Even as Rick and Morty’s overlords have remained tight-lipped on what’s in store for the series’ upcoming eighth season, there’s one thing we now know for certain: Some unlucky alien is about to have a really, really bad day.
Canadian voice actor and longtime Rick and Morty contributor Eric Bauza opened up about a recent studio session he did for the next season of the Adult Swim staple, revealing he wasn’t only tasked with “the most swearing I’ve ever done in my life,” but he had to do so in front of his school-aged son.
“We had this crazy, crazy turn of events called the L.A. wildfires, and my son’s school was closed for several days,” Bauza, who has voiced numerous Rick and Morty characters including Glen the Gromflomite and Shane the facehugger, recalled during a recent sitdown with uInterview. “The one day...

In a sit-down conversation with uInterview, voice actor Eric Bauza looked back on his favorite moments working on Rick and Morty. Bauza has appeared in multiple episodes of the Adult Swim animation series, starting with a small role in the pilot episode, which was released in 2013. “Ok so, I was in the pilot for Rick And Morty,” he told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “The very, very first episode. And I was the big bug, one of the xenomorph bugs that’s at, he’s like the customs agent, and he goes, ‘Uh, alright you two, come over here,’ – and of course he’s talking about Rick and Morty – he’s like, ‘We want to put you through the new machine.’ And [Rick’s] like, ‘Uh what new machine,’ and he’s like, ‘Uh the new machine that detects stuff all the way up your butt.’ So lines like that crack me up.

Some things just make sense once you experience them together: peanut butter and jelly, french fries dipped in chocolate milkshakes, and now Daniel Radcliffe and Tracy Morgan. The Harry Potter star has officially signed on to co-lead Morgan's forthcoming comedy pilot for NBC, an as-yet-untitled project from 30 Rock creators Robert Carlock and Tina Fey. Given Radcliffe's penchant for off-kilter comedic roles and generally gamely acting style, we're excited to see the pair team up on-screen, and learn more about the forthcoming series.
Announced earlier this month, the series is officially touted as the story of "a disgraced former football player (Morgan) is on a mission to rehabilitate his image." But thanks to the reveal of Radcliffe's role, we're finally learning a little bit more about the series' set-up and machinations. Radcliffe will star as Arthur Tobin, "an award-winning filmmaker who moves into Reggie's mansion to film an immersive documentary...

Book your reservations early for Haunted Hotel, especially if you prefer accommodations with plenty of character and charm.
Netflix has greenlit the adult animated comedy series created by Matt Roller about a single mother of two who struggles to run the Undervale, a hotel that happens to be haunted. Luckily, she has some help from her estranged brother … who is now one of the ghosts and thinks his fellow phantoms have some pretty good ideas.
Roller sold the series to Netflix in a highly competitive auction and landed a straight-to-series order. He recently served as a co-executive producer on Dan Harmon’s Krapopolis, Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s Mr. Mayor, and two seasons of The Goldbergs. Previously, he wrote for Speechless, Community, Son of Zorn, Rick and Morty, and FX’s Archer.

Since its conclusion in December of 2024, I have found myself thinking about Star Trek: Lower Decks and then remembering, Oh, wait…It’s over now. I still can’t quite believe it. After all, despite being an animated sitcom, it was consistently truer to the look and feel of the Tng/DS9/Voyager era of Star Trek than any of the live-action productions of the past 8 years.
Unfortunately, Lower Decks is over. While that means we may never get more of our Lower Deckers in the same form again, it also means we can now look back upon the series as a whole. With that—and a few months’ distance from the series finale—I’m finally ready to try ranking the seasons of Lower Decks, starting from the worst (or at least the one I consider the weakest).

When you look at Michael Cusack’s work, “order” is not the first word that comes to mind. Both “Yolo,” which premiered its third season on Sunday, and “Smiling Friends” exist in worlds where anything can and does happen. Night clubs open in the beds of oversized interstellar trucks, and outdated video game mascots can become depressed clients. But when it comes to his aggressively random and vulgar worlds, Cusack has a surprisingly strict understanding of what is and is not allowed.
“You do this for as many years as I’ve been making ‘Yolo,’ and they become almost like daughters, in a way. You become very protective over them,” Cusack told TheWrap about Sarah (Sarah Bishop) and Rachel (Todor Manojlovic), the stars of “Yolo: Rainbow Trinity.”
“Yolo” has always been a show about two hard-drinking young women jumping from weird to weirder party. But even that conceit comes with rules.

Warner Bros. Discovery announced this week that one of Adult Swim's riskiest anime projects to date is about to land on Blu-ray and DVD for the first time.
Rick and Morty: The Anime will have its first home media release on April 29, 2025, according to Anime News Network, giving physical media access to one of Adult Swim's most ambitious yet divisive adaptations. The anime series premiered on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block and streaming service Max last August, starting with its English dub, followed by the English-subtitled Japanese version shortly after airing on the network's Toonami block. However, the show's fan reception was incredibly mixed, with a current critics' score of 50% and an audience score of just 17%.

The McManus Brothers’ Redux Redux tinkers with narrative fire. Time loops and parallel universes have bested countless indie filmmakers. For every Blood Punch, +1, or Dead End, there are double the negative examples—a fate that Redux Redux avoids. Kevin and Matthew chase their salty and suspenseful festival darling, The Block Island Sound, with a science fiction revenge thriller that throttles tension into fifth gear. It’s thoughtfully conceptualized on a modest budget, depicts temporal jumps without visual hokiness, and delivers a gutsy morality tale that drips with blood-soaked intrigue.
The duo’s sister Michaela McManus stars as Irene Kelly, a grieving mother with fantastical technology that allows her to kill her daughter’s murderer over and over. Irene’s mission is to rid every universe of Jeremy Holm’s predatory serial killer (Neville). She transports from existence to existence without much differentiation—this isn’t a Rick and Morty episode...

Elon Musk has time for cameos, at least when it suits him. The Tesla CEO and X enthusiast (now a chain-saw-wielding Doge employee) has cultivated a pop culture presence quite fitting of his relentless quest for influence, especially over our eyeballs and immediate senses. There is no telling what the man will do next.

Fans will finally be able to add Rick and Morty: The Animeto their collection. Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has announced that the series will be launched on both Blu-ray and DVD on April 29. The entire ten episodes of the title created by Takashi Sano will be included in the package. Rick and Morty: The Anime premiered on both Adult Swim and on Max (in international territories) at the end of last summer. The story was an alternative to the original Rick and Morty, taking into account how that series didn't launch a season last year.

The Simpsonsis among the most influential television shows of all time, as it completely redefined what comedy could look like, particularly within the realm of animation. Although The Simpsons was certainly aimed at lampooning the formulaic nature of “nuclear family” sitcoms that had been popular in the previous decades, it also developed its own style of animation that spawned many imitators. Without The Simpsons, there would be no Family Guy, South Park, Rick and Morty, BoJack Horseman, Bob’s Burgers, or American Dad.

There are a few places where it feels like whatever you're watching is being broadcast directly from an alternate universe — roadside motel televisions, public access channels from towns you've never been to, and Adult Swim after midnight. It's a feeling that anyone who has fallen asleep in the middle of watching "Robot Chicken" only to be startled awake and greeted by the hypnotic surrealism of a show like "Infomercials" knows intimately: where what stares back at you from the TV screen is so bizarre and phantasmagorical that you can't help but answer its call like a sailor drawn to a rock by a siren.
The average viewer likely thinks of Adult Swim as the network behind "Rick and Morty," syndicated reruns of their favorite adult animated series, and culture-shaping oddities like "Space Ghost Coast to Coast," but the real freaks and sickos know that Adult Swim is also the home...

Mappa’s upcoming original anime, Lazarus, has become one of the most anticipated spring 2025 anime. The biggest reason behind its popularity might be the involvement of Shinichiro Watanabe, who is directing and co-writing the series. Known for directing Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, and other cult classics, Watanabe is a force to be reckoned with.
The cast and staff behind Lazarus are all big names in the industry. Needless to say, fans are excited about the upcoming anime. However, it might be best to approach the series with caution.

Rick and Morty Season 8 will break a disappointing streak when its 2025 release finally comes to pass.
The last time fans heard from the hit Adult Swim series was in December 2023, with the release of its seventh season—which received generally favorable reviews but did not quite hit the heights of some of its past seasons.
Season 7 marked the first new episodes of the series without creator Justin Roiland, who was fired from the show thanks to some legal troubles that came to light during development.

Presented by Neon’s The Monkey, Bloody Disgusting is celebrating this Friday’s release of Osgood Perkins’ highly anticipated horror with Stephen King Week. Yesterday, Jenn Adams talked King’s creepy critters, and today, Luiz H. C. catalogues his cursed objects.
There’s a classic Family Guy cut-away gag where author Stephen King pitches his 307th horror book to an editor, with the writer coming up with an absurd story about a killer lamp on the spot after looking at the objects on the editor’s desk. While this joke was clearly meant to be a jab at the author’s prolific output, I think most fans would agree that, if the King of Horror ever chose to write a book about a lamp monster, it’d be one hell of a scary lamp!
After all, King’s nearly-six-decade-long career has gifted us with countless examples of seemingly inanimate items that harbor supernatural secrets.

Some of the best written TV shows are anime series. Adult animations are often underrated because of the animated aspect, but they're more often than not incredible heavy hitters. Japanese anime writers especially have the ability to reach a certain core with their intricate dialogue and strong characters. And yes, there are silly anime series that often feel absurd, but they can carry strong messages in their core. Similarly to Western shows like The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and Rick and Morty, for example, anime can be a social critique, a character study, and satire just as much as the next live-action show.

Rick and Morty is easily one of the most iconic adult animated TV shows of the 2010s. Its bizarre, off-beat humor and universe-hopping storylines will have a massive influence on other animated comedies still felt today. After all, no other series at the height of its popularity would convince dozens of people to flock to McDonald's to track down a limited-time condiment sauce. So, when an anime spin-off was announced in May 2022, fans were intrigued by what it could do to set itself apart from the original.
Unfortunately, the anime failed to meet many fans' expectations upon its release. There's still a decent attempt to do a different take on the series' art style and humor. These attempts fell flat for several reasons. A combination of unfunny jokes, lack of a coherent plot, and horrible pacing makes Rick and Morty: The Anime feel like all its potential was wasted...

Everyone knows the sound of Kathleen Turner’s voice.
Her sexy, smoky rasp most famously gave life to Jessica Rabbit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and although that was her first animated role, it definitely wouldn’t be her last. A few years later, she voiced Malibu Stacy creator Stacy Lovell on The Simpsons. A few years after that, she became the voice of Hank Hill’s boss’ wife, Liz Strickland, on King of the Hill, who famously tried to seduce Hank. And her voice career continues today with a recent guest spot on Rick and Morty and with the upcoming animated film Animal Farm, based on the famous George Orwell novel.
It was her time on King of the Hill that we set out to talk about during a recent phone interview, but that inevitably led to a discussion about her voice career as a whole and how that...

In an era when there is more media than ever before, new arbiters have sprung up to guide our increasingly disoriented collective taste. Though it throws up confounding developments such as claiming that Sean Connery's only "perfect" movie is "Darby O'Gill and the Little People," Rotten Tomatoes has emerged as one such guide through the dim and bloated media landscape wrought by the rise of the internet and streaming platforms. Likewise, IMDb, with its devoted user base eager to register their takes on movies and TV shows, has provided another way to decipher modern media.
The site that put "The Shawshank Redemption" at the top of its best movies of all time, IMDb is arguably not the best source of guidance, but at least it brings a certain sense of order to things. We now have the site's 250 best TV shows of all time, for example, which provides a...

Last May, Warner Bros. and Player First Games’ launched the video game MultiVersus, a free-to-play platform fighter game that was made available as “a free download for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), with full cross-play and cross-progression support.” Unfortunately, it turns out that the game only had one year of life in it, as Warner Bros. Games has now announced that online service for MultiVersus will be coming to an end on May 30th.
Warner Bros. Games wrote, “We have an important update to share regarding MultiVersus. After careful consideration, our next Season will serve as the final seasonal content update for the game. John Wick is the cinematic action hero of the 2020s. His Hollywood status has reached the levels of McClanefrom Die Hard, Riggs from Lethal Weapon, and the T-800 from The Terminator franchise. John Wick is a legendary hitman, who gives up his violent career in favor of a quiet, ordinary life. In the years since his retirement, he becomes the bogeyman of the criminal underworld, a horror story that bad guys like to tell each other around the campfire. But in the first film, 2014's John Wick, the hitman is thrust out of retirement after his dog is unjustly murdered. He then leads a bloody, vengeful one-made crusade against the Russian gangsters who wronged him.

Elongated noses, like wrinkly pickles or deflated balloons, protrude from the faces of the comically offbeat characters in the zany, rambling and historically relevant animated documentary “Endless Cookie” from animator Seth Scriver, a white man, and his half-brother Peter, who is an Indigenous person from the Shamattawa First Nations in northern Canada. Pete’s memories, which illustrate the intricacies of Indigenous life in Canada, are the foundation of this personal family scrapbook of a film.
As Pete recalls events that happened to him, to people around him or to relatives, the intimate reminiscences meet the macro, touching on the impact of residential schools, land claims by greedy companies and the disproportionate incarceration of First Nations individuals. On occasion, he speaks a few words or phrases in the Cree language and addresses the spirituality of his people.

“What if there were a medicine that could heal almost anything? What if they didn’t want you to know about it?” So goes every health grift, preached by everyone from snake oil salesmen to chumbox clickbait to, probably, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in the not-too-distant future.
But no, really: What if?
This is the premise of Adult Swim’s Common Side Effects. And if the ingredient at its center sits squarely and obviously within the realm of science fiction, the all too plausible consequences that ripple out from its discovery are what make the animated thriller feel furiously relevant, dryly hilarious and strangely haunting.
The panacea in question is the “blue angel,” a rare Peruvian mushroom with the nigh-supernatural ability to cure anything from dementia to gunshot wounds to, possibly, death itself. It’s the groundbreaking find of Marshall Cuso (Dave King), a genius with the bare chest,...

The Orville is one of the best pieces of science fiction going today. Whether or not it gets a fourth season, the show's legacy has been cemented. It's funny, it's poignant and it's not afraid to do what Star Trek used to do quite a bit, and tackle serious questions. Topics like gender-affirming care, social media's toxic influence, addiction, and so many other conversations have all been had in this show. A show that is quite honestly a parody, and love-letter to the world of Star Trek.
It's actually one of the biggest compliments that the show routinely gets from Star Trek fans; it feels like a Star Trek show. That's not by accident, they've intentionally brought on numerous figures both behind the scenes and in front of the camera to come in and help with the franchise. The dimension-hopping adventures that the titular Rick and Morty undertake are filled with characters who are either eerily normal or downright ludicrous. Given that many of them are Rick's acquaintances, mortal enemies — or in some cases, both — they tend to be as powerful as he is, if not more. Despite being the smartest man in the universe and the remarkable power inherent in that position, Rick has struggled against his fair share of foes.
Some of these powerful Rick and Morty characters manifest their strength through their physical forms; some are blessed with cosmic superpowers, and a few actually possess nigh-divine abilities. Ironically, Rick himself isn't the strongest character in a story that (he believes) revolves around him, which has been demonstrated through the fact that he has been soundly defeated on many occasions.

Five years after the Nickelodeon series ended, Jace Norman returned for a Henry Danger film that has topped the Paramount+ charts, leading many to wonder if a sequel could ever happen.
In 2014, Henry Danger officially began its run on Nickelodeon, introducing viewers to Henry, the main character named Kid Danger who becomes the sidekick to Captain Man and eventually grows into a superhero of his own.
The recently released film capitalized on a popular plot device used in many projects within the genre - alternate realities, aka the Multiverse (even the Rick & Morty franchise is dabbling in the Multiverse). In the movie, Kid Danger gets trapped in other realities and has to find his way back to Dystopia.

Dungeons & Dragons’ Fifth Edition (5e) had several great campaigns, but one is so enduringly popular that it deserves a re-release with the game’s new 2024 ruleset. 5e had over 20 campaign books, and that’s not including tie-ins from properties like Stranger Things, Critical Role, and Rick and Morty. These books were a mixture of fully structured campaigns that led players through a complete narrative like Tomb of Annihilation, and collections of updated classic adventures like Quests from the Infinite Staircase that DMs can run as one shots or build into their own campaigns.
It’s hard to say that there is an objective “best” campaign book from 5e, because Dungeons & Dragons campaigns vary wildly depending on the Dm, the playgroup, and what everyone wants out of an adventure. Players who want more of a dungeon-crawling experience may gravitate toward something like Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage, while those...

Although Rick and Morty season 8 promises more focus on Morty, the cartoon comedy needs to fix one recurring issue that season 7 ran into before making this switch. Rick and Morty’s season 7 ending was the show’s highest-rated episode in years on IMDb, and it is not hard to see why. Season 7, episode 10, “Fear No Mort,” was a clever, moving, funny adventure that fleshed out Morty’s internal world while also combining elements of The Twilight Zone and The Hole in an unpredictable sci-fi storyline. Although the show usually centers on Rick, “Fear No Mort” excelled by spotlighting Morty.

I will admit that Star Trek: Lower Decks seemed like a wild idea when it was announced, but despite my initial apprehension, I'm so happy to have been quickly proven wrong about a Star Trek comedy show being a bad idea. Of all the Star Trek TV shows, it stands out for its fearless approach to adding to the franchise's dense canon while constantly tapping on the fourth wall. I can comfortably understand why some Trekkies may not enjoy Star Trek: Lower Decks, but I am definitely not on their side and haven't been for a long time.
The epic Star Trek timeline has been enhanced further by modern efforts. While viewers might miss the early years of Rick and Morty, season 8 will not bring back the show’s earlier style in its upcoming episodes. Rick and Morty has changed a lot since the anarchic Adult Swim series originally debuted in 2013. In its first season, Rick and Morty was a tasteless, ribald parody of family sitcoms and sci-fi movies that blended some surprisingly smart jokes with gratuitous gore and goofy absurdity to great effect. However, as early as Rick and Morty’s season 2 premiere, the show had started to display some heart underneath all its silliness.

Although Rick and Morty’s season 7 finale featured a killer twist, this was not the first time that the cult hit pulled off this exact revelation. Since its inception, Rick and Morty has been committed to deconstructing the tropes and conventions of family sitcoms and sci-fi TV shows alike. Adult Swim’s anarchic animated comedy sees its titular antiheroes run into all manner of genre clichés on a weekly basis, and Rick and Morty season 8 promises to keep this streak alive. The earliest teaser for Rick and Morty season 8 parodies movies like Alien, Pandorum, and Passengers in its short runtime.

What's the best superhero TV show? Satirical gorefest "The Boys" has been a smash hit, and in 2024, Marvel Studios released one of its best projects ever with "X-Men '97." But for a lot of other geeks, the answer to this question is still one of the classics.
For as much stock as you can put in IMDb, the site's list of highest user-rated TV shows puts "Batman: The Animated Series" in 24th place. With a rating of 9/10, it's the highest ranking superhero program on the list. Rick and Morty has become a cultural touchstone. Since the show premiered in 2013, it has been a huge part of the animation space and a ratings juggernaut for Adult Swim. Rick and Morty follows a teenager named Morty and an elderly mad scientist named Rick in a series of science fiction adventures. Drawing heavily from Back to the Future, Futurama, and The Simpsons, it's no wonder Rick and Morty has been a smash hit and continues to garner new fans, even despite controversy regarding its creator.

A common misconception among more casual "Family Guy" fans is that creator Seth MacFarlane is personally responsible for every single creative decision. Although he voices many of the characters, his presence in the writers' room is a lot lighter than one would think. He's mentioned in interviews that he hasn't written for "Family Guy" since around 2009, and even before that, he only officially wrote the scripts for three episodes. That's right: only three episodes in the show's entire 400+ episode run were penned by MacFarlane.
Of course, as any writer for a long-running sitcom will tell you, the writing for these shows is very collaborative. There'll often be one writer who receives credit for the episode, but the script will typically go through multiple revisions from the rest of the staff. I know from interviews with staff writers from "Rick and Morty" and "Futurama" that it's often hard for the staff...

Although Rick and Morty has evolved a lot over the years, it has maintained its quirky yet charming personality alongside its meta humor, but the series betrayed its most important episode's message in season 7. Still, despite some fans claiming the show isn't what it once was, the animated hit remains one of the most talked about projects on TV and has an eighth season in the works, proving it's still popular over a decade after its debut.

An animated Greek mythology sitcom from the creator of Rick and Morty is coming to Netflix next month. Rick and Morty season 8 is slated to debut in 2025, though co-creator Dan Harmon has also been busy with several other high-profile projects. The long-awaited Community movie is active, with series star Ken Jeong recently revealing his emotional reaction to the script.
Rick and Morty itself is continuing to go strong, as the animated sci-fi comedy has been renewed all the way through to season 12. This means that the two-time Emmy-winning hit will be on air through at least 2029. At the same time, another one of Harmon's shows, which only premiered last year, may soon get a boost as it's coming to Netflix.

Usually, when ‘Marvel Comics’ and ‘Rick and Morty’ find themselves being referenced in the same sentence, it’s because Rick and Morty has done a parody of Marvel in some form or fashion, or Marvel has introduced characters reminiscent of those in Rick and Morty. What’s decidedly out of the norm is the idea that Marvel Comics is somehow even weirder than Rick and Morty, even in a case where two nearly identical events occur in both established universes. But, if one bizarre theory is correct, that unusual circumstance would become a simple fact.

Animation has been around since 1907, with animated sitcoms gaining popularity during the 1960s thanks to shows such as The Flinstones and The Jetsons. "One Piece" is one of the longest-running anime series of all time, a truly legendary show worthy of its reputation. Based on the manga of the same name by Eiichiro Oda, "One Piece" is still going strong after 25 years, becoming a cultural institution. And after all that time, the show is better than ever.
