Last year, Rwby fans suffered a major blow when Rooster Teeth, the entertainment group responsible for the show's creation, announced that it was closing its doors. However, the company recently announced its official return, indicating hope for the franchise's future.

After nine long months offline, Rooster Teeth's official site has returned to the internet along with an explanatory press release. According to the notice, the company's "remaining assets" have been acquired by Burnie Burns, who co-founded Rooster Teeth in 2003 alongside Geoff Ramsey, Gus Sorola, Joel Heyman and Matt Hullum. Burns and his independent company, Box Canyon Productions, have taken sole ownership of Rooster Teeth, which was previously owned by Warner Bros. Consequently, there is also a chance that Rwby will see a renewal within the next few years.

Almost exactly a year ago, the Austin-based media company–responsible for some of the internet’s earliest and most well-known digital video brands, plus major Western animes like Rwby and gen:lock–announced its closure after 21 years of operation.

“Since inheriting ownership and control of Rooster Teeth from AT&T following its acquisition of TimeWarner, Warner Bros. Discovery continued its investment in our company, content and community,” Rooster Teeth’s former General Manager, Jordan Levin, said at the time. “Now however, it’s with a heavy heart I announce that Rooster Teeth is shutting down due to challenges facing digital media resulting from fundamental shifts in consumer behavior and monetization across platforms, advertising, and patronage.”

The closure laid off 150 staff plus dozens of contractors and freelancers, and put an end to a company that helped shape digital media, especially on YouTube.

Barnes & Noble appears to have inadvertently leaked Viz's license for the popular Kingdom manga, with the first release slated for Dec. 16, 2025. While the listing has since been deleted, the series oddly starts with a 192-page Volume 2; Volume 1 was nowhere to be found. Per MangaAlerts on X (formerly Twitter), these types of unofficial listings often include details that have not yet been finalized. The news comes a few months after Season 2 of the live-action video game adaptation premiered on the streamer in February. Amblin Television, Xbox and 343 Industries are currently shopping Halo in hopes of finding it a new home, Deadline understands.

Anime NYC revealed the exciting news via its official X (formerly Twitter) page. In collaboration with Viz Media and Hot Topic, the prominent anime convention will be holding an "exclusive world premiere" for Ranma 1/2's first episode on Saturday, Aug. 24. Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed its ambitious intention to produce over 10 anime series annually through its existing local Japanese studio.

Per Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery President of Asia-Pacific James Gibbons discussed the expansion. "We have a Japanese anime studio which has been producing five or ten anime series per year, over the last few years. We've approved expansion to take that to more than ten series per year," he said. 2011 saw Wbd anime studio take off, delivering over 80 titles thus far, including high-quality anime, live-action series and movies. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, serialized in a manga magazine starting in 1987, received an animated series adaptation that launched in 2012. The Record of Ragnarök series and the Batman Ninja anime movie are other notable titles.

Chip & Joanna Gaines’ Blind Nil Media and The Roost Podcast Network, a Rooster Teeth and Warner Bros Discovery division, announce their partnership to build a new podcast network, Blind Nil Audio. The Texas-based media companies will launch this new network with two debut programs on October 11, 2023.

Joanna and Chip Gaines are taking Blind Nil Media to the next level by venturing into podcasting. This new podcast network will feature inspiring and empowering content that will inform, entertain, and catalyze new ways of thinking to expand perspectives and bring people together.

For example, Batman's Semblance allows him to predict his opponent's actions in a fight before they happen, which is perfect for the World's Greatest Detective. Meanwhile, Batgirl can learn the history of an item just by touching it, much like a real Oracle. Even Alfred gets his own powers, becoming an even better butler in the process.

My Adventures with Superman is the Man of Steel's first new animated series in decades, and it looks a bit different from what some might expect. Seemingly combining superhero action with the slice of life interactions between Lois Lane and Clark Kent, it's a very different kind of adaptation for the character. That's on top of the animation, which puts it more in line with One-Punch Man than the classic Superman: The Animated Series.

For this reason, many are wondering if the new Superman cartoon is actually an anime. After all, it wouldn't look out of place on streaming services such as Crunchyroll, especially given Superman and Lois' designs. The answer to that question, however, is a bit more complicated than a simple yes or no, even if it leans more toward the latter.

Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga was canceled after two seasons, but those first two seasons packed a lot of story into a short time. Bloom (Abigail Cowen) discovers she’s a fire fairy and attends a boarding school where she makes friends with different fairies who each specialize in different elements. The group of young women bond despite their differences and end up saving their school - twice - as well as the world of magic altogether. There are many other movies and shows like Fate: The Winx Saga that incorporate those same ideas that fans will also enjoy.

Let me start by saying I am not now, nor have I ever been a fan of Rwby, an American anime series that has been chugging along since its debut in 2013. For the last few years, producer Rooster Teeth has managed to partner with DC Comics for crossovers between the warriors, trained and dedicated to protecting the world of Remnant from Grimms, actual monsters.

I suppose it was inevitable that the comics crossovers would eventually find their way to the animated world where Rwby enjoys its fame.
