As reported in a Deadline exclusive, Hayley Atwell is set to reprise her role as Peggy Carter in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Unfortunately, she wasn’t announced by a chair, which is rude. Thanks, X-Men. I’m blaming you.

Atwell’s portrayal as the beloved Carter first crossed audiences' paths in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, where she served as a British liaison to the United States Armed Forces during their battles with the Nazis. Introduced to a frail Steve Rogers, she witnessed his selflessness and bravery, even in the most dire of situations. Carter soon fell in love with Rogers, but lost him to an air vessel trapped in ice for over 70 years.

During last night's Final Four games on CBS, Paramount Pictures announced that the brand new theatrical trailer for Tom Cruise's highly anticipated Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning - which originally debuted at CinemaCon last week - will be released online Monday!

Whether it'll drop during the National Championship Game or earlier in the day remains to be seen, but we'd wager on the latter since that's generally when the studio tends to launch new footage. We'd then expect a TV spot to debut during the game, directing fans online to check out the full-length trailer.

Law & Order: SVUofficially signs on the series' first female showrunner.

Per Variety, Michele Fazekas has been named as the new showrunner for Law & Order: Svu. Fazekas will be taking over for David Graziano, who has served as showrunner on the series for the past three seasons. While there has been no formal renewal of Law & Order: Svu for a 27th season as of the time of writing, such news is expected to come in the following weeks.

Fazekas and her longtime writing partner, Tara Butters, have co-created numerous fan-favorite series including Emergence and Kevin (Probably) Saves the World. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is facing an exciting change.

Writer and producer Michele Fazekas will be the new showrunner for season 27 of the long-running NBC crime drama, making her the first woman to do so. While the show has not been officially pick up for another season, it is “fully expected” to be renewed, per Deadline.

Michele will be replacing David Graziano, who was the showrunner from seasons 23-26. This will mark her return to the show in nearly 20 years, as she also served as a writer-producer on Svu from seasons 3-7 in 2001-2006.

“Law and Order: Svu” has tapped the first female showrunner in the NBC procedural’s long history.

Variety has confirmed with sources that Michele Fazekas has been named showrunner of the cop drama, having previously worked as a writer and co-executive producer on the series from 2001-2006. She takes over the top spot on the series from David Graziano, who has been the showrunner for the past three seasons.

Reps for NBC declined to comment.

“Law and Order: Svu” is currently airing its 26th season. It has not been formally renewed for Season 27 at this time, but is widely expected to be in the coming weeks.

Along with her longtime writing partner Tara Butters, Fazekas was most recently the co-showrunner on “The Boys” spinoff “Gen V” at Amazon. The second season of that show is currently in the works.

With Butters, Fazekas also created shows like “Emergence” and “Kevin (Probably) Saves the World.

Hayley Atwell has been in the MCU right from the start, first introduced as Peggy in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger and went on to make numerous appearances throughout the 'Infinity Saga' even getting Agent Carter standalone series. Post-Endgame, she returned in the What If…? animated series as Captain Carter and brought the character to live-action again in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as part of the Illuminati. However, the actress recently shared that her cameo as Captain Carter wasn’t satisfying due to creative reasons.

While fans think that an actor who has been a mainstay of the franchise will have more creative control or input about their character, Atwell revealed in a new podcast a tense moment from Multiverse of Madness where she was “able to stand up for myself with grace.” The actor shared that her cameo in the movie was like “blink and you’ll miss me.

Actress Hayley Atwell embodied the role of agent Peggy Carter to perfection in the MCU. The actress debuted with Captain America: The First Avenger and eventually headed her own series, Agent Carter, with Marvel Television. While her story ended in Avengers: Endgame, she reprised her role in Doctor Strange 2 as an alternative version.

Atwell’s role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was limited but brutal. She is brutally killed by Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch despite being the Captain America of that dimension. Hayley Atwell established herself as a fan favourite in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, leaving Marvel Studios no choice but to bring her back into the fold. 

That started with a fun "One-Shot" short and, following an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cameo, Marvel Television launched the Agent Carter TV series (the only one of their shows that Marvel Studios executives were actively involved with).

Years later, Peggy was made the face of Marvel Animation's What If...? as a Variant of the character who took the Super Soldier Serum and became "Captain Carter." She also struck a chord with fans, so her live-action debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was cause for celebration. Until it wasn't. 

She died in short order and, confusingly, the Captain Carter who died at the Scarlet Witch's hands was another very similar Variant and, ultimately, a waste of that long-awaited debut.

Terrifier's Art the Clown is just the first horror icon to riff on Marvel's Avengers: Doomsdaycast announcement. The humorous post came in response to Marvel Studios revealing a host of fan-favorite returning actors in the next Avengers film.

According to a post from the official Terrifier X account, David Howard Thornton will not be making an appearance as Art the Clown in Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel Studios has slowly begun revealing the main cast for Avengers: Doomsday. Earlier today, the studio launched a live broadcast on social media platform X that has so far revealed one new cast member for the highly-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe movie every 12 to 15 minutes.

For the broadcast's first 15 minutes, only a director's chair with Chris Hemsworth's name on it was visible. The camera then panned forward to reveal a second chair with Vanessa Kirby's name. The actor is set to make her MCU debut in this summer's The Fantastic Four: First Steps as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman.Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Captain America) was the next actor unveiled, with his chair being preceded by "The Avengers" theme, another sign that pointed to the broadcast being connected to the fifth Avengers movie.

Cap, you see, had expressed regrets over becoming a superhero. Working as a superpowered soldier devoted to fighting bad guy had robbed him of a normal life with a family and a home. Also, it didn't help that he was frozen in a glacier as a young man in the 1940s and remained in cryo-stasis for many decades, awakening in the 2010s. His old would-be girlfriend Peggy (Hayley Atwell), his age in the 1940s, had become elderly while he was frozen, kind of interrupting any romance they might have fostered.

Exclusive: L.A.-based Lion Forge Entertainment has closed a UK streaming deal with Itvx for its fantasy superhero animated series Iyanu, based on Nigerian mythology.

The streaming platform for the U.K.’s free-to-air broadcaster ITV has acquired exclusive VOD (including AVOD) rights for the UK and non-exclusive rights for Ireland.

“We are very pleased to be bringing the wonderful Iyanu to the UK. Our Itvx viewers are in for a treat,” said Darren Nartey, Senior Acquisitions Manager: Films & Kids at ITV.

Iyanu is set to launch this spring with 26, twenty-two-minute episodes. U.S. viewers will be able to watch the series on Cartoon Network and Max, while Lion Forge has previously secured a deal with Showmax to stream the show in 44 countries throughout Africa. Through various supernatural ways that be can used in specific lores to revive dearly departed characters to the endless possibilities of the multiverse that can bring in alternate versions of those characters from another world, the comic book medium has defied the natural order of things time and time again.

Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to close out Marvel Studios' Multiverse Saga. This means that the epic crossover event will feature fan-favorite characters from across the last three phases, including all three cinematic versions of Spider-Man.

There has not been a more longstanding issue of canon in the MCU than that of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Along with fellow ABC series Agent Carter, there have been many suggestions that the shows are canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but several glaring plot points have ultimately led to arguments over exactly how the shows could possibly fit into the far-reaching Marvel timeline. The Agent Carter fandom is in high spirits today. The latest episode of What If...? Season 3 featured the surprising return of a character who debuted on the short-lived ABC drama series.

The Stark family's butler, Edwin Jarvis, returned in What If...? Season 3, Episode 2, "What If... Agatha Went to Hollywood?," with James D'Arcy reprising the role from Agent Carter. This marks D'Arcy's third appearance in a Marvel Cinematic Universe project after having previously made a surprising cameo in the 2019 blockbuster hit, Avengers: Endgame. D'Arcy wasn't the only Agent Carter alum to return for the Agatha Harkness and Kingo-centered episode. Dominic Cooper also returned as young Howard Stark, a role he first played in the 2011 film, Captain America: The First Avenger, and recurred as in Agent Carter's two seasons.

Eternals introduced us to Arishem, a Celestial who was planting seeds on various planets that absorbed the energy being emanated by their populations to lead to the birth of new Celestials. Then he sent Deviants to protect these planets, and when that plan backfired, he deployed the Eternals to take care of said Deviants. But then the group was at odds with each other regarding Arishem’s decision to sacrifice Earth so that Tiamut, the Celestial growing at Earth’s core, could be born. That was followed by a big fight over it; you get the gist. Meanwhile, we got to learn all about Agatha Harkness through WandaVision and Agatha All Along. Her whole deal was absorbing the powers of every powerful being in her vicinity in her quest to become the greatest witch of all time. The second episode of What If Season 3 imagines what would happen if the Eternals crossed paths with Agatha.

The "Is Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. canon?" debate rages on. Brad Winderbaum, Head of Marvel Television and Animation, recently addressed whether Marvel Studios considers the beloved ABC superheroes series part of the official sacred timeline.

Although initially billed as the first television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios never properly acknowledged S.H.I.E.L.D., despite the show including numerous tie-ins to the theatrical movies during its first three seasons. While Winderbaum didn't provide an exact confirmation or denial during his interview with Screen Rant, he did share that he had spent a considerable amount of time pondering the question. After the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline has started to canonize past Marvel TV shows like Daredevil, Agents of Shield and Agent Carter get a clarification from Marvel Studios. While Disney+ is the main source for Marvel Studios TV shows, fans are still hoping to see the ABC era of Marvel series being more acknowledged in the MCU continuity. With shows like Agents of Shield and Agent Carter still unclear where they are in the overall canon, the ABC dramas may finally be getting close to being placed in the Earth-616 timeline.

The cast of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is starting to be revealed. It is very well known at this point that Robert Downey Jr. will be playing a different role in the multiverse movie, and more recent reports suggest he'll be joined by some familiar faces.

Recently, it was reported that Steve Rogers actor Chris Evans would be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, following his run as the McU's Captain America (and a Fantastic Four cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine). Now, Deadline has reported that Hayley Atwell has been tapped to appear in Avengers: Doomsday as well. She is expected to reprise her role as Peggy Carter, though it's still unclear if Evans will return as Steve Rogers, or if he'll be in a different role altogether, similar to Downey. In any case, the casting reports have been generating a lot of discussion with Marvel fans.

Yet another major star from the Marvel Cinematic Universe's past is returning to help conclude the Multiverse Saga. Hayley Atwell is apparently set to return as Agent Cartner in "Avengers: Doomsday," which is due to hit theaters in 2026. Marvel Studios did what many thought was impossible in 2012 by assembling Earth's Mightiest Heroes in The Avengers. A sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron, followed three years later before the stakes increased exponentially in Infinity War and Endgame.
