Our favorite 1940s wartime British agent is back to dance and fight Doombots. And she’s all out of dance partners.
As reported in a Deadline exclusive, Hayley Atwell is set to reprise her role as Peggy Carter in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Unfortunately, she wasn’t announced by a chair, which is rude. Thanks, X-Men. I’m blaming you.
Atwell’s portrayal as the beloved Carter first crossed audiences' paths in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, where she served as a British liaison to the United States Armed Forces during their battles with the Nazis. Introduced to a frail Steve Rogers, she witnessed his selflessness and bravery, even in the most dire of situations. Carter soon fell in love with Rogers, but lost him to an air vessel trapped in ice for over 70 years.

During last night's Final Four games on CBS, Paramount Pictures announced that the brand new theatrical trailer for Tom Cruise's highly anticipated Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning - which originally debuted at CinemaCon last week - will be released online Monday!
Whether it'll drop during the National Championship Game or earlier in the day remains to be seen, but we'd wager on the latter since that's generally when the studio tends to launch new footage. We'd then expect a TV spot to debut during the game, directing fans online to check out the full-length trailer.
Plot details remain under wraps, but we learned at CinemaCon that the film will pick up two months after the events of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, with Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) still seemingly on the run and presumably on the hunt for the sunken Sevastopol.

You won't find a cinematic event in 2026 that will be bigger than Avengers: Doomsday. Spider-Man: Brand New Day might match it in box office takings, but that's a whole other story. Either way, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to enjoy a hugely successful year. The Multiverse Saga is set to come to an end with those two films, plus another Avengers in 2027, and there is a reason that the world is talking about Avengers: Doomsday.
Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU in the new role of antagonist Doctor Doom, as he is set to step forward as the Multiverse Saga's new Big Bad. How he takes the spotlight from former villain Kang the Conqueror remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: A huge range of heroes are going to be needed to stop him. And that's why Marvel made audiences watch a five-hour livestream as they...

Hayley Atwell has been in the MCU right from the start, first introduced as Peggy in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger and went on to make numerous appearances throughout the 'Infinity Saga' even getting Agent Carter standalone series. Post-Endgame, she returned in the What If…? animated series as Captain Carter and brought the character to live-action again in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as part of the Illuminati. However, the actress recently shared that her cameo as Captain Carter wasn’t satisfying due to creative reasons.
While fans think that an actor who has been a mainstay of the franchise will have more creative control or input about their character, Atwell revealed in a new podcast a tense moment from Multiverse of Madness where she was “able to stand up for myself with grace.” The actor shared that her cameo in the movie was like “blink and you’ll miss me.

Actress Hayley Atwell embodied the role of agent Peggy Carter to perfection in the MCU. The actress debuted with Captain America: The First Avenger and eventually headed her own series, Agent Carter, with Marvel Television. While her story ended in Avengers: Endgame, she reprised her role in Doctor Strange 2 as an alternative version.
Atwell’s role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was limited but brutal. She is brutally killed by Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch despite being the Captain America of that dimension. Atwell reportedly was frustrated with the cameo as she felt that the death undermined the character, especially after saying a classic Captain America line.

Hayley Atwell established herself as a fan favourite in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, leaving Marvel Studios no choice but to bring her back into the fold.
That started with a fun "One-Shot" short and, following an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cameo, Marvel Television launched the Agent Carter TV series (the only one of their shows that Marvel Studios executives were actively involved with).
Years later, Peggy was made the face of Marvel Animation's What If...? as a Variant of the character who took the Super Soldier Serum and became "Captain Carter." She also struck a chord with fans, so her live-action debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was cause for celebration. Until it wasn't.
She died in short order and, confusingly, the Captain Carter who died at the Scarlet Witch's hands was another very similar Variant and, ultimately, a waste of that long-awaited debut.

Marvel Studios has slowly begun revealing the main cast for Avengers: Doomsday. Earlier today, the studio launched a live broadcast on social media platform X that has so far revealed one new cast member for the highly-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe movie every 12 to 15 minutes.

For years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has enthralled audiences around the world on the big screen. But in recent years, it has taken the adventures to the small one too, entertaining us from the comfort of our own homes with cutting edge adventures that are still worthy of the biggest screen imaginable.
With the launch of the Disney Plus streaming service back in 2019, major franchises like Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney itself were able to produce multi-episode adventures to appeal to both the established audience of each brand and new viewers along the way. It was a new way of reaching people - or, rather, an old way of reaching people via a new method.

The medieval-inspired Continent and dimly lit streets of Hell's Kitchen may be worlds apart in many ways, but they share a similar brilliant mastermind behind them. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich brought Netflix's The Witcherto international acclaim in 2019, but first, she created a different kind of epic: 2017's ambitious crossover and Marvel's biggest TV series, The Defenders.
Before she began telling the story of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, Hissrich skillfully connected four stories of four Marvel heroes, building a foundation that prepared her for the sophisticated imaginary realms she went on to design. Her move from Marvel's street-level heroes to Netflix's biggest fantasy property highlights how skills acquired in one genre can adapt to another in the right hands.

At the end of Anthony and Joe Russo's 2019 superhero flick "Avengers: Endgame," the beleaguered Steve Rogers, aka Captain America (Chris Evans), used a time machine to deliver the magical Infinity Stones back to their rightful places in history. Cap's superhero compatriots expected him to return to the present when he was done, bur he did not.
Cap, you see, had expressed regrets over becoming a superhero. Working as a superpowered soldier devoted to fighting bad guy had robbed him of a normal life with a family and a home. Also, it didn't help that he was frozen in a glacier as a young man in the 1940s and remained in cryo-stasis for many decades, awakening in the 2010s. His old would-be girlfriend Peggy (Hayley Atwell), his age in the 1940s, had become elderly while he was frozen, kind of interrupting any romance they might have fostered.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" looks set to rise from the grave, with Sarah Michelle Gellar reportedly set to return as her iconic character. This is great news for everyone who grew up watching the original series in the late '90s and early 2000s, but the revival probably won't arrive for a while yet, and that means having to wait impatiently. Still, what if we told you that there's an awesome show that's similar to "Buffy" and flew under the radar at the time of its release? No one is ever truly gone in the world of comic books. Through various supernatural ways that be can used in specific lores to revive dearly departed characters to the endless possibilities of the multiverse that can bring in alternate versions of those characters from another world, the comic book medium has defied the natural order of things time and time again.
Remember how Arrow revived Sara Lance using the Lazarus Pit? What about how it brought in the Earth-2 version of her sister, the Black Canary, after senselessly killing off the Earth-1 version? That's just one example of that, and the Arrowverse franchise as a whole was arguably ahead of its time considering the multiverse is everywhere nowadays - largely due to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's take on the phenomenon.

The Russo Bros. recently revealed to Empire Magazine that it was their longtime Marvel screenwriter Stephen McFeely who came up with the idea that lured them back to the MCU after “Avengers: Endgame” to helm the upcoming “Avengers” movies “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars.” However, McFeely originally turned down the chance to write more Marvel movies with a blunt “fuck no” to Joe and Anthony Russo.
“’Endgame’ was the end, and it took a little time for us to begin to think about it as something other than an end,” Anthony Russo said. “Really what happened was, we ended up stumbling upon an idea that activated all of us. Captain America: The First Avenger was an effective introduction for Steve Rogers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Three years later, Captain America: The Winter Soldier blew it out of the water and, for the most part, it's since overshadowed the 2011 blockbuster.
Cap's origin story is well worth revisiting, and the movie boasts an impressive cast which, alongside Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell, includes Sebastian Stan, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, and Stanley Tucci.
The latter recently spoke to Variety and reflected positively on his brief stint in the MCU where he played the heroic Dr. Abraham Erskine, the man who created the Super Soldier Serum. He also serves as a mentor, of sorts, to the young Steve.
"Then you also have the fun big movies that you do. I loved 'Captain America: The First Avenger,' it was one of the greatest roles and jobs I’ve ever had,...

The best Chad Michael Murray movies and TV shows include a mix of young adult releases, and in recent years, more adult drama fare. Murray got his start as an actor after he graduated from high school and won a modeling scholarship, which helped him pick up an agent. He moved to California and quickly earned a role in the MTV drama series Undressed. This helped lead to his breakout role on The Gilmore Girls as Tristin DuGray.
After another recurring role in Dawson’s Creek, Murray’s popularity exploded when he grabbed one of the leading roles in One Tree Hill. This also led to several film roles, mostly in young adult movies like Freaky Friday and A Cinderella Story. He hasn’t slowed down since aging out of many of those young adult releases, earning some great roles in movies like Fruitvale Station and TV shows like Marvel’s Agent Carter and Sullivan’s Crossing.

It seems like Marvel Studios has finally cracked the code to television: last year saw two Marvel-based TV shows, X-Men '97 and Agatha All Along, receive critical acclaim — as well as a fan fervor that's rarely seen for Marvel's small-screen projects. But this isn't the first time the Marvel Cinematic Universe has launched a television series. Ten years ago this week, Marvel Television launched Agent Carter on ABC — a spy series revolving around Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) following the events of Captain America: The First Avenger. Peggy has to work to clear the name of Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) when Howard's weapons start falling into the hands of foreign spies. With the help of Howard's butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy), Peggy carries out clandestine missions while working for the Strategic Scientific Reserve (S.S.R.) and dealing with the loss of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Agent Carter was sadly canceled after two seasons,...

The following contains spoilers for American Primeval, now streaming on Netflix.
Netflix's American Primeval is a TV series that lives on gut instinct, depicting a visceral cesspool of pioneering settlers, religious zealots, and Indigenous Americans all fighting for supremacy. Mark L. Smith, who co-wrote Oscar winner The Revenant with Alejandro J. Iñárritu and Michael Punke, is behind this frontier story, which rivals that 2015 movie. Just as The Revenant pulled no punches, American Primeval, set in Utah circa 1857, takes an equally brutal approach to depicting the harsh realities of frontier life.
The show's world is defined by powerful personalities and public acts of extreme violence. Taylor Kitsch inhabits the grizzled figure of Isaac Reed, swathed in animal hide and concealed beneath facial hair. He's a man of few words who is forced into the company of Betty Gilpin's Sarah Rowell and her son Devin. Their rescue from and survival of...

These days, Marvel is everywhere. It's been that way for most of the decade thanks to the success of the Avengers franchise, but ever since the series' Multiverse Saga commenced, we literally mean everywhere. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has continued its dominance on the big screen by reaching out to the small one too, producing multiple Disney Plus shows a year that almost all share continuity with the MCU movies.
Being in a world where there are Marvel TV shows may not seem that unlikely for viewers who grew up fans of the classic series such as The Amazing Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk, but the older fans of the MCU likely never saw the day coming when the franchise would make its presence felt across film and TV. Or maybe they did, for once upon a time, there were a number of Marvel TV shows that were thought to...

Eight years after a strange part of the Stark family's history was introduced into live-action, Marvel Studios' What If...? has finally made it officially canon to the MCU. What If...? season 3 explored some of the weirdest realities that the Multiverse Saga series ever has, and debuted characters such as the Mech Avengers, Darcy Lewis and Howard the Duck's hybrid daughter and 1872's Shang-Chi and Kate Bishop. One episode of What If...? season 3, however, while detailing a cosmic Celestial-sized story, also brought something first seen in the Agent Carter series into the MCU proper.
Seeing Agatha Harkness assume the power of the Celestials wasn't the only interesting thing about What If...? season 3, episode 2, "What If... Agatha Went to Hollywood?" In fact, What If...? might have just brought Marvel Television's Agent Carter series one step closer to being made canon to the McU's main continuity of Earth-616, similarly to how Netflix...

The MCU has grown so large over the years that many actors who've appeared in different series have also appeared in the superhero franchise - which is notably true for 15 actors who also had roles in Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror. Marvel Studios has had fantastic success when it comes to casting of the universe, with some actors being essentially synonymous with their characters at this point. Another interesting aspect of Marvel Studios is their ability to bring in prestigious actors for smaller parts, or one-off roles, as well.
With the massive upcoming MCU release schedule, there will probably be even more incredible actors joining the ranks, and it is nice to see where they have been before. MCU actors come from all over the place in the movie and television industry, and continue to after their time as a comic book character is up. Still, one show that stands...

There has not been a more longstanding issue of canon in the MCU than that of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Along with fellow ABC series Agent Carter, there have been many suggestions that the shows are canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but several glaring plot points have ultimately led to arguments over exactly how the shows could possibly fit into the far-reaching Marvel timeline. The multiverse has made this debate even more relevant, and it seems that one person who has been constantly thinking about it is Marvel Studios’ Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum.
The MCU is set to continue integrating Daredevil into its story next year, and with other legacy characters having the potential to make a reappearance in the franchise, the status of the old ABC shows – which ran completely separate to the MCU with a couple of minor crossovers – is once again being questioned.

The following contains spoilers from Marvel Animation's What If...? Season 3, Episode 2, "What If... Agatha Went to Hollywood?," now streaming on Disney+.
The Agent Carter fandom is in high spirits today. The latest episode of What If...? Season 3 featured the surprising return of a character who debuted on the short-lived ABC drama series.
The Stark family's butler, Edwin Jarvis, returned in What If...? Season 3, Episode 2, "What If... Agatha Went to Hollywood?," with James D'Arcy reprising the role from Agent Carter. This marks D'Arcy's third appearance in a Marvel Cinematic Universe project after having previously made a surprising cameo in the 2019 blockbuster hit, Avengers: Endgame. D'Arcy wasn't the only Agent Carter alum to return for the Agatha Harkness and Kingo-centered episode. Dominic Cooper also returned as young Howard Stark, a role he first played in the 2011 film, Captain America: The First Avenger, and recurred as in Agent Carter's two seasons.

Eternals introduced us to Arishem, a Celestial who was planting seeds on various planets that absorbed the energy being emanated by their populations to lead to the birth of new Celestials. Then he sent Deviants to protect these planets, and when that plan backfired, he deployed the Eternals to take care of said Deviants. But then the group was at odds with each other regarding Arishem’s decision to sacrifice Earth so that Tiamut, the Celestial growing at Earth’s core, could be born. That was followed by a big fight over it; you get the gist. Meanwhile, we got to learn all about Agatha Harkness through WandaVision and Agatha All Along. Her whole deal was absorbing the powers of every powerful being in her vicinity in her quest to become the greatest witch of all time. The second episode of What If Season 3 imagines what would happen if the Eternals crossed paths with Agatha.

The "Is Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. canon?" debate rages on. Brad Winderbaum, Head of Marvel Television and Animation, recently addressed whether Marvel Studios considers the beloved ABC superheroes series part of the official sacred timeline.
Although initially billed as the first television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios never properly acknowledged S.H.I.E.L.D., despite the show including numerous tie-ins to the theatrical movies during its first three seasons. While Winderbaum didn't provide an exact confirmation or denial during his interview with Screen Rant, he did share that he had spent a considerable amount of time pondering the question. "Well, I'll tell you this, and put it to you like this. It's exciting for me to think about how to square those ABC shows with the canon," he remarked. "That, to me, if you know me and the way my brain works,...

After the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline has started to canonize past Marvel TV shows like Daredevil, Agents of Shield and Agent Carter get a clarification from Marvel Studios. The cast of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is starting to be revealed. It is very well known at this point that Robert Downey Jr. will be playing a different role in the multiverse movie, and more recent reports suggest he'll be joined by some familiar faces.
Recently, it was reported that Steve Rogers actor Chris Evans would be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, following his run as the McU's Captain America (and a Fantastic Four cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine). Now, Deadline has reported that Hayley Atwell has been tapped to appear in Avengers: Doomsday as well. She is expected to reprise her role as Peggy Carter, though it's still unclear if Evans will return as Steve Rogers, or if he'll be in a different role altogether, similar to Downey. In any case, the casting reports have been generating a lot of discussion with Marvel fans.

It's clear to see that Avengers: Doomsday is one of the most anticipated movies of the coming years. On the surface, it's an Avengers movie; of course it's going to be a big one. But for fans who have been keeping up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe as regularly as possible, it's so much more than that.
Avengers: Doomsday is the opening act of the Multiverse Saga's grand finale. Much like 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, it will kickstart the battle to end all battles and hopefully save the universe from imminent danger. That danger comes in the form of Doctor Doom, who will be portrayed by franchise veteran Robert Downey Jr.
Marvel is going big with this one in a bid to both revive the MCU saga and send the multiversal chapter out on a high. Accompanying Rdj will be fellow MCU stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Anthony Mackie, Tom Holland, Chris Evans,...

Hallmark is known for having a pretty reliable stable of artists. Once an actor has starred in one of the many Hallmark Christmas movies out there, chances are, you'll start to see them over and over again. In fact, there are a small class of actors who can eke out a reliable living solely through their appearances in holiday films. Especially for a channel like Hallmark, which goes into sicko mode every fall, churning out dozens of Christmas movies to round out their calendar for the last few months of the year.
Aside from familiar faces, sometimes Hallmark manages to score an actor who is more well-known for their career outside of the holiday film ouevre. Often, they make little pit stops between other projects -- sometimes they're content with a one-off appearance, other times they're assimilated into the Hallmark family, taking on more holiday films afterwards.

Chad Michael Murray wishes he could have spent more time with Jack Thompson. The actor recently opened up about playing the Ssr agent in the short-lived Marvel Cinematic Universe series, Agent Carter, which ran for two seasons on ABC back in the mid-2010s.
In an interview with ComingSoon, Murray reflected on his brief MCU experience, revealing that he loved playing Jack Thompson. "I think there’s a universe where Jack Thompson had a much bigger world, you know what I mean? There’s something really cool about Jack Thompson. We never really peeled the layers, we never really pulled back and saw what was beneath the surface. I always like to say Jack would’ve been back," the actor shared, referencing Agent Carter's Season 2 cliffhanger that saw Jack shot and left for dead in his hotel room. "I can picture it now, and we would’ve learned a lot more about Jack,...

The show may have been incredible to watch on screen, but the behind-the-scenes was indeed rigorous and extremely draining. One particular actor even thought he would be out of work forever.

Marvel Studios did what many thought was impossible in 2012 by assembling Earth's Mightiest Heroes in The Avengers. A sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron, followed three years later before the stakes increased exponentially in Infinity War and Endgame.
With the end of the Multiverse Saga rapidly approaching, this era of storytelling will be capped off with Doomsday and Secret Wars. Beyond that, the plan is reportedly for the MCU to be softly rebooted, likely leading to recastings and the X-Men and Fantastic Four calling the Sacred Timeline home.
But what of The Avengers? We're sure they'll still have an important role to play and, in this feature, we're exploring the way the franchise can evolve in a new MCU. From new locations to the type of stories being told and the team's place in this shared world moving forward, we have a lot of thoughts on where they go from here.

Ultraman: Rising continues the beloved Ultraman universe that first began in the 1960s, with the new Netflix original treading new ground in terms of visuals and storytelling. The film has set itself apart as an original kaiju movie that focuses more on the protection of the giant creatures than battling them, after new protagonist Ken Sato discovers an egg of a baby Gigantron that imprints on him as its parent. The film is directed by duo Shannon Tindle and John Aoshima, who previously collaborated on the 2016 release Kubo and the Two Strings.
Rising marks the introduction of Sato, who's only recently taken up the Ultraman mantle from his father, and must navigate his heroic duty with the duty he has to his own family and Emi. The film has received critical praise for its visual direction, much of which was spearheaded by VFX supervisor Hayden Jones. Jones is an industry veteran in effects,...

I would be completely honored to carry on in some way, or to have Lara in my life in a different capacity, for sure."
