This show unfortunately is very uneven now that I've finished it. I would say 2/3 of the show is light, heartwarming, sweet which I loved and then there's 1/3 that's just crime, mob stuff, prosecutors and randomly a LOT of interrogation room scenes which I hated lol. That said, the cast was full of great lovable characters from the main leads to the reformed mobsters, I loved it when they got into shenanigans usually related to their job, or their home life. The little community they've built is so cute and they embraced the female lead into their little rat pack very quickly which made me like them even more. I would compare this feeling I'm feeling to when I finished Wedding Impossible or Serendipity's Embrace, I wasn't wowed but I was entertained.
I recently watched "My Sweet Mobster," a fantastic Kdrama blending romance, comedy, and suspense. It beautifully explores themes of friendship, authenticity, second chances, and positivity. Uhm Tae-goo shines as the lead, transforming from an ex-mobster to a man in love with charm and depth. And can we talk about his good looks and husky voice add to his compelling performance. The chemistry between characters, engaging plot twists, and high production quality make this show a must-watch. It's heartwarming and entertaining, leaving viewers with valuable life lessons. Loved every part of it :) .
The wait from week to week for new episodes is so difficult because this drama is so much fun to watch. The main and supporting characters are endearing, there's a lot of comedy, the sets and filming are eye candy, there are healthy ideas about withholding judgment and second chances and having the courage to live the life you want, the female lead feels real and genuine like she could be any of us, and the male lead's voice and facial expressions just draw you in and keep you hooked. The ensemble works well together and has a positive energy that reminds me of the ensemble in CLOY. There are a lot of commonalities actually, so if you liked the interactions between the characters there, you will probably like them here too. Kudos to the directors of My Sweet Mobster for bringing all of that out from the cast.
There are a couple of details that I didn't care for (the kitty villain's character is very off to me, and I didn't like that the female lead actually accepted to clean her colleague's home and especially didn't like the low-self-esteem, ingratiating way she conducted herself in that scene; I could have swallowed it if she had handled herself differently or had cleaned anyone else's home like a normal job instead of allowing herself to be used like that by someone with ungenerous intentions). But overall, this drama has been a very enjoyable watch and keeps us looking forward with much anticipation to each new episode. Yes, it contains lots of tropes and silliness, but in a good way that is entertaining. This drama is addictive and sweet like candy and will give you the same little boost that candy does.

I literally laugh out loud every episode. As mentioned in the comments, it's a light-hearted drama-nothing too serious and sometimes downright ridiculous. But it's one of those feel-good shows that brighten your day. For the past eight weeks, it's been such a joy to watch every Wednesday and Thursday. I enjoyed every minute of My sweet mobster; what an awesome cast, great job Uhm Tae Goo and Han Sunhwa and the Thirsty deer team!. You all did a great job with this. I really hope for a season 2 so I can look forward to more laughs and fun. Some people in the review section need to lighten up, jeez!
It's a romcom with very unusual cast I'd say. Um tae goo being the coolest gangster yet a softie is a delight to watch. The cinematography, story, acting, cast everything is topnotch. A romcom with 80% comedy and 20% romance lol..and ofc if there's um tae goo there will be action. The father-son relationship, childhood connection (not those irritating ones), power conflict all these plot made this drama even more interesting. Every character having thier own story but not dragging it too much was very refreshing. Loved Han Sunhwa's character as well. Her job as a kid's content creator was perfect for her character Eunha. Overall this one's absolutely worth it!!
