Star Wars: The Bad Batch has introduced many new characters to the Star Wars galaxy, though some are better than others. Key allies such as Phee Genoa and Captain Howzer have become very influential in Clone Force 99's story. As proven by a slew of new shows in development, series creators from Finland keep on experimenting.
“People are exploring some bold, risky topics. Ones that make you go: ‘Wow, they are really making a show about that?’,” says Laura Kuulasmaa, executive director from the producers’ association Apfi.
Aamu Film Company’s “Monster,” about a teenage Nicke, realizing he is in love with his girlfriend’s 11-year-old sister, is bound to ignite discussions.
“I wanted to do this show because I believe that raising awareness of minor-attracted persons can save children from abuse,” creator Eva-Maria Koskinen tells Variety.
“It’s not about blurring any borders: Sexual contact between an adult and a child is wrong and also criminal. But research shows that when a minor-attracted person can’t talk about their sexuality, the pressure builds up. Wouldn’t we want people like Nicke to seek help, if it keeps them from the wrong path?...

With its list of new releases for March 2023, Disney+ is premiering another season of arguably its most successful and recognizable series. That’s right: it’s time for more of The Mandalorian. Ever heard of it??!??!?
The Mandalorian season 3 premieres Wednesday, March 1 on Disney+ with “Chapter 17” and will continue to air new episodes weekly. A lot has changed since The Mandalorian signed off in its mind-bending season 2 finale on Dec. 18, 2020. Star Pedro Pascal has continued his destiny as a lone wolf guiding a young cub with The Last of Us. Cara Dune actress Gina Carano did some stuff. And most importantly: The Book of Boba Fett served as a sort of Mandalorian season 2.5. So when you see Grogu a.k.a. Baby Yoda back in season 3 despite jetting off in the season 2 finale, rest assured that that it all makes canonical sense.

Always a frontrunner at Co-Pro Series, the Berlinale Series Market’s annual project pitching event, “Tipping Point” walked off Tuesday morning with the Series Mania Award.
The prize is an invitation to the production’s team to present again at the industry centrepiece at next month’s Lille-based get-together, the Series Mania Forum’s Co-Pro Pitching Sessions. “Tipping Point” joins 15 other projects as a sixteenth project presented out of competition in partnership with the Berlinale Co-Production Market.
Set in the extraordinary Svalbard – an archipelago half way between the northern coast of Norway and the North Pole, it turns on a feisty young eco-activist at constant odds with her father, an oil exec, until he is murdered. Teaming with some of his friends to investigate his death, she discovers another man from the one she knew, as she chases a stolen software which could solve climate crisis or destroy the world.

Crime shows look for a new angle, argued Berlinale Series participants on Monday.
There is no shortage of new offerings, from Berlinale Market Selects’ “Two Sides of the Abyss,” Serbia’s “The Fall” or South Africa’s “Donkerbos,” created by Nico Scheepers, to China’s melancholic, decades-spanning “Why Try to Change Me Now,” with Golden Bear winner Yinan Diao attached as executive producer.
But while there is still an appetite for traditional detective stories, producers and broadcasters are venturing out of the “damaged, middle-aged white detective slot on a Sunday night,” suggested All3Media International’s Rachel Glaister. They are also thinking about their younger audience.
“[‘The Gymnasts’] wasn’t born as a pure crime show. We were also attracted by other themes, including coming-of-age,” said Carlotta Claori of Indigo Film when discussing the series about a tournament in the Italian Alps, gone horribly wrong.

Berlinale Series, established in 2015, keeps offering new shows proper cinema treatment. But it’s not just about that “dark room and the level of concentration you hardly get when you sit on a sofa,” explains head of the event Julia Fidel, noting a surge in stories with a “reasonable” budget.
“We want to screen very different episodic narrative styles from any country in the world. There is this expectation of showcasing ‘blockbuster’ series, which we also include, but the real benefit of [having] a series section at a major festival are the discoveries.”
Such as Market Selects’ Israeli offering “Traitor.” “If the story is outstanding and the characters relatable, the language doesn’t matter,” state showrunners Ron Leshem and Amit Cohen.
“Good shows have to be meaningful,” states Cristina Iliescu, creator- director of Co-Pro Series title “Export Only,” the first foray into series by “Bad Luck Banging” producer Ada Solomon.

It’s all a game. On Thursday, Tears for Fears released the music video for their single “Break the Man” — and it follows identical, black suit-sporting men as they go about their lives mindlessly walking through a labyrinth.
“No more wondering what happens now/No more holding your feet to the fire/When everything is running down/No more pain,” the duo sings on the track as the video becomes a kaleidoscope of dystopia.
By the end of the video, each man reaches the top of a ledge and jumps off to their seeming demise.

Netflix is teaming up with Indian outfit Tipping Point, the digital content arm of studio Viacom18, to produce three original series in the territory.
The shows are: Jamtara – Sabka Number Aayega, which explores the conflicts that emerge when a small town is identified as India’s phishing capital; She, a gritty story of an undercover cop’s journey discovering her sexuality and breaking stereotypes while taking down a drug cartel; and Taj Mahal 1989, a nostalgic exploration of love and longing.
Netflix is keeping details of talent involved under its hat for now, but the announcement follows a pledge earlier this month from Netflix chief Reed Hastings to invest more than $400m in content in India across 2019 and 2020.
The streamer’s work in the territory to date includes animated series Mighty Little Bheem, the company’s first animated show from the region, which it says has been watched by some 27 million households worldwide.

Susanna Reid has reportedly been offered a big money deal to join ITV.
The BBC Breakfast presenter is thought to have been offered £1 million to join the rival channel.
Reid, who is thought to earn £250,000 a year at the BBC, has been working for the channel for the last decade.
ITV bosses allegedly want Reid to host their new breakfast show in the summer, according to The Mirror.
The show, thought to be called Good Morning Britain, will replace Daybreak, which has recently seen ratings drop.
Tipping Point host Ben Shephard has been tipped to co-host the show.
Reid recently denied rumours that she would leave the BBC following her success on Strictly Come Dancing.
She said: "If you cut me open I would bleed BBC.
"I said when BBC Breakfast moved to Salford that the BBC runs through me like a stick of rock - and nothing has changed.
