. This year's selection, but also the general interest in our Competition selections, encourages the Sarajevo Film Festival in its determination to continue working on strengthening regional film production, promotion and film distribution. This is even more strongly emphasized by the fact that this year, in its three Competition selections, the Festival brings 14 world premieres, 7 international and 19 regional ones.

With an average conversion rate of its selected projects from development to production at 60% over the past decade, CineLink has grown into one of the most successful development and financing platforms in Europe. With its CineLink, CineLink Plus and Work in Progress sections it caters for projects in all stages of development, as well as projects in production and postproduction. CineLink also offers an awards fund of over 160,000 Euros in cash and services. CineLink is open for feature-length fiction film projects with potential for theatrical distribution, created by authors from Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Malta, Macedonia, Montenegro, Moldavia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey. As part of CineLink, a new project called Regional Forum was first launched in 2009, organised in cooperation with Screen International, one of the leading global magazines in film industry. Regional Forum, conceived as a platform offering a discussion framework for relevant national and regional film organisations and professionals from Southeast Europe, also encourages the harmonisation of national film policies and offers a possibility for exchange of good ideas and practices. Sarajevo Talent CampusSarajevo Talent Campus, the educational and networking platform for emerging filmmakers from Southeast Europe, was launched in 2007 in cooperation with Berlin International Film Festival and Berlinale Talent Campus. The programme offers inspiring lectures, panel discussions, and active critical debates, complemented by workshops, practical tutorials, screenings and inter-festival excursions for participants. The 7th Sarajevo Talent Campus, taking place from the 18th to the 24th of August, will be inviting scriptwriters, directors, actors, producers and film critics. Participation in Sarajevo Talent Campus is open to candidates from: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Malta, Macedonia, Montenegro, Moldavia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey. 18th Sarajevo Film Festival By Numbers:
• 21 Programmes • 210 Films From 57 Countries• 10 Venues • 330 Employees and 280 Volunteers• More Than 1000 Accredited Guests • More Than 800 Accredited Media Representatives From 32 Countries • More Than 100,000 Visitors At All The Programs
Sarajevo City Of FilmAs the continuation of the activities in accordance with the goals set by the Sarajevo Talent Campus, the Sarajevo City of Film Fund was launched in 2008. The project is aimed at testing the knowledge and experience gained by the Sarajevo Talent Campus participants through the practical application in realisation of low-budget short films, as well as development of cooperation between the young creative authors whose work represents the future of the regional cinematography. Sarajevo City of Film Project has so far led to the filming of 20 short films screened worldwide and won numerous festivals awards.
