Gravity Falls and Kim Possible are two of Disney Channel's most popular cartoons. Though the shows are exponentially different, there are some surprising similarities in certain episode plots. With one show following two twins who aim to uncover the mysteries of the strange town they're spending the summer in and the other following a teen hero who frequently saves the world with her best friend, one would think there wouldn't be much in common.
However, the situations that Dipper, Mabel, Kim and Ron get themselves into share eerily congruent factors that may lead one to think that there was some inspiration drawn from the classic action/coming-of-age series. Even though the shows are from and represent different eras of Disney Channel, it's clear that Kim Possible left an impression for how to create a successful Disney Channel cartoon. Kim Possible concluded its run in 2007 with Gravity Falls premiering on...

The Beatles are Grammy winners. That goes without saying, but the fact that the legendary band is still collecting trophies in 2025 is quite a feat considering it was 60 years ago that they won Best New Artist from the Recording Academy. This year they received two nominations: Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance for “Now and Then.” They won in the latter category during pre-televised portion of the awards, bringing their all-time total to eight.
“Play the Beatles’ music to your kids,” said John Lennon‘s son Sean Ono Lennon, who accepted the award. “I feel like the world can’t afford to forget about people like the Beatles. We need this music in the world; we need peace and love.”
It’s surprising that the Beatles haven’t won more given their world renown and influence on rock ‘n’ roll. Before Sunday, the band had only collected seven previous trophies,...

Sean Ono Lennon has shared his thoughts on the lingering impact John Lennon had on his mother Yoko Ono, believing that she “never has moved on from that relationship”.
Sean expressed his sentiment on the relationship between his late father and his mother in an interview with BBC Radio 6 Music. Host Chris Hawkins asked if he had learned anything new about either of his parents while compiling the boxset for John Lennon’s Mind Games (order here), prompting Sean to reflect on his recent discoveries.
“The truth is, even when they were apart they were always talking, so I don’t think they ever really broke up, all his stuff was still in the apartment with my mum, it’s not like they had a real separation. You’ve probably meditated to John Lennon’s music before, but now you can do it with an official soundtrack.
Back in May, Lennon’s estate partnered with Lumenate to deliver nine meditation mixes of “Mind Games,” the title track to his 1973 record. The song’s mixes are slowed down and extended — with four focusing on the brain waves Beta, Delta, Gamma, and Theta — that work with the app’s frequencies to drive listeners deeper into consciousness. In addition, the nine mixes are paired with the phone’s flashlight to create a trippy psychedelic experience.

Pap Chanel is ready to shock the world with her latest EP, "Paptivities." After a nearly two-year gap between 2021's "Pretty & Paid 2.0" and her new six-track project, released May 12, the rising rapper tells Popsugar why she took her time crafting "Paptivities" - and why the EP sounds vastly different from her previous releases. "On this project right here, every song sounds completely different," Chanel explains. "I have one song where I'm telling my fans all my business. I'm super excited for that one because people don't really get to hear transparency from artists. This is a record where I got really vulnerable and talked about the good, bad, and the ugly."
The record in question is the EP's opener, "Pap Stories," an introspective track where Chanel raps about everything from wearing "war wounds" to brushing off haters who doubted her. As promised, every other song on "Paptivities" adopts a different...

Original Matilda star Mara Wilson struggled with early fame as a child star due to fans sexualizing her.
In an interview with The Guardian, Wilson opened up about her time as an in-demand child actor in such '90s hits as Mrs. Doubtfire, Miracle on 34th Street and Danny DeVito's Matilda film adaptation. Though Wilson admits she felt "safe" on film sets thanks to her mother and the successful directors she worked with, that did not shield her from older fans who made inappropriate passes at her in the early days of the internet. "I had people sending me inappropriate letters and posting things about me online," Wilson recalled. "I made the mistake of Googling myself when I was 12 and saw things that I couldn't unsee."

Few film books in recent memory made waves like Adam Nayman’s Paul Thomas Anderson: Masterworks, a too-rare melange of authorial talent, topical interest, and opulent presentation. Last year Nayman and I spoke at length about the tome that no doubt you’ve seen in bookstores (big and small alike) since.
Nayman has returned with David Fincher: Mind Games, another Abrams-published doorstop on another double-capital-a American Auteur, lined again with essays that surprise in their capacity to find new perspectives and provocative readings on films for which there seemed no more room. Finally able to talk in person—thus, you’ll (please) read, at greater length—we sat down for a talk on writing thousands of words on someone for whom a consistent critical standing is tougher than meets the eye.

Two boys are sitting on a hill at the edge of a forest, under a massive stone wall towering above them. Dreaming, laughing, joking, like any other teenagers. The menacing sound of a doorbell foreshadows their happiness, and we begin to understand: the protagonists of the film are living between the walls of a juvenile detention center. This is “Mis hermanos sueñan despiertos” (My Brothers Dream Awake), the new film of the Mapuche Chilean filmmaker Claudia Huaiquimilla, which premiered in the Cineasti del Presente competition at the 74th Locarno Film Festival.
Huaiquimilla’s second feature follows the boys Ángel and Franco (non-professional actors Iván Cáceres and César Herrera), two brothers who have been locked up for a year in a National Service for Minors (Sename) center, awaiting trial. So what does a young superstar spend his time thinking about? Classic rock, mostly, along with the occasional movie or TV show. Harry Styles has always been a voracious scholar of pop history — the kind of guy who obsesses over John and Yoko album covers and Fleetwood Mac deep cuts. “We’re all just fans,” he says. “I’m just a music fan who happens to make some.” These are just a few of Harry’s favorite things — some influences, some inspirations, some heroes.

Chances are, if you’re a longtime fan of Halo, you’ve been interested to see how the upcoming TV series will fare. That being said, when it comes to the highly-anticipated small screen adaptation, one’s level of devotion is not put to the test so much as one’s amount of patience.
It’s been over six years since 343 Industries announced it would be producing a live-action series alongside Steven Spielberg. The show has been through development hell since then – at one point, District 9 director Neill Blomkamp was attached to the project. Then, last year, Kyle Killen was hired as showrunner and executive producer, with Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) to direct and produce. A few unceremonious months later, Wyatt stepped down from the series due to scheduling conflicts.

Master Chief will appear as a character on the upcoming Showtime series adaptation of “Halo,” Showtime president and CEO David Nevins and president of programming Gary Levin told reporters on Monday at the Television Critics Association press tour panel for the network. But whether or not fans will be able to see Master Chief’s face still remains a mystery.
“It is a key question and an important part of our series,” said Levin. “He is a lead character.”
In June, Showtime had announced that Rupert Wyatt (“Planet of the Apes”) would direct several episodes of the 10-episode season written by Kyle Killen, who will also act as showrunner. While fans can expect huge set pieces and battles, the series will also be heavy on character-based drama as well.

Tom Hanks is attached to star in a hot new sci-fi project called Bios, which is currently being shopped to studios, with several potential bidders eyeing the project. Among them are Legendary, Warner Bros. and Studio 8, but whichever studio lands this project, they're expected to get to work rather quickly, with production being eyed to start in the first quarter of 2018, after the busy schedule of Tom Hanks starts to clear up.
The script was written by Craig Luck and Ivor Powell, which is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. The story centers on a robot built by its ailing creator (Tom Hanks) to take care of his beloved dog, as he starts to fade away. Along the way, this robot learns about love, friendship and the meaning of human life. No further details were given about the story, or how many other characters still need to be cast. We're one step closer to seeing Shadyside on the big screen, as 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment have hired a writer to pen their film based on Fear Street, the popular book series that R.L. Stine created before Goosebumps.
The Tracking Board reports that Kyle Killen has been hired to write the screenplay for the Fear Street film. The movie is expected to be an adaptation of the book series, although Stine himself recently revealed on Twitter that "the Fear Street movie will be an original story" and to "watch for it next year." He also mentioned that "there may be more than one Fear Street movie."
Killen has worked steadily as a writer since the early 2010s, working on the TV series Lone Star, Awake, and Mind Games, as well as writing the screenplays for the Jodie Foster-directed The Beaver, the thriller Scenic Route, and the upcoming Sinbad.

New biopic starts where the Ballad of John and Yoko left off.
John Lennon and Yoko Ono introduced Nutopia at a press conference in New York City on April Fool's Day 1973. The conceptual country was to be a new utopia, open to all. Lennon even wrote the "Nutopian International Anthem" for his 1973 album Mind Games. The song, apparently inspired by John Cage, consists of 4 seconds of silence. John and Yoko played with art forms throughout the post-Beatles era, trying to make a universal noise. So who better to produce a John Lennon and Yoko Ono movie focusing on their love story than Universal Pictures? The studio is in negotiations to option the rights to upcoming biopic, according to Variety.

The director behind the insanely epic Game of Thrones episode "Battle of the Bastards," Miguel Sapochnick, has just landed another feature film directing gig. Studio 8 has hired him to develop a new Sinbad film with writer Kyle Killen, who is the creator of the TV series Lone Star and Mind Games.
If you've been watching Game of Thrones, then you know that directing those episodes looks like it is just as daunting as directing an epic big budget feature film. The episode "Battle of the Bastards" is easily one of the most epic things HBO or any other network has done for TV.
THR says that the film will be a reimagining of the legendary Sinbad, who was introduced in The Arabian Nights. The Sinbad stories "followed the rising and falling fortunes of a wily sailor who finds himself stranded on various islands or lands. After each adventure, he returns...

Death Note is one of those films that's been in development for a long time. Sure, it's no Alita: The Battle Angel or Akira (both of which have already likely been in development for nearly a decade or more), but all things considered, it's gone through a lot of different hands. Adapting material is hard enough, but adapting material from a foreign country comes with all kinds of other issues such as cultural differences and tonal expectations.
It's had a winding road of development, but has now landed under the direction of The Blair Witch and The Guest director Adam Wingard, and Mind Games series creator Kyle Killen for the script. Before the script landed on Killen's desk, however, it went through several others, including that of Fantastic Four writer and The Exorcist series creator Jeremy Slater.

Christian Slater has signed on to USA Network’s upcoming hacker thriller serial, Mr. Robot. Nabbing the titular role, Slater will topline his first show after his star turn in ABC’s Mind Games.
Before we address who exactly Slater’s character is, let’s take a look at the show’s premise. Thanks to Deadline, we’ve got a decent amount of detailed story information that has piqued our interest. Mr. Robot “centers on a young programmer, Elliot (Rami Malek), who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them. He will find himself in the intersection between a cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations recruiting him to bring down corporate America.”
It’s a surprise that there’s still such interest in hacking, especially since it’s unlikely any series or movie could ever better 1995’s Hackers.
