Lockdown, not to be confused with the Kevin Nash film Lockdown and so many others, has finally been released. Why do I say finally? Because production wrapped on it back in 2017. When a film that has marketable names in the cast sits on the shelf that long it’s usually a sign that it’s really awful or so artsy nobody knows what to do with it. And this ain’t no art film.
In a Los Angeles precinct Captain Davis is interrogating Cherry a hooker turned armed robber. Elsewhere one of the cops makes the mistake of trying to pick up some cash he sees on the floor only to end up dead and relieved of his cell keys, gun,...

Word of mouth is how many movies and shows gain so much traction in such a socially-charged world, and no one knows that better than acclaimed author Stephen King, who regularly tweets out recommendations for his many Twitter followers. In recent months, he’s enticed fans to check out such releases as prison breakout series Escape at Dannemora, weird Lifetime movie Deranged Granny, and Russian show To the Lake. Earlier this year, he even shared 11 Netflix recommendations to help you survive quarantine, and they’re all still perfectly relevant now.
His newest obsession, meanwhile, makes a lot of sense because it’s partially based on a short story he wrote. Shudder’s A Creepshow Animated Special, which has already gained a lot of attention from horror fans, features two brief animated tales meant to give you a spook, and it seems that King’s a fan of it.
I loved that animated Creepshow.

The 37 years between the release of Creepshow in 1982 and the debut of Shudder’s Creepshow TV series weren’t exactly kind to the franchise. 1987’s Creepshow 2 just couldn’t quite replicate the magic of its predecessor (despite its best intentions) and 2006’s Creepshow 3 was bad enough to raise the question: “What was it that made the original Creepshow so special?” What was that magical quality the 1982 classic found that’s proven to be so difficult to replicate? When you get down to it, what even defines a Creepshow story?
“Well, they have to be fun,” says Greg Nicotero, special effects legend, co-executive producer of The Walking Dead, and showrunner of Shudder’s Creepshow series. “My criteria is, when the episode is over, I want the viewer to be like, ‘Oh my God, that was so much fun. I didn’t expect that. I didn’t see it coming, but I had a great time.

Shudder’s Creepshow arguably does a lot with limited resources, and is currently in the planning stages of a second season. However, before that, fans of the anthology series are getting a Halloween treat this October via a new animated special based on stories by Stephen King and Joe Hill, and there’ll be some familiar voices behind the production.
More specifically, the episode will adapt King’s classic short story “Survivor Type,” with Kiefer Sutherland voicing a surgeon trapped on a desert island with no food and a supply of smuggled heroin. As hunger sets in, the character begins to amputate parts of his own body to stay alive. Given its grisly subject matter, we’re looking forward to seeing how “Survivor Type” will work as an animation. Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead) is directing this one.

Ugly Christmas sweaters have really become a holiday cliche over the past decade, and parties devoted to the vomitous yuletide tops are nearly unavoidable. So of course this conceit has been turned into a horror movie. Today, we have the exclusive first look trailer for Ugly Sweater Party, and if you enjoy a little bit of blood and guts with your eggnog, then this will put a huge giant smile on your face.
In Ugly Sweater Party, the most hideous of all knitted pullovers has become possessed. And it's deterred to turn one December shindig into a bright red bloodbath. The ugly holiday sweater takes hold of one partygoer, causing him to go on a deranged slaughter fest. And it's a gruesome sight to behold.
Perhaps the coolest thing about the movie is that Sleepaway Camp star and cult favorite Felissa Rose is back and wearing her own godawful sweater for the holidays.

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Bloody Bill Productions. Director: Billy 'Bloody Bill' Pon. Writers: Lee Ankrum and Billy 'Bloody Bill' Pon. Cast: Bill Oberst Jr., Parrish Randall, Chanel Ryan and Roger Edwards. Circus of the Dead is an indie horror film from first time feature director Billy Pon. Pon utilizes some great make-up effects and interior shooting, in his debut. However, the film's story falters as it deals uncompellingly with morality. Evil greatly overpowers good, thanks to actor Bill Oberst Jr.'s performance as the murderous Papa Corn and the script. Other characters fall by the wayside, with Papa Corn dicing his way through the cast. Conflict is minimized by the inability of other characters to subdue this murderous beast. And, Circus of the Dead suffers from a lack of strong antagonism between characters. The story begins with the circus coming to town. Usually,...

Several stills have been released for director "Bloody Bill" Pon's Circus of the Dead. The film deals with a dangerous carnival and the characters trapped there. Also, Parrish Randall (Gut Instincts), Chanel Ryan (Bad Kids Go To Hell), Roger Edwards (Stop-Loss) and Brad Potts star in this terrifying horror film, which is nearing completion. The film's story is still, mostly, being kept in mystery. However, characters in the film are tasked with questions of morality and their answers may or may not allow them to survive.
