The highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, has been a topic of controversy ever since it was announced in 2019, and it seems like the production is no easy feat either, as Miles Teller, who plays Jackson's entertainment lawyer, John Branca, recently shared the challenges of bringing the King of Pop's story to the big screen.
Apparently, the crew behind Michael has recreated several key moments at the infamous Neverland Ranch, a place Jackson considered home for more than a decade. During his appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Thursday, Teller shared crucial details regarding the film's production.
"I play John Branca, his entertainment lawyer. We filmed at Neverland. It was wild. Somebody else had bought it, but we dressed it up."
The Top Gun: Maverick star revealed that filming at Neverland Ranch was a surreal experience, especially considering they had to recreate the set, as Jackson sold the property in 2005. Nevertheless,...

The weight of responsibility is very much on director Tadashi Nakamura’s mind throughout the process of making “Third Act.” He’s making a film about his father, Robert A. Nakamura, a giant of American independent cinema while trying to make his own mark on the medium outside of his father’s shadow. He’s dealing with sensitive topics that his family has mostly avoided talking about, while trying to make an unvarnished documentary about how circumstances shape an artist’s legacy. Tadashi Nakamura takes on a lot with “Third Act” since it’s a historical and educational documentary while also being a very personal story. He succeeds.
Nakamura, the father, was interned along with his Japanese American family during WWII, a shameful and disturbing period in 20th-century American history that has never been fully acknowledged or dealt with on a national level. Of course, that period in his life...

Films are made over many days, but some days are more memorable, and important, than others. Imagine yourself in ten years looking back on this production. What day from your film’s development, production or post do you think you’ll view as the most significant and why? Looking back on the production of Third Act, one of the most significant days for me was filming a scene of my dad and me driving to the Rose Bowl for a UCLA football game. This wasn’t just any outing—it was a tradition my dad and I shared for nearly three decades, starting when […]

The Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, could very well become one of the biggest musical biopics ever made due to the entertainer's worldwide reach, which has only increased since his passing in 2009. Any studio wants their film to be successful, but a new legal wrinkle regarding the film may result in very costly reshoots that could balloon the movie's already reported $150 million+ budget.
According to a report from Puck, Michael may face delays due to having to reshoot much of the film's third act, which partially revolves around its portrayal of the child molestation case involving a then 13-year-old Jordan Chandler. Back in 1993, Chandler testified in court documents that the King of Pop made "sexual offensive contacts" with him, an accusation that played a huge role in damaging Jackson's career, particularly in the U.S.
Jackson settled out of court with the Chandler family for a reported $23 million, and no...
