It seems a bit premature, but we wanted to have a place where we could begin tracking upcoming Netflix Originals expected to be hitting our screens in 2026. This is an extension to our 2025 movie and TV schedule, which we’ll continue to keep updated throughout 2025.

Important note: Given how far out we are from 2026, everything on this list is highly subject to change. We’ll keep it updated throughout 2025 and into 2026 with the latest confirmations of releases. As of right now, for most titles listed below, we’ve made assumptions based on filming schedules and/or if they’ve been excluded from the 2025 schedule. Of course, Netflix’s development slate is certainly much bigger than what this list implies, with likely well over 1,000 projects that have been announced or titles being worked on behind the scenes, although many will not see the light of day.

Matt and Ross Duffer want to clear up any confusion: Yes, the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” is coming this year. As a matter of fact, it may be even sooner than expected.

“We’re focused on visual effects sequences right now, which started back in January,” Ross Duffer told the audience at the Scad TVfest, where the brothers were honored with the Variety Showrunners Award. “It’s going well. We’re actually ahead of schedule, which is rare for us.”

It’s too soon to tell how the eight episodes will be released — if it will be all in one batch or, if like in Season 4, the show will be spread between two drops. “We will see,” Matt Duffer said. “I will say that it is coming this year. We’re definitely on target.”

With Stranger Things concluding in epic fashion this year, The Duffer Brothers (that’s Matt and Ross) are going to have to find a way to fill their time; after all, they’ve spent a decade on that show alone. With that, The Duffer Brothers have a couple of projects going on, one of which is The Boroughs, another project in development for Netflix. And while it might not be taking viewers to the Upside Down, it does share some qualities.

The Duffer Brothers turned up at the Next on Netflix event this week to not only promote Stranger Things but The Boroughs and Something Very Bad is Going to Happen, in which they will serve as executive producers. On these, Matt said, “Of the two projects, The Boroughs probably shares the most DNA with Stranger Things because it’s about a group of misfits who fight an otherworldly evil.

While speaking about their two forthcoming Netflix series, Ross Duffer and Matt Duffer, better known as The Duffer Brothers, talked about how the hit Netflix show they created, Stranger Things, influences their new projects.
