At first glance, “The Recruit” may look like your standard espionage drama, but beneath its splashy action scenes and quippy one-liners that’s not the case. That’s as true in Season 2 as it was in Season 1.
“The anti-hero is definitely played out at this point, at least until it gets reinvented. I think audiences want to root for something,” showrunner and executive producer Alexi Hawley told TheWrap, noting that Noah Centineo’s Owen Hendricks isn’t a Jason Bourne or James Bond figure.
“He’s not trying to be cool. I’m very lucky with Nathan Fillion on ‘The Rookie’ as well in having two leads who really are not afraid of falling down or being the butt of a joke,” Hawley said of his new CIA hire who’s constantly in over his head. “You root for that guy because you can relate to that guy. January is a noteworthy month for one of our most beloved goofballs, high school hotshots, and rookie lawyers because Noah Centineo is finally returning to the screen. This time around, however, it isn’t as a completely new character in a new project. Centineo will reprise two of his widely loved roles, and they couldn’t be any more different.
While the actor has proven time and again that he has a wide array of acting skills, January will put two widely different projects right next to each other and leave them up for comparison. The rom-com series Xo, Kitty, and the action series The Recruit are two of Netflix’s biggest releases in January.

Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s relationship remains one of the most tumultuous in pop culture. The pair met on New Year’s Eve 1994, with Lee recalling their first encounter in his autobiography The Dirt. He described Anderson as someone who was radiating an irresistible energy, which led to him making a rather strange move—licking her face.

But Berry and Wahlberg aren’t the only familiar faces in the Netflix romp. Here’s a handy guide to “The Union” cast and the characters they play.

Six decades or so ago, television was dominated by "wholesome" American family sitcoms, with shows like "Leave It to Beaver," "The Andy Griffith Show," and "Father Knows Best" serving as not only entertainment but as a model guide for viewers to emulate their own "perfect family." Assimilation was the key to an idyllic existence, but that doesn't make for an exciting TV lineup. Each network had its standard American family show, but in an attempt to motivate viewers not to touch that dial, they started diversifying what a family looked like.
No, that diversity did not come in the form of families of non-white races ("Good Times" wouldn't launch until 1974), but it did come with magical beings like "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Bewitched," or monstrously weird like "The Addams Family" and "The Munsters." Chris Pine was taken by surprise when news hit that Steve Yockey, creator of the Max series “The Flight Attendant,” had signed on to write the script for “Star Trek 4.” Why? “I thought there was already a script,” the actor recently told Business Insider during an interview on his “Poolman” press tour.
Pine’s not wrong, as a potential “Star Trek 4” has gone through multiple iterations in the years since the 2016 release of “Star Trek Beyond.” Pine took on the role of Captain Kirk in J.J. Abrams’ 2009 franchise reboot “Star Trek,” and reprised the character in 2013’s “Star Trek Into Darkness” and 2016’s “Beyond.” Variety exclusively reported in March that Paramount Pictures remained committed to making a fourth “Star Trek” film to be headlined by Pine and his co-stars.

William Shatner recently told Canadian Press that he wouldn’t rule out returning as Captain Kirk in a new “Star Trek” project if the script impressed him. While the actor’s age might pose an issue as Shatner turned 93 years old in March, that’s nothing a bit of de-aging technology couldn’t fix.
“It’s an intriguing idea,” Shatner said about returning as Kirk. “It’s almost impossible. But if was a great role and so well-written and if there were a reason to be there not just to make a cameo appearance, but if there were a genuine reason for the character appearing, I might consider it.”
Shatner suggested that he could play a younger version of the Starship Enterprise captain through de-aging technology, similar to how 80-year-old Harrison Ford turned up as a much younger Indiana Jones (circa the character’s age in “Raiders of the Lost Ark...

Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer and her production banner Lab Brew.
In re-upping the deal, the studio has also picked up Here Comes the Dark, a supernatural thriller spec script by Shane and Carey Van Dyke, the duo who co-wrote the 2022 thriller Don’t Worry Darling. Anderson Beer and Lab Brew will produce.
Paramount’s renewal is a vote of confidence in Anderson Beer, who wrote and made her feature directorial debut with the horror movie Pet Sematary: Bloodline for the studio last year. The Wizard of Oz could be soon getting a new sequel if filmmaker Lindsey Anderson Beer has her way.
Recently, Beer made her directorial debut with the horror prequel Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, a movie she also wrote. Beer also penned the script for Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, and she's attached to a variety of upcoming projects, which includes penning the script for Mattel's American Girl movie to follow the success of Barbie. While Beer is on the rise and keeping busy with high-profile projects, she recently spoke with Dread Central about the script she wrote for a Wizard of Oz sequel that didn't get made, and she's still hoping that the film will eventually see the light of day.

One of Stephen King’s best — and bleakest — tales of horror has a new beginning with “Pet Sematary: Bloodlines.” Directed and co-written by Lindsey Anderson Beer (”Sierra Burgess Is a Loser”), the prequel heads back long before the Creeds came to town and follows Jud Crandall (Jackson White) as a young man in Ludlow, Maine, where ancient evil lurks and a corrupted patch of land holds the power to bring back the dead. But of course sometimes dead is better, and “Bloodlines” tells the story of exactly how Jud learned that hard lesson the first time.
The film also has a starry cast, including David Duchovny, Henry Thomas and the legendary Pam Grier. But despite what you might expect for a King adaptation with that pedigree, “Bloodlines” is a streaming exclusive and isn’t heading to theaters, which means you can watch the new “Pet Sematary” movie at home right now.

Pamela Anderson is a gem. During the Pandora Lab Grown Diamonds event for New York Fashion Week on Sept. 6, the actor and author stepped out with her two sons - 25-year-old Dylan Lee and 27-year-old Brandon Lee - for a joint red carpet appearance. The family appeared to coordinate outfits, with the boys wearing similar white button-down shirts and blue jeans, and Anderson matching in an all white ensemble. As the new (makeup-free) face of Pandora's lab-grown diamonds, this moment marked a major milestone for what Anderson described as her "new chapter" - a deliberate shift away from her former bombshell image. Serving as a reboot to Michael Bay's Transformers movies and a sequel to 2018's Bumblebee, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts brings a fresh spin to the franchise by unfolding in the 90s. Unlike the Michael Bay movies, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts also emphasizes Mirage's characterization and highlights how Optimus Prime struggles to guide the Autobots during his early years of leadership.

Horror fans, get ready for a new trip to the pet cemetery. Paramount+ has revealed the first look at the upcoming prequel to Stephen King’s Pet Sematary, titled Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. The prequel will explore the origins of the cursed burial ground that brings back the dead, but not as they were before.
The first look image shows a brown dog walking on a dirt path in front of a sign that reads “Ludlow”. The dog is presumably one of the pets that will be buried and resurrected in the prequel, and the sign indicates that the story will take place in the same town as the original novel and its adaptations. The image has a vintage feel to it, suggesting that the prequel will be set in an earlier time period than the 2019 film.

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines is directed by Lindsey Beer, who is making her directorial debut.

Jake T. Austin got his start acting on television shows like Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, and most memorably Wizards of Waverly Place where he played Max Russo. Playing lead roles in Go, Diego, Go! and Wizards of Waverly Place concurrently gave Austin a lot to work on and kept him busy. After those shows ended, his next big role was playing Jesus on The Fosters an ABC Family, now Freeform, a television show about a blended family.
This show told the story of Stef, Lena, and their mix of biological and adopted children as they decide to take in Callie, a young, troubled girl hardened by years in foster care. This show is full of up and downs, heartwarming familial moments, and drama. Jake T. Austin’s character, Jesus, was part of a set of twins. The new musical movie Cyrano will sound pretty familiar to anyone who pays attention to pop culture. After all, it's based on one of the most popular plots of the past century or so! But did you know that it's actually based on the life of a real person, too? Here's what to know about how a mildly scandalous French writer became a legendary literary character - and just how much of it is true to history.
Who Was the Real Cyrano?
In real life, Savien de Cyrano de Bergerac was part of a notable French family with roots in the professional class and the nobility in the early 1600s. Unfortunately, little is confirmed about his life and origins, and reliable sources are few and far between; much of the so-called "story" of his life was written after his death and likely embellished. Nevertheless, we know that he was most likely a minor noble,...

Noah Centineo is leaving teen dramas behind ... for now.
The Fosters and To All The Boys franchise star has landed the lead role on an upcoming CIA drama at Netflix.
Deadline first reported the news, which also revealed the actor would have a producing credit on the series.
The eight-episode show comes from Entertainment One, Doug Liman's Hypnotic and creator, and showrunner Alexi Hawley (The Rookie).
The project is currently untitled, and centers on a young lawyer at the CIA (Centineo) who gets entangled in dangerous international power plays when a former agency asset threatens to expose her relationship with the CIA — unless they help clear her name in a serious crime.
It's an interesting hook, and one that should be a big hit with the Netflix audience.
If the streamer has taught us anything, it's that it can keep viewers engaged for every single beat of its roster of drama series.

Another year, another “Groundhog Day” rip-off. Nearly three decades after Bill Murray got stuck in a time loop until he became a better man, the concept has spawned so many iterations that it basically exists as its own genre, mixed and mashed with other tropes to reanimate a familiar routine. Often, the deja vu of watching these movies mimics the predicaments of their characters, even when they’re halfway decent. The latest to take the rom-com approach, “The Map of Tiny Perfect Things,” offers an agreeable kind of breezy, soul-searching variation, but can’t break free of the overwhelming meta impression that we’ve seen this all before.
The movie plays like a hybrid of several recent variations: Like 2017’s drama “Before I Fall,” it’s a slick YA adaptation (sci-fi writer Lev Grossman wrote the screenplay off his short), it has some tonal similarities to the horror-comedy “Happy Death Day,...

There’s a grammar-school-friendly version of the Sondheim musical called “Into the Woods, Jr.,” which erases all of Act Two (except “Children Will Listen”) so you can have the storybook charm without the sex or death. Amazon’s “A Map of Tiny Perfect Things” is essentially “Groundhog Day Jr.,” turning the idea of being stuck on the same day into a YA romance.
“Groundhog Day” was by no means the first story to use the idea of people in a temporal anomaly as a metaphor for being in a rut, but it launched its own sub-genre that includes Sundance hit “Palm Springs,” the Netflix series “Russian Doll,” the horror franchise “Happy Death Day,” and even the made-for-tv holiday film “12 Dates of Christmas.” All that’s left for “The Map of Tiny Perfect Things” to mine is a narrative that places teens in the center of the universe and allows...
