- TriviaAt 48:00 Bianca is carrying what appears to be a variation of a Stargate SG1 "Carter Special", i.e. a stubby barrel variant of an M4 carbine with a slim forward grip just behind the muzzle with a cylindrical heat shield around the barrel. A very compact weapon for close in tactical combat. In the Stargate franchise this appeared during the 2nd Gulf war when the blank ammunition used for the show's FN P90s was in short supply and a substitute weapon was made from a modified M4 using plentiful 5.56x45 blank rounds.
- GoofsFurther to the earlier comment, understood "Emma" not "Mum" but it was said rather quickly with the emphasis on the second syllable.
- Quotes
Zina Jansone: My clients need to know if you think it's possible, speaking as a professional.
The Jackal: Well, uh, you do seem to think he's God, but that doesn't mean he's immortal.
Zina Jansone: We're still some way apart on the fee. Perhaps we can meet in the middle. We're not terrorists, you know. We're patriots. We're defending our way of life.
The Jackal: I have fuck-all interest in why you want him dead.
Zina Jansone: 100 million is a big ask.
The Jackal: You're paying me to kill him. I am charging you for getting away. And speaking as a professional, getting away is an important consideration. It's half in advance, half on delivery.
Zina Jansone: No. Half up front won't fly, but I am authorized to pay you a commencement fee of $20 million. I could do that today. Would that be acceptable?
The Jackal: [considering it] Yeah.
Zina Jansone: The job has to be completed by the 28th.
The Jackal: I'm not in the habit of being hurried.
Zina Jansone: UDC releases River on the 28th. It's non-negotiable. Can you do it?
The Jackal: Well, once the payment is in my bank account, I will get to work.
Zina Jansone: Why are you still in Munich? It's been nearly a week since you killed Manfred Fest. Have you loose ends to tie up? We don't want you doing anything that attracts attention or puts you in jeopardy that's not in service of the job.
The Jackal: There are no loose ends.
Zina Jansone: Good. Then we have a deal.
The Jackal: We have a deal.
Then Fred Zinnemann film was excellent too, with great cast and being the french detective a great match for the hitman in terms of attention to detail, patience and determination. Also the tricks the killer uses or how he disguises to get to the target, particularly at the end as a veteran are memorable.
After this came the terrible Hollywood one with Bruce Willis, truly awful, almost comical, so we were expecting something better didn't we? And yes we have the amazing performance of the main actor here.
Ok then, this is half and half, and let me explain. I don't know if I'm going to watch more episodes and that is because we have Eddie Redmayne as The Jackal who makes a fantastic and credible job with extreme careful approach to every single thing he does, a proper professional hitman and actor for that matter.
Then, whoever did the casting, hired this woman Lashana Lynch who is so bad that makes you cringe. Already in episode one she was moving around the sancta sanctorum of the British Intelligence offices like if those were some sort of school and from then it only get worse with this woman and the script.
The way she handles the thing with the Northern Irish woman is completely nonsensical, not to mention the things with her daughter and the police.
I'm being generous giving this 5 stars and if I was the main actor, I would sue the producer for putting the Lynch woman in the cast. Very bad actress but capable to royally destroy the whole thing all by herself with just a little help from the script writers.
I don't mind woman, man ,black, white, Chinese, Peruvian or even from Mars, but probably they have some policy which says that it has to be someone of every race, or sexual inclination or something even if doesn't have the skills for the job and this is happening everywhere and it is terrible for not only business but the arts in general and everything else. Go and watch the Zinnemann's film and avoid this terrible actress performance.
