Now that the “Crisis on Earth-x” has been averted (somewhat), it’s time to refocus our concerns on the immediate dangers threatening the superheroes of The CW. Let’s begin in National City, shall we?

There was much ado just as Barry and Iris went to say “I do” during Night 1 of the Arrowverse’s “Crisis on Earth-x” crossover event.
Part 1 | Following a cold open in which Dark Arrow killed Earth-x’s Guardian/James Olsen while in the pursuit of tech needed for a Wmd, much of Monday’s opening hour was otherwise light and breezy and fun, fun, fun, starting with the Flash duo’s scattered superfriends (very) belatedly committing to their RSVPs amid melees with ninjas, medieval grunts and, yes, a Dominator. Mon-El finally re-enters Supergirl‘s orbit on Monday (The CW, 8/7c), but before you get too excited, you might want to heed this warning from star Melissa Benoist: “It won’t be the reunion you expect.”
As recently revealed in first-look photos from the episode, Mon-El returns accompanied by Saturn Girl (played by Bollywood actress Amy Jackson), a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes in DC Comics lore. According to Benoist, this creates “a brand new set of problems that you’ll see pretty quickly.”
And Kara isn’t the only character with reservations about Mon-El’s new squad.

Supergirl might be back for season 3 but Kara Danvers is not the same. The season 3 premiere, "Girl of Steel," presented a radically different Kara from the one that fans left at season 2. Following Mon-El's exile to save his own life, Kara took all her grief and built a hardened emotional shell. While the premiere eventually had Kara let her guard down slightly, it's clear that the emotional scars of the Mon-El "break-up" aren't going away any time soon and that's very worrying for the quality of season 3.

The Girl of Steel was feeling pretty down on herself atop Monday’s Supergirl premiere, with only daydreams of Mon-El and her mother — literally underscored by a song called “Daydreaming” — as an escape from her heartache and guilt. Supergirl brings The CW's Arrowverse (and much of the rest of the network's fall line-up) roaring back to life. While it's very good to have Supergirl back, Kara Danvers probably doesn't feel the same way. Although she saved the day at the end of season 2, it wasn't without a cost.
Kara's boyfriend, Mon-El, was forced to leave Earth, and Kara, to save his life. The Supergirl season 3 premiere, titled, "Girl of Steel," focuses heavily on Mon-El's departure, but they might go just a tad too far with the misery.

Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer may recall season 2 premiere “When She Was Bad,” in which our hero sports a particularly bad attitude as she processes the traumatic events of the previous season’s finale. Given the near-destruction of National City in season 2 of Supergirl and the ultimate exile from Earth imposed on Mon-El (Chris Wood), Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) is understandably in a similarly troubling place. It’s quite a change of pace for the bright-eyed Girl of Steel to suddenly find herself at such an emotional crossroads, but that’s precisely where season 3 of The CW series begins.
Much like Arrowverse sister series The Flash, Supergirl received some flack last year for going a bit too dark with its storytelling, despite the introduction of Tyler Hoechlin as a hopeful vision of Superman. So, it’s telling that the showrunners here are...

A few short years ago, Arrow was merely but a standalone show on The CW – and superpowers didn’t exist in that universe. Obviously, that changed before long when Barry Allen was introduced in season 2, thereby serving as a springboard to his own hit series, The Flash. And, in the time since, what’s been appropriately dubbed the “Arrowverse” has expanded with the likes of Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl. Well, the latter is technically part of a broader multiverse, but that truly illustrates just how far we’ve come.
Something else about this shared continuity that’s delighted a multitude of viewers is that of the crossovers it’s lent itself to. Each fall, the heroes of the Arrowverse unite to take on a threat too big for any one of them, with each subsequent year’s offering becoming even more grandiose than the one that preceded it. And...

Much like its other sister shows occupying the Arrowverse, Supergirl has embraced the comic books that have inspired it by surrounding the title character with a rich supporting cast. Aside from Kara’s sister, Alex, fans have come to also love the likes of James Olsen/the Guardian, J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter and Mon-El.
Now, while each of those major players listed undoubtedly hold a special place in the Girl of Steel’s heart, one could argue that it’s actually Alex who keeps Kara tethered to humanity better than all others. After all, we’ve seen what happens when a Kryptonian goes off the rails in the Injustice games and such, so it’s important that our heroine have her rock, as it were.

The great thing about the Arrowverse is that with it being so expansive, it hasn’t limited itself to live action television and, in the past few years, it’s also spilled over into the comic book realm as well as animation. When it comes to the latter, much success was found with Vixen, which was first presented as a web series that spanned two seasons before being cut together as one seamless direct-to-video movie.
Having gotten a taste for exploring other characters and possibilities that the TV shows may not have the time or budget for, the producers have since decided to branch out with their next endeavor, that being Freedom Fighters: The Ray.
Basically, it follows the adventures of a group of heroes residing on a Earth-x, a parallel world where the Nazis won World War II. As such, it’s home to its own corrupted version of the Justice League.

By now, you’re well aware that The CW is quite open to the idea of crossovers, but normally reserve them for DC TV shows or other series that already exist within the same universe like The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Well, a mysterious new image has found its way online that seems to suggest otherwise and has given us much to ponder.
Funnily enough, this strange situation technically involves one DC TV show, that being Supergirl, but the other comes as a bit of a surprise. Believe it or not, the series in question is that of Riverdale, another fine live action comic book adaptation, albeit spun from the Archie Comics universe.
Without further ado, here’s the picture that Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa posted on his Twitter page, with the accompanying caption of “Look who dropped in to #Riverdale for a visit! Worlds colliding!! Can a crossover be far behind?...

Even though last year’s big DC TV crossover certainly gained a lot of positive feedback, a fair amount of viewers expressed some displeasure with the fact that Supergirl didn’t truly take part in the festivities, only serving as the prologue to what was actually an event shared by three other shows (The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow). Yes, the Girl of Steel herself got to participate, but we didn’t get to see our other favorite heroes venturing to National City.
Having recently learned that Kara Zor-El is primed to play a more significant role in this year’s crossover, it’s good to hear that she’ll be kicking things off this time around. In fact, the four-show extravaganza will actually be contained to two nights this year.

Last year saw the biggest crossover between the Arrowverse shows yet, as one week’s worth of Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow formed a movie-length alien invasion story. Fans loved it, of course, but if there was one major criticism it was that Supergirl wasn’t part of the core crossover. Thankfully, that will definitely be fixed this season.
Speaking with ComicBook.Com at San Diego Comic-Con, Supergirl showrunners Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller wouldn’t be drawn on the specific plot of the crossover, but they did promise that their show would kick off the event this year.
Rovner: “It’s a true four-part crossover that will start [with Supergirl] and be on this fall. And that’s all we can say about it. It’s going to be super.”
Queller: “It’s going to be awesome! Best crossover ever!”

To date, we’ve seen Supergirl show herself to be one of the kinder, more empathetic heroes that DC TV currently has to offer. Actually, one would say those qualities come with the territory when you’re part of the House of El.
Well, according to the freshly released trailer for season 3 that just came out of San Diego Comic-Con, the Girl of Steel will be facing a bit of an existential crisis when we rejoin her this fall. Truth be told, nobody can blame her as she just had to fend off a full-scale Daxamite invasion and, to her knowledge, just the lost the love of her life in Mon-El.
Taking that into account, distancing herself from her Kara Danvers identity (for the time being, at least) makes a bit of sense when you consider that someone like her feels like they have two separate selves, those being their Kryptonian and Earthling sides.

The CW’s Arrowverse shows have often played fast and loose with the classic trope of the superhero hiding their nighttime activities from their friends and family. For instance, The Flash currently features a whole host of employees of Star Labs who know that Barry Allen is the Scarlet Speedster.
Likewise, just about every major character on Supergirl knows that Kara Danvers is really the Girl of Steel. Every character, that is, except her close friend Lena Luthor. It hasn’t been entirely clear whether Lex’s little sister had worked out that her pal and National City’s savior are one and the same or not, but while speaking to TVLine in a recent interview, exec producer Andrew Kreisberg confirmed that Lena – as played by Katie McGrath – has not put two and two together yet. “At the moment, Lena definitely thinks they’re two people,” he said.

Supergirl's transition to The CW for its sophomore season has hit a few speed bumps along the way, but it swiftly not only found its footing, but finished off by hitting a full stride. Superman has made a couple of cameos throughout the series, sparking buzz around whether or not the Man of Steel would be too dominant of a presence, overshadowing his cousin, the title character of the show. In the season 2 finale, "Nevertheless, She Persisted," Supergirl shows us just how strongly the Girl of Steel can stand beside, maybe even a step or two in front of, her super-cousin.

In case you didn’t know – and really, how could you not? – Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman is about to storm into theatres. June 2nd is the date for your diaries and with the film generating an overwhelming amount of positive buzz off the back of its early screenings, the hype is definitely real right now. Granted, the first wave of reviews have yet to surface, so we can’t say for sure if it’ll be a hit or not, but those initial reactions from the press screenings definitely sounded promising.
So, imagine for a very brief moment that you’re a Warner Bros. executive. You’re sitting in a plush office, watching as the internet becomes awash with Tweets labelling Wonder Woman to be the “best Dceu movie” to date. What do you do? Crank the marketing machine up to 11, of course. And that’s exactly what WB has chosen to do.
