An ensemble of Australian kid actors, with some of the best comedic timing I've seen, makes this show captivating. It goes back to the idea of: "tell me a story" as in this show a motley crew of diverse students, pretty much tell the story of their day at school (particularly at lunch time) with flashbacks that make it all the more funny and remarkable. The writing is crisp, but it's the kids' performances that truly make the show stellar!
My sister , of whom has an 8 year old, told my husband and I about Little Lunch. We were skeptical. But once we started watching it, we were hooked! This show is hilarious. Rory is SO funny! And when the characters look directly at the camera and speak...PRICELESS! So we wound up binge watching. We are SO excited for season 2!!! You will not be disappointed. I mean, we didn't even have a kid in the room watching! So I'd say this show is age appropriate for any age. Also, the kids in this show are respectful of adults, not like some of the Nickelodeon or Disney shows- where the children are Very disrespectful and they try and pass off as comedy. Little Lunch is genuinely a funny great little show!
I came across this when it was on Netflix a few years ago and I, fully an adult, binge watched the entire thing in a day. It's the best show and I genuinely enjoyed every single bit of it, still mad it didn't get picked up for another season so I came to let my frustrations and appreciations out in this review thank you
Little Lunch is the epitome of the tropes of Australian primary school. I'm currently 7:48 into episode one and the character development has really brought these mid teen actors playing children to life. Although, did see spoilers that Melanie's dog is called Rudy. Upsetting, though nevertheless this shows Australia's commitment to great television.
Cracking show. I love it and my kids love it. The stories are relatable and not the same old same old. Great to have them narrating the stories and even better to not have any canned laughing like irritating Disney shows when a joke is made. Only shame is they look too old to be playing school kids in the specials. Maybe could have done without them.
