You don't walk into Karuvanam like you do other shows. You're lured - like Meera and Shalini, drawn to a house that should've stayed locked. A house where silence weighs more than bricks. Where the dead don't haunt... they remember.
Two orphaned twins. One mother they never met. And a home that isn't welcoming - it's waiting. That's the hook. But Karuvanam is not just a haunted-house story. It's a slow, breathless excavation of shame, abandonment, and the mess families make when no one's watching.
And it's terrifying - not because of what jumps out - but because of what never leaves. The air is thick. The framing is surgical. Doors creak not because something's coming... but because something never left. The horror is so still, so still, you don't realize it's on you until you're carrying it around all day.
The performances are taut wires. The twins don't just act - they unravel. One seeks truth. The other clings to denial. Together, they walk the fault line between closure and collapse. Every conversation crackles with tension, every silence feels earned.
And that final reveal? No spoilers - but it doesn't explode. It exhales. And that's scarier.
Final Word: Karuvanam is trauma told in whispers. Horror told in restraint. It's not content - it's confrontation. And once you watch it, you'll never look at family the same way again.

Karuvanam strives to compete with the International 'Horror' genre, and manages to keep it standards on par with those acclaimed works on global platform. The characterisations are neatly written, and the way, the actors have inhaled the qualities, thereby delivering promising performances is appreciable. The first four episodes keeps us glued to the screens, and yes, the middle episodes go back in time to establish what's the actual mystery existing inside the house. But it's 'BOOM' moment from the Episode 9, especially, where an unexpected character turns out to be the 'Ghost' hunting down the victims. That's a spoiler, you would never like to reveal. Special mention to Sound Mixing and Background score. I loved the character of 'exorcist' who comes after 7th episode. His appearance is limited, but he just eclipses other actors with his realistic performance.

I want to commend the team on this excellent series they have created for the audience. After many years I am watching something that is keeping me hooked from the start to the end. I have stopped watching dramas for many years because of my job and but this drama is something I watch together with my wife every week. There is no fault I can tell, because I can see the all the massive work that has been done for this drama. Being Singaporean I know the cost to make this must be very high and that we don't get much money like movies or other countries but they have done it and brought a wonderful experience for the audience. If anyone has one hour to spare, I encourage them to watch just one episode. I promise you will be hooked. Thank you for this series.

Outstanding horror series that I have seen in the past years. Ever since I started watching more shows on platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, this is the first time I feel a local show is more than the standard for Netflix. From the screenplay and story to making, camerawork, art direction, acting, everything is super top notch. This series deserves to go much further and get much more recognition worldwide to show that Singaporeans are capable of amazing stuff. Congratulations to Director and the whole team. I hope there is a season 2 in the making that they can do for a much bigger global platform.

You can go through the entire singapore database of series and you won't find a better one..the quality of making is way better than many OTT platform horror series/movies. This director deserves a OTT partnership. Everything works in this series. The cast are all spectacular. The introduction of every character makes sense and they all add strength. I've seen so many lacklustre horror recently that I am beyond happy and surprised that a Singaporean tamil series have set a good benchmark. Honestly I never wanted the series to end. That's how it was. I can only hope more Singaporeans support this.
The pacing and cinematography of show is incredible. But the story and direction of the show is what roped me in. Incredible story, had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next episodes. The world building in the show is absolutely superb and how each character had a part in it.
The casting really did an amazing job. Their performance really did the story justice and had me biting my nails.
For a local made show, this really pulled all the stops. Incredibly well made show and really push forward the status quo of all local shows. Personally I felt this show really pushed boundaries for local shows. I'm really excited for their next work from the director and the studio.

I must admit, I wasn't initially familiar with the actors, but they delivered performances that were nothing short of exceptional. Their acting was so convincing that I found myself pondering whether these talented individuals hail from Singapore. After watching the series, it sparked a thought in my mind: it would be wonderful to see collaborations between these actors and the mainstream Tamil film and web series industries. It fills me with joy to see a diverse group of gifted writers, directors, and actors from different corners of the world working tirelessly to enrich the Tamil cinema landscape with their incredible talents.
Now, what is "Karuvanam" truly about? Interestingly, I thought it might have been more intriguing if it had been titled "BLACK FOREST," which could have captured even more attention (just a light-hearted suggestion!). However, the screenwriting deserves major accolades and recognition for its brilliance. The directorial skills displayed throughout the series are impressively refined, showcasing a level of maturity that enhances the overall viewing experience. The actors serve as the perfect embodiment of the characters, bringing depth and emotion to the narrative.
Among my favorite moments are those nuanced scenes that are sprinkled throughout the series, each leaving a lasting impression. However, I believe that what will ultimately resonate with most viewers is the second half, particularly the gripping episodes from Episode 6 to the finale. This part of the series is where the story truly captivates, weaving suspense and excitement that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.

There is one happy and sad thing about 'KARUVANAM' web series. The sadness is that such a brilliant work gets stuck to just YouTube, and it would have been a world famous hit, if it was streamed on giant platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hotstar. The happiest thing lies beneath the reason I cited above. Yes, it's a scintillating web series that makes you feel worthy of watching the entire show without skipping any episodes. The writing is good and I felt that a slight tweaking would have made it much more impactful. But end of the show, the way, writers justify their reason behind taking time to establish the premise and giving importance to all characters, is a sheer brilliance. One of the best web series of 2024, and it's surprising that it comes from other part of the world, and not Tamil Nadu. Such web series should be extolled and made sure that the producers take a note of the ambitious drive of this team, and try to bring on more instalments from this franchise.

Horror narratives that emphasize the emotions of female characters tend to capture our attention effectively. Whether it's Eeram or acclaimed films like Mama from Hollywood, this theme is consistently present. In Karuvanam, the story focuses on twin sisters. The opening episode presents a stage play where one sister must shoot the other character, but she hesitates to do so. This moment hints at a potentially similar climax, which indeed shares that connection, albeit with an unexpected twist. While it may seem like a spoiler, there's much more to discover.
The cinematographer has done an exceptional job with the visual composition. Many scenes showcase a deliberate use of shadow and limited lighting in the interiors, yet the visuals remain striking. The pinnacle of the technical team's achievements unfolds in the final episode.
I find common ground with many viewers regarding the standout moment: the revelation of the true ghost.
IMO, Karuvanam is a best horror watch many years after 'Eeram'.

When this web series was launched on YouTube, it was released regularly with couple of episodes every week, with each having a duration of approximately 45 mins. But then, when few started going for the binge-watch, they started feeling it's lengthy. I thought let me start watching it with remote constantly glued to my hand, so that I can wrap up the entire show in a short span. To my surprise, I felt that every scene had a significance, and nothing is added here unwanted.
The little girl going to the local photo studio to restore the old film roll brings more mystery on par with the main crisis dealt by Shalini and Meera. Similarly, we are introduced to a lunatic character in the mental health center, where Shalini's husband gets admitted, only to get shocked that the guy who was considered as a clown has a biggest mystery to break.
OMG! The final moments between Shalini and her husband at the hospital, where the mystery gets broken send ultimate fear into the spines.

The Karuvanam web series is truly captivating. I was initially unsure if it would be worth my time, but it quickly delivered unexpected thrills and chills that I didn't see coming. The series is packed with twists, and the shocking revelations towards the end left me eager for a rewatch. The final four episodes feel like an intense, continuous climax, making the experience even more gripping. I'm eagerly anticipating the next season, hoping the creators will bring back the beloved supporting characters. Additionally, a spin-off featuring the two exorcists, Guru Somasundaram and Abbas Akbar, would be incredibly exciting to see. The music in this series is outstanding, and the sound department has truly excelled, deserving all the recognition for their remarkable work. Hope the mainstream Tamil web series makers have a look at 'Karuvanam' and start making more such International standard web series.

There are couple of things that instantly struck me when I was watching the series. Karuvanam is just brilliant in all aspects, and draws us into its premise from the initial episodes. However, what's little disappointing is that why it didn't make it with the biggest production houses. Hoping the sequel gets a perfect collaboration. Yes, my favourite picks are the penultimate to climax episodes. Of course, the climax portion is colossal as it is set in a grand outdoor location. I have come across many horror films and web series, where the climax would have staged inside a house or a big cave, but this one with so many characters is just awesome.

Yes, I am a hardcore fan of horror films and web series. Naturally, I get attracted to this kind of stuffs beyond linguistic and regional boundaries. When I decided to watch Karuvanam after getting impressed with the trailer, the director's ability to reveal the entire story premise was so damn stunning. Usually, we get those revelations only after the mid or final moments, but here, we are so clear what the story is all about. When I kept guessing that one particular character could be the ghost, I totally got shocked to see the unbelievable twist. My favourite pick if 'Deepa' character from the flashback. GO FOR IT GUYS!

At first, I honestly thought the show was just another run-of-the-mill entry in the horror genre, especially during those first few episodes. I found myself rolling my eyes at the predictable scenes and wondering if it could break free from the same old formula. But then came the game-changer: the flashbacks! Suddenly, the intensity of the horror skyrocketed, and I couldn't look away. By the time I reached the 9th episode, I was completely hooked! The twists hit me like a whirlwind, and the moment the true nature of the ghost was revealed? Absolutely mind-blowing! The performances of the cast are nothing short of spectacular. Deepa and Shalini, the lead characters, are phenomenal-truly mesmerizing! They brought the show to life and had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish!
Usually I am not a fan of the horror genre in general but I was recommended this series by my friend who knows my deep interest in well-made shows. For many years, I have stopped watching local shows because I was never able to find something that appeals to me or interests me enough to keep watching more than past the trailer. When I saw the trailer for this drama, I was already convinced that it is special.
I started watching the series when 5 episodes were already out on YouTube. And all I can say is that I am so glad that I didn't miss out on this experience. The story has been keeping me hooked from the beginning and the episodes are so well-paced that the end of every episode leaves you wanting more. I'm proud to say that this local show from a tiny media ecosystem in Singapore has produced world-class tv. Great job to the team, looking forward to more from them.

As someone from Tamil Nadu, I've always been on the lookout for web series that can compete on an international level. Until recently, that was quite a challenge, with only a handful of gems like "Suzhal" and "Vadhanti" really breaking through with their authenticity. But then I stumbled upon a mind-blowing series called "Oh Butterfly" that took my viewing experience to a whole new dimension!
Now, the same incredible director has unleashed a spine-tingling horror-thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat: "Karuvanam." This series is a rollercoaster of emotions, shock, and surprise! From crafting a beautiful love story to delivering a chilling narrative that sends shivers down your spine, this director is truly a genius. What really captivated me were the jaw-dropping twists that unfold in the latter episodes. The gradual buildup of mystery in the first four episodes is nothing short of masterful!
Final Word - Don't miss out! Watch it in and experience it for yourself!

Best things come late in time! All throughout this year, the web series from Tamil zone have been not that much exciting. I expected that Amazon Prime would release the Suzhal Season 2 as soon as possible. But then, it got delayed. Just when I was about to get disappointed, I surprisingly came across KARUVANAM that came as a total astonishment. It was a kind of alien moment for me. I was so unfamiliar with the actors and technicians. Not even a single known face, but then, I started getting drawn into it. At moments, I felt that few episodes are slightly stretched out, but director proves us wrong, where he brings back the same scenes, to connect the dots, and then surprise us by the end.
Karuvanam is a series that boasts of stunning performances, top-notch technical aspects and brilliant crafting of screenplay.

"Karuvanam" is an exceptional web series that truly deserves greater recognition and appreciation for its contribution to the Tamil entertainment landscape. In a domain where high-quality web series have been rather scarce, "Karuvanam" stands out as a source of pride. The cast demonstrates remarkable professionalism, effectively bringing depth and nuance to their characters, making them relatable and engaging for the audience.
A special commendation goes to the technical team behind the series. Their dedication and expertise have significantly elevated the visual experience, contributing to the overall impact of the storytelling. The cinematography, sound design, and visual effects are impressive, showcasing a level of craftsmanship that rivals larger budget productions.
Typically, horror series and films are associated with high production costs; however, "Karuvanam" challenges this notion by proving that a compelling narrative combined with well-crafted writing can capture and maintain the audience's attention, regardless of budget constraints. The series expertly weaves together a strong plot with captivating elements, ensuring viewers remain engrossed from start to finish. All in all, "Karuvanam" is a shining example of what can be accomplished with creativity, talent, and dedication in the Tamil web series arena.

I didn't expect much from this drama when i saw ppl posting about it but when i finally watched it, i was so shocked. From the camerawork, to acting, to story to backgrounds, it was superb! I could not believe it was available for free on YouTube. This type of show is something i will expect to see in netflix or another OTT platform.
One thing i am sad about is that there are not many people watching it. Some shows that are not so good have millions of views. I hope this show can reach much more people all over the world so that can also see this fantastic show. Hoping for season 2 to come soon on netflix or amazon!

I started following few production houses from Singapore that have been making sensible dramas. I am a great fan of 'Yaar' franchise, and eventually happened to check a surprising experience with 'Oh Butterfly', which was so soothing and emotional at the same time. I was shocked to see the same director Kumaran Sundaram, coming up with a gory horror tale, which will choke your hearts, and at times, test your nerves with unexpected twist and turns. What I loved about the series is that it doesn't use the jarring sounds and unwanted jump scares, but throws the ultimate horror moments with simple yet riveting way. The writing gets so intense and powerful after 8th episode in my opinion. I am actually irresistibly in revealing the spoiler, but holding back the horses so that the viewers don't lose their gripping experience.

I would like to clarify that there will be some spoilers here. I couldn't help but share my excitement after watching all 12 episodes of "Karuvanam." The high points of the series began with the twists that started occurring by the third episode, and the flashbacks involving the character Deepa were genuinely frightening. The young actress delivered an outstanding performance on-screen.
Now, for the real spoiler: it happens in the penultimate moments when it seems everyone has figured out who the ghost might be, but the unexpected revelation comes from the innocent guy in the mental asylum. WHAT A TWIST! You might think I'm going to reveal more, but I won't spoil the mystery so you can experience the thrills for yourselves.
"Karuvanam" is truly a breakthrough in Tamil web series to date. I can't wait for the second season to begin!

Karuvanam is a very nice web series that deserves more appreciation. I would say it's a pride to the Tamil domain, where there haven't been any quality web series. The actors look so professional, and they have brought forth more life to the characters they have essayed. My special note of appreciation goes to the technical team that has strived at its best to enhance the visual elements. Usually ,horror series and movies can be made only with big budgets, but Karuvanam rubbishes those myths, thereby assuring that a strong plot, and convincing writing is more than enough to engross the audiences.

This web series excels in its detail, ensuring that viewers have no cause for concern regarding logical inconsistencies. The incorporation of elements from Korean and Indonesian horror-thriller series stands out, resulting in a well-crafted narrative that keeps audiences emotionally invested. The depiction of the bond between the sisters is particularly compelling. Although the romantic relationships could have been developed further, this minor shortcoming does not detract from the overall enjoyment of the series. It remains a thrilling experience filled with numerous spine-tingling moments. The final episodes, especially the climax, are executed with impressive production quality, adding a cinematic flair. I strongly encourage everyone to watch this web series; it promises a fresh and engaging experience that should not be missed.

"Karuvanam" is a masterfully crafted horror series that delivers a chilling and immersive experience. The show shines with its phenomenal acting performances, where every cast member brings depth and authenticity to their characters. The emotions are raw, and the fear feels tangible, pulling the audience deeper into its eerie world.
The screenplay, while a slow burner, is meticulously paced, allowing the tension to build layer by layer. It doesn't rush to scare but instead lures viewers into its haunting narrative with subtle hints and a growing sense of dread. This deliberate pacing pays off with moments of genuine terror that linger long after the credits roll.
The eerie background score (BGM) is another standout element. It heightens the suspense, often making the silence between notes more terrifying than the crescendos. The haunting melodies and unsettling soundscapes perfectly complement the series' dark tone.
Lastly, the cinematography is nothing short of top-notch. Each frame is a visual masterpiece, with creative camera angles and hauntingly beautiful visuals that amplify the atmosphere. The interplay of light and shadow is especially commendable, creating a sense of foreboding that permeates every scene.
"Karuvanam" is not just a horror series; it's an experience that leaves a lasting impression. For fans of the genre, it's a must-watch that sets a new benchmark in storytelling and technical brilliance.
