Back in May, Lennon’s estate partnered with Lumenate to deliver nine meditation mixes of “Mind Games,” the title track to his 1973 record. The song’s mixes are slowed down and extended — with four focusing on the brain waves Beta, Delta, Gamma, and Theta — that work with the app’s frequencies to drive listeners deeper into consciousness. In addition, the nine mixes are paired with the phone’s flashlight to create a trippy psychedelic experience.

Four months after graduating from Nida, Yerin Ha has landed her first major screen role in an ambitious Us cable series co-produced by Steven Spielberg.

The Korean-Australian actor will have an ongoing role in Halo, an adaptation of the Xbox video game which depicts a 26th Century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant.

American Gods’ Pablo Schreiber plays the lead, Master Chief, Earth’s most advanced warrior who is the only hope of salvation for a civilisation pushed to the brink of destruction by the Covenant.

Yerin is cast as Quan Ah, a shrewd, audacious 16-year-old from the Outer Colonies who meets Master Chief at a fateful time for both.

The series is produced by Showtime in partnership with 343 Industries along with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television. Production will begin in the northern autumn in Budapest, Hungary.

Master Chief will appear as a character on the upcoming Showtime series adaptation of “Halo,” Showtime president and CEO David Nevins and president of programming Gary Levin told reporters on Monday at the Television Critics Association press tour panel for the network. But whether or not fans will be able to see Master Chief’s face still remains a mystery.

“It is a key question and an important part of our series,” said Levin. “He is a lead character.”

In June, Showtime had announced that Rupert Wyatt (“Planet of the Apes”) would direct several episodes of the 10-episode season written by Kyle Killen, who will also act as showrunner. While fans can expect huge set pieces and battles, the series will also be heavy on character-based drama as well.

Showtime has given a 10-episode series order to Halo (working title), an hourlong live-action scripted drama based on the award-winning Xbox video game franchise, from Awake creator Kyle Killen, Rise of the Planet of the Apes helmer Rupert Wyatt and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television.

Killen serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner of the series. Wyatt will direct multiple episodes and also executive produce. Halo (wt) is produced by Showtime in association with Microsoft/343 Industries and Amblin TV. Production is slated to begin in early 2019.

The Amblin TV project was originally announced in 2013 as one of the big series to launch XBox’s original content effort. It moved to Showtime shortly after XBox Entertainment Studios was shut down in 2014 and has been in discussions at the premium cable network for almost four years, with various creative auspices in talks for it over the years.

We're one step closer to seeing Shadyside on the big screen, as 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment have hired a writer to pen their film based on Fear Street, the popular book series that R.L. Stine created before Goosebumps.

The Tracking Board reports that Kyle Killen has been hired to write the screenplay for the Fear Street film. The movie is expected to be an adaptation of the book series, although Stine himself recently revealed on Twitter that "the Fear Street movie will be an original story" and to "watch for it next year." He also mentioned that "there may be more than one Fear Street movie."

Killen has worked steadily as a writer since the early 2010s, working on the TV series Lone Star, Awake, and Mind Games, as well as writing the screenplays for the Jodie Foster-directed The Beaver, the thriller Scenic Route, and the upcoming Sinbad.

New biopic starts where the Ballad of John and Yoko left off.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono introduced Nutopia at a press conference in New York City on April Fool's Day 1973. The conceptual country was to be a new utopia, open to all. Lennon even wrote the "Nutopian International Anthem" for his 1973 album Mind Games. The song, apparently inspired by John Cage, consists of 4 seconds of silence. John and Yoko played with art forms throughout the post-Beatles era, trying to make a universal noise. So who better to produce a John Lennon and Yoko Ono movie focusing on their love story than Universal Pictures? The studio is in negotiations to option the rights to upcoming biopic, according to Variety.

Well, it's happened again. A major studio is working on an ambitious project, and they've turned to Game of Thrones to find someone to helm it. This time the property is Sinbad, and the director is Miguel Sapochnik.

Sinbad is one of the most enduring fantasy heroes in all of literature, and Studio 8 is hoping to put together a new film based on him with the hope of striking gold.

Death Note is one of those films that's been in development for a long time. Sure, it's no Alita: The Battle Angel or Akira (both of which have already likely been in development for nearly a decade or more), but all things considered, it's gone through a lot of different hands. Adapting material is hard enough, but adapting material from a foreign country comes with all kinds of other issues such as cultural differences and tonal expectations.

Coincidentally having a pilot on its slate called Mr. Robot, the network has now picked it up for series – realizing the potential interest in a show set in the murky world of computer hacking. The network recently announced its intention to focus on drama, and Mr. Robot is one of five drama pilots it ordered in 2014.

Kyle Killen has found a new home. After years at 20th Century Fox Television, the showrunner behind Awake, Mind Games and Lone Star has inked an overall deal with Paramount Television and Anonymous Content, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Under the two-year, first-look deal, Killen will develop scripted fare for broadcast, cable, premium cable and streaming services. Additionally, Killen has launched a production shingle, ironically called Chapter Eleven, and tapped former AMC scripted vp Scott Pennington to oversee the company. Christian Slater has signed on to USA Network’s upcoming hacker thriller serial, Mr. Robot. Nabbing the titular role, Slater will topline his first show after his star turn in ABC’s Mind Games.

Before we address who exactly Slater’s character is, let’s take a look at the show’s premise. Thanks to Deadline, we’ve got a decent amount of detailed story information that has piqued our interest. Mr. Robot “centers on a young programmer, Elliot (Rami Malek), who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them. He will find himself in the intersection between a cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations recruiting him to bring down corporate America.”

It’s a surprise that there’s still such interest in hacking, especially since it’s unlikely any series or movie could ever better 1995’s Hackers.
