    What was that?

    No spoilers, I promise.

Whenever we watch a horror movie involving vampires, there is a certain suspension of disbelief. We know that vampires are not real, so we put that aside for the sake of being entertained. Fair enough.

The problem with this movie is that, in addition to vampirism, there are many other weird things we also must accept. We have characters that do and say things that make no sense. Why would a young woman driving alone down a dark road at night have a collision with some shirtless guy and date him that same night after he commandeers her car?

My problem is this: When the characters are conversing, what they say has little or no relevance to what is going on. And, what IS really going on? What are they always running from? It's all a mess.

Maybe this was intentional? It might be like a dream sequence or something... I cannot say. Meg Foster is in this movie. But what did she tell us? I don't understand what her point was. I am sorry that she is apparently in such dire need for employment.

    I almost finished this

Nothing even remotely scary here and absolutely the stupidest script I've ever seen put to film. In the hope that something was going to happen, I hung with it until the last half hour and then decided life is too short. Just wish I had the first hour back.

    Not A Bad Vampire Movie

When you watch a movie on Tubi it can be a bit hit or miss,. This is a hit though. It is an interesting take on the vampire story. With some likable characters and a pretty good story, this is not a bad film.

It is also not quite your typical vampire movie. The undead creature is hunting a young man who is desperately trying to escape. He crashes into another car and a young woman is driving ends up helping him.

The movie moves along at a good pace and does not lag. The music and photography are excellent and help set the mood and tone. While it is not a perfect film, Subspecies is much better, this is entertaining enough,

    An Unfulfilled Thirst

As a 50-year-old woman who's seen her fair share of horror flicks over the years, I have to say, this film didn't quite hit the mark for me. I was intrigued by the premise, hoping for a refreshing take on the well-trodden path of vampire lore. However, while the film did attempt to bring some new ideas to the table, it ended up feeling a bit too familiar, almost as if it was trying too hard to be different without fully committing to its unique elements.

The setting in the desolate desert had potential to add an eerie atmosphere to the story, but it often felt underutilised, serving more as a backdrop than an integral part of the narrative. The leads, Joshua and Ariel, had some moments of genuine connection, but their characters weren't developed enough for me to truly care about their fate. It felt like the film was on the cusp of delving deeper into their backgrounds and motivations but ultimately skimmed the surface.

The pacing was another issue for me. At times, the movie seemed to drag, making it hard to stay fully engaged. Then, when the action did pick up, it felt rushed and lacked the buildup necessary to make those moments impactful. I appreciated the effort to keep audiences on their toes with twists and turns, but many of these came off as predictable rather than surprising.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't all bad. There were a few suspenseful scenes that managed to capture my attention, and the cinematography had its moments of brilliance, capturing the stark beauty of the desert landscape. And, of course, the idea that vampires could be lurking in such a setting was an interesting concept. However, the execution just didn't live up to the promise of its premise.

In the end, I'm giving three stars. It's not that it's a bad film; it's just that it doesn't quite stand out. It might be worth a watch if you're a die-hard fan of vampire movies looking for something to pass the time, but don't go in expecting a groundbreaking addition to the genre.

    Has bite to it!

Had the pleasure of watching this film at the start of Frightfest digital on Friday. Not sure what I was expecting but it wasn't that. Very fast paced which paid homage to different horror films. Had a really good storyline and the soundtrack is amazing.
