Exclusive: Harry Potter star Tom Felton has boarded Gandhi, the Hansal Mehta-directed streaming series about the iconic Indian nonviolent resistance leader from Applause Entertainment.

Felton will play Josiah Oldfield, Gandhi’s first and best friend during a period he spent in London while studying law. Pratik Gandhi (no relation) is playing Gandhi, as we reported back in May 2022, and we can reveal his real-life partner, Bhamini Oza, will play Kasturba Gandhi, the Mahatma’s wife.

Based on a script by James Hey (“Doctors”), and directed by Isher Sahota (“Hollyoaks”), the film follows a dutiful husband and loving father whose life falls apart when decades of festering secrets are exposed and he’s forced to face up to who he really is. The cast includes Ace Bhatti, Laila Rouass, Navin Chowdhry, Shaheen Khan (“Mogul Mowgli”), Lauren Patel (“Everybody’s Talking About Jamie”), Adam Bregman and Mark Williams (the Harry Potter franchise).

Seven Network in Australia is this week to begin broadcasting “Police Strike Force,” a documentary series made in close partnership with the New South Wales police. The 6×60 minute series is produced by Wtfn and licensed internationally by Fred Media. “The Last Kingdom” is officially headed into the last season. After six years, split between two different networks, Season 5 will be the final season for the show, according to Deadline and Variety.

Originally debuting on BBC Two in 2015, “The Last Kingdom” found a home at Netflix in 2018. Channel 4 has commissioned six-part crime thriller, ‘Before We Die’, starring Lesley Sharp, Vincent Regan and Patrick Gibson, from newly formed production company, Eagle Eye Drama, launched by the same team behind global drama brand, Walter Presents.

Based on the hit Swedish series of the same name, The series is set in Bristol and is Eagle Eye’s second drama commission.

Lesley Sharp leads the cast as detective Hannah Laing who becomes deeply conflicted when she discovers her son is playing a crucial role as an undercover informant in a brutal murder investigation. Patrick Gibson plays the role of her mixed-up son, Christian, while Croatian actor Toni Gojanović, who starred in HBO Europe’s recent hit series, Success, will take on the role of Davor Mimica the leader of the criminal gang. Vincent Regan stars as Billy Murdoch, a non-conformist investigator, who is seconded to Hannah’s unit to advise on Eastern European drug gangs.

Hulu has acquired Sky comedy drama Brassic, while Acorn TV has picked up BBC’s Julia Ormond-fronted drama Gold Digger.

Both deals were unveiled by ITV Studios at Natpe.

Brassic stars This Is England’s Joe Gilgun, Ripper Street’s Damien Molony and Our Girl’s Michelle Keegan as well as Dominic West. Gilgun plays Vinnie, a man from the north of England with bipolar disorder and his best mate Dylan, played by Molony, whose girlfriend Erin, played by Keegan decides to leave town. Dylan is faced with the impossible decision between a fresh start with the love of his life or staying behind with his inseparable gang of mates that he can’t live without.

The series, which is produced by Calamity Films, the company behind Renée Zellweger’s Judy Garland biopic, was co-created by Gilgun and Danny Brocklehurst, the writer behind Netflix’s Michael C Hall-fronted thriller Safe.

Exclusive: British drama Dark Money has been snapped up by streaming service Bet+.

The former "Coronation Street" actress married Wright in 2015, but the couple have been forced apart because of their busy work schedules, reports thesun.co.uk.

The series, which launches today, August 22, has already been renewed by the Comcast-backed broadcaster.

Vault Comics’ space-set action title, Vagrant Queen, is getting a TV adaptation, which Syfy has ordered to series.

Vagrant Queen is bound for live-action glory. The Vault Comics title – created by writer Magdelene Visaggio with artist Jason Smith – is a fairly recent offering, having debuted back in February 2018, but it is now set up with a TV series adaptation over at Syfy, which has already given it a go-ahead as a 10-episode series.

Syfy’s TV plans for Vagrant Queen are already in the works, according to Deadline. As a production of Blue Ice Pictures, the series – an outer-space epic about an exiled queen on the run across the galaxy – is comprised of an all-female creative coalition of writers and directors, led by creator and showrunner Jem Garrard.
