Trivia
The village where Nina and Ferdinand live in is Ronda in the south of Spain. This village is known for having the oldest bullring in the world, built in 1785.

Goofs
Ferdinand is given his name from birth, when he is being raised at the bull camp. He then runs away and is adopted by a new family, but how does this new family know that is name is Ferdinand? He was not wearing any identification tags, and he clearly couldn't speak to the humans to tell them this. But given that the bulls never spoke human in the first place, all their English lines are translated, Ferdinand is just the name given in translation.

Crazy credits
In a brief mid-credits scene, the hedgehogs are confronted by Tres who is revealed to have been alive the whole time.

Alternate versions
The UK version is cut for a U certificate, removing a use of "bloody", several scenes of characters being electrocuted, a sequence where Ferdinand and Valiente must evade blades in a meat processing plant, and Ferdinand being slashed during the climax.

Nice message

The central concept of having a bull that would rather smell flowers than fight isn't a bad idea for a kid's story as it promotes a sweet message. The main character as well as the supporting characters were likable. There were 3 German show horses in the field next to the bulls and these horses would act like they were superior to the bulls. At one point there was even a dance off between the horses and the bulls, which although completely unoriginal, it was funny. There was also a joke involving 3 hedgehogs and Spanish numbers, which was also hilarious. The most creative (although overly extended) joke was a sketch literally involving a bull in a china shop. These as well as some of the action scenes that were impressive. As well as Cena, I thought there was a pretty good supporting voice cast which they did good. Overall, Ferdinand is a fine movie with a nice message.
