Netflix has been digging heavily into true-crime over the last few years and it’s seemingly paying off.

In the streamer’s latest data dump – its What We Watched engagement report – there are a slew of true-crime series including American Murder: Laci Peterson, Worst Ex Ever, Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey and This Is the Zodiac Speaking entering its top ten with The Menendez Brothers doc leading the list.

The Menendez Brothers, the Alejandro Hartmann-directed doc, premiered after Ryan Murphy’s buzzy Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story series and scored 39.2M views.

American Murder: Laci Peterson topped the series list with 37.4M views. That series, which told the story of the murder of the American woman murdered by her husband while she was eight months pregnant. It is part of Netflix’s American Murder strand, which was just responsible for the Gabby Petito three-series that launched this month.

The Netflix documentary, Biggest Heist Ever, shined a light on the wild and outrageous crimes of Ilya and Heather, a modern day Bonnie and Clyde, with spectacular and unbelievable reveals throughout. Nielsen’s streaming content ratings show the week of July 1-7 as the biggest one ever since the measurement firm began regularly tracking streaming several years ago. TV users spent 313 billion minutes on streaming platforms for the week, and for the first time, every entrant in the top 10 overall titles had at least 1 billion minutes of viewing.

The previous biggest week came just seven days earlier, when seven of the overall top 10 crossed the billion-minute mark. Nielsen also says July 7 was the fourth-largest streaming day it has ever tracked, behind Jan. 13 — when Peacock had an exclusive NFL playoff game — and Feb. 17-18, which was both the Presidents Day holiday and had a cold snap keeping much of the country indoors.

Eddie Murphy’s latest film spent another week atop the streamer’s Top 10 English-language films with 22.2M views, also making it the most-watched title of the week again. That puts it nearly halfway to a spot on the most popular list, which would require it to beat Glass Onion‘s 136M views to do so.

Second among English-language films was A Family Affair, which continued to serve up laughs with 11.6M views — a far cry from the No. 3 spot, which was Paw Patrol: The Movie with 4.7M views.

On the TV side, things have been looking a bit light since Bridgerton is losing steam as more of its audience finishes the third season. Still, its 2.7M views last week was good enough to boost it to sixth place on the most popular list.
