Cast decisions make or break Hallmark movies. They can elevate movies that we've seen, in different settings and versions, many times before, which is exactly what happened with "Autumn at Apple Hill".
The storyline is an old trope - inn needs saving, in comes some workaholic hotshot from the city, the two leads fall in love and save the inn - but Wes Brown and Erin Cahill make it better. They are some of Hallmark's best. Can't remember ever seeing a bad film from either of them, which is saying something considering their extensive catalogues. With less competent actors, this is a slog.
Good acting, a decent script (even though the story is a retread of a retread of a retread!), spectacular fall-tinged establishing shots. A good start to Hallmark's fall/Halloween slate of films.

Yes, it's yet another SAVE THE INN story, Elise (Erin Cahill) has inherited her Grandma and Grandpa's old Inn at Apple Hill. Elise grew up around the inn and loves being its caretaker, but the trouble is that the inn is falling apart, it doesn't turn a profit, and she can't get a loan to make improvements.
Luke (Wes Brown), is a workaholic and CFO of a New York major hotel brand, his mother who is the CEO insists that he take a vacation. Having fond childhood memories he decides Apple Hill would be the perfect place to relax. Elise and Luke meet and have a confrontation over an arcade game. Elise isn't happy to find out that Luke is also a guest at her Inn, and tries her best to make his stay uncomfortable. When they both realize they were high school classmates their attitude towards one another changes.
Luke learns that Elise could use some help, she eagerly tries his clever suggestions to make the Inn more profitable. The whole town rallies around Elise in hopes that Luke's idea works. A dilemma occurs when there's a crisis back at Luke's office in New York and his mother goes to Apple Hill to tell him he needs to return to the office. However, Luke has grown to love the Apple Hill Inn, Elise and the town. Now Luke has a difficult decision to make as he awaits to see the outcome of his suggestions for the Inn.
There is grest chemistry between the two lead actors and although the plot is similar to other Hallmark movies, the clever and witty dialogue keeps the viewers attention. A pleasant and entertaining Romcom.

In my opinion, Autumn at Apple Hill is enjoyable from beginning to end and is worth the watch.
Elise (Erin Cahill) has inherited a hometown inn from her grandparents (of course, because who doesn't own an inn in these movies?!), but is limited in funds and is too stuck in her antiquated ways to keep it afloat and relevant. In short, the place is breaking down, bookings have plummeted and it's losing money fast. Enter guest Luke (Wes Brown), a former local who's now a hard-charging hotel titan forced to take a vacay from the family business by his mother (portrayed by Paula Boudreau). As you can guess, Elise and Luke learn a lot about the inn and themselves as the story progresses. Does the inn ultimately get saved? Watch and find out.
I always remember Erin Cahill for one of my favorite Hallmark Xmas movies (Sleigh Bells Ring), and she remains a very watchable lead. Wes Brown never disappoints and together they have very good chemistry. The rest of the cast is just as enjoyable, especially main supporting players Boudreau, Sarah Luby and Adam Hurtig. This is a very good movie to watch as you decorate the house for Halloween or if you're in the mood for an entertaining fall rom-com. I highly recommend it.

Erin Cahill is Elise Jacobs, newly divorced, and having inherited her grandparents' property. It is a rustic inn in a smaller community. It needs saving, it has a lot of deferred maintenance, and it is not clear that Elise will be able to afford to save it.
Wes Brown is Luke Bellwether, son of a lady who is the chief of their company. Luke tends to be an overachiever, rarely taking any personal time. His mother basically orders him to get away. So he goes away to where he grew up, Apple Hill.
It turns out Luke and Elise were in school together but he being a couple of grades ahead of her, they didn't recognize each other after 20-ish years. But it is clear that she despises him at first. Then he shows that he is not so bad, therefore it is following the familiar Hallmark story arc.
My wife and I watched it, streaming, as pleasant entertainment. There isn't really anything novel but it is done well with attractive actors.
At home, streaming.

The small town Inn in this Hallmark Rom Com is lovely and filled with charm and character until they put an ugly arcade game right in the middle of the lobby! Do young people really want to stay at a place like that? And are they so vindictive that they would try to turn away a paying customer to their struggling business?
I was bothered by these and other things in the film. I understand that they had to manufacture some animosity between the two at the beginning...but it seemed really artificial and forced.
On the flip side, the romance and chemistry between the two leads seemed genuine which will appeal to romantics and the overall fall setting with a Halloween party was delightful. I can't believe that any bank in the world would give her a loan after she failed to meet her financial goals just strictly based on a happy photo of their grandkids?!?!? Said no banker on the planet.
The two leads are lovely and the setting is fall-tastic. Those are the reasons to watch it if you are a Hallmark movie fan. Be prepared to overlook annoying and unrealistic bits of the storyline. And why did she have to divorce or be a divorcee?

We have watched a lot of romcoms since the pandemic, and although this particular movie followed the typical checklist, it had a certain appeal that was lacking in many others. We particularly liked the secondary romance in the background, as well as the great performances by the lead actress and actor.
Initially, we thought that the rich guy coming to the rescue for the Inn keeper would be the winning formula. What was different about this movie however, was surprising - the rich guy did something different.
They of course, still fell in love. And of course, everything worked out in the end.

Wow! Hallmark has done it again Erin Cahill and Wes Brown are the two best actors Hallmark has. Their chemistry is amazing and both actors do a terrific job. This Romcom has to be one of the best ever. The plot is diff than the boring one Hallmark puts out and the support cast is very good. I love the mother of Wes. Def shoots be in more movies. I can't wait for the next time these two actors to do another romcom. Why can't all Hallmark movies be this good. The list of other HM actors are all quite good The story lines have to be done better like this one. All in all one of the best ones for this season.
It was a Beautiful experience watching this Movie. The Story was Awesome and the execution was Marvelous. The chemistry between Wes Brown and Erin Cahill is very much appreciable. The Movie gives a message to the audience that we have to try impossible things to succeed in an adverse situation. The Movie is 100% recommendable for the Family audience who are the supporters of the traditional western culture. On watching the Movie suddenly I remembered watching a Hallmark Movie 2 to 3 years back when the movies where really predictable but they defended the traditions and values which are missing in some of the recent Hallmark Movies.

Loved this film, perfect seasonal entertainment.
It's Hallmark-cheesy, but not overdone. Yes, the premise is totally unrealistic, but again - it's Hallmark.
Erin Cahill plays the owner of a struggling hotel. At first she hates Luke (Wes Brown) - CFO of a big NYC firm. But turnes out he's not as bad, he has history with the town, and so it goes.
Very light-hearted story about kind people, then there are some kind people, and then they meet new kind people. In an unbelievably beautiful setting.
Best caracter is Sarah Luby as Nora. She's fun and cares a lot about the hotel.
Erin Cahill has good chemistry with Wes Brown, even though I saw them more as friends.
With all the far-fetched plot devices only one thing bothered me: mother needed Luke's help A LOT. And then she didn't, because after all she was able to say two phrases herself. Huh?!

Hallmark did their thing with this movie! Great, original storyline, quirky, yet wholesome and likeable characters and banter that carried the movie. The locations, outfits, and character interaction made this movie believeable. Sometimes these holiday movies can get cheesy and redundant and this one ended that stereotype for me. I highly recommend if you are looking for an easy, funny, and witty movie. I hope Hallmark keeps churning out these original movies because I'm a sucker for them. With all the negativity and nastiness in the world today, it's nice to be able to escape with a genuine, cute movie.

7.8 stars.
Judging by the title, you might be thinking this is just another themed film, one for Autumn, just like any for Halloween, Christmas, Spring, Valentines etc... But this is far from it.
This is a wonderfully presented love story. It has all the great aspects of one, because it starts with some pretty heavy tension between the leads. This tension is not the usual light and quirky kind, it's the real deal, and yet it's not too heavy either. They figured out how to create just the right amount of angst between them and when they finally see what's going on, who they are, who they were, and how they sort of knew each other; it's amazing how things change.
No, this is not a totally crazy awesome romance like some of the mainstream classics, but it's very good for Hallmark fare, no doubt. This would seem to be a must-see every other year. I say that as I'm writing this, but I'm realizing now into about my third year of hardcore Hallmark viewing, that I don't actually have the time to watch all the ones I like more than once every 3 to 5 years. So, this is a must-see every 5 years. Any film I rate between 7.5 to 7.9 is a once-every-five-year film. Anything 8.0 to 8.4 is a 3 year and anything above that is open season. I've loosened my ratings starting right about now. Need to have continuity in my reviews as much as possible.

This is a good movie, folks!! First, let's talk casting which was - excellent - Erin Cahill & Wes Brown - are talented actors, and together they 💯 had chemistry. I really enjoyed how the movie leaned into their mutual hatred of each other🤣, like hard, before having them fall for each other. The feel of this movie too is just so pleasant and VERY autumnal - in fact one the most authentically feeling movies I've seen from Hallmark in a while. The movie (narrowly) avoided the big bad developer trope, for which I was grateful. Overall it was a really solid, enjoyable, fun, well-acted, Hallmark movie.

I enjoyed everything about this cute Fall movie & would watch it over & over again anytime! It's definitely worth the watch! The movie & cast are fun & adorable & the writer did a great job putting it all together. Love is in the air! I would say awesome job all the way around! This is real life every day stuff. It's funny & romantic all at the same time. Just love the sense of humor and how it all ends. Love always comes through every time! I also appreciate the way it's clean & enjoyable to read & watch & the great vibes you feel while doing so. If you want a funny & cute love story & something that makes you feel great afterwards then i recommend watching this great movie.

Everything I'm about to say could be construed as criticism...if we weren't talking Hallmark.
This film is 100 percent exactly what you think it will be. It is utterly predictable both in plot and underlying script. It is the quintessential paint-by-numbers Hallmark big city/small town romance (with one exception I will discuss at the end).
And all the above is great! You'll watch it with a friend or partner and probably make fun of it. That's a big part of its charm! The movie really is a vehicle for the more meta-entertainment, sort of like Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Without giving spoilers, I would say the one unique thing in this film is that the male lead played a more "leadership"-y role than Hallmark usually allows. At times he's basically telling the female lead that she's wrong (and then things played out so that he was right). Very unusual for Hallmark or any movie made in the past decade.
