Henry went on a rom-com writing spree that began with Beach Read, which came out in the summer of 2020. She has published a book a year since then, with People We Meet on Vacation coming out in 2021, Book Lovers arriving in 2022, Happy Place released in 2023 and Funny Story hitting shelves this year.

Three of Henry’s books received adaptation optioning deals for films, with two of them attaching directors. Starting in 2022, multiple studios made the decision to adapt various Emily Henry books into movies. The Writers’ and Actors’ strikes likely delayed any moves in casting, but a fourth novel has just been optioned by Jennifer Lopez’s production company for a television series adaptation at Netflix.

The feature directorial debut of Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tick. Tick… Boom! is the on-screen adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s semi-autobiographical musical of the same name. With a screenplay by Dear Evan Hansen writer Steven Levenson, Tick, Tick... Boom! follows Larson as he struggles with the internal turmoil of turning 30 and not achieving anything yet.

In 1990, Jonathan Larson originated the show off-off-Broadway, calling it Boho Days. Netflix is facing heat for its stance on password-sharing, with actor Justice Smith criticizing the news. The streamer has hinted at a change in its policy for awhile, testing it out in some Latin American countries first. On its U.S. help pages, Netflix originally posted that users would be required to sign in to their own home network every 31 days to continue using the service, prompting immediate outrage from consumers. However, the company soon clarified that only applies to Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru. A limited series about the Sandy Hook shooting and the ensuing eight-year legal battle between victims’ families and gun manufacturer Remington Arms has landed at Echo Lake Entertainment. Oscar nominee Robin Swicord (“When They See Us”) and Sarah Koskoff will create the show in consultation with several families directly affected by the tragedy and their attorneys.

Swicord, Koskoff and producer Mary Jane Skalski of Echo Lake Entertainment are teaming as executive producers to tell the story of the Sandy Hook case, which uncovered how a New York private equity firm purchased legacy American gun companies in the mid-2000s, effectively creating the equivalent of Big Pharma in the consumer arms industry. Swicord and Koskoff have followed the case closely and are consulting with several families who brought the lawsuit, as well as their attorney, Josh Koskoff (Sarah Koskoff’s brother).

Waterside Studios has found its first project in the miniseries “The Last Wish of Sasha Cade.” Created by Jacqueline Pepall, currently at work on “Horrible Histories” for the BBC, it’s based on a novel by Cheyanne Young.

Headed by Jeff Norton, who will produce, Waterside Studios is a new creative content venture from Canada’s Corus Entertainment and part of the Nelvana Studios group. The company was launched following an overall deal with Norton’s IP company Dominion of Drama.

The bittersweet story – pitched at Mia Market and billed as “All the Bright Places” meets “The Fault in Our Stars” – sees a high school girl trying to come to terms with her best friend’s passing of cancer. But Sasha keeps on revealing her secrets, as Rocki starts to receive letters written before she died. Sasha, who was adopted, had a brother she never knew. Now, she is asking her friend to meet him.

Best-selling author Emily Henry’s book “People We Meet on Vacation” movie adaptation has recruited Brett Haley as its director and Yulin Kuang to adapt the screenplay, TheWrap has learned.

Haley was previously best known for writing and directing “Hearts Beat Loud,” starring Nick Offerman, Kiersey Clemons, Ted Danson, Sasha Lane, Blythe Danner, and Toni Collette. His other credits include “The Hero,” which premiered at Sundance in competition in 2017, “All The Bright Places” starring Elle Fanning, and “All Together Now,” which was also recently released on Netflix. Haley has also directed an episode for the Hulu limited series Looking For Alaska, based on the award-winning novel of the same name.

Netflix users are issuing warnings for those planning to watch Luckiest Girl Alive.

Ilana Glazer is in talks to star in and executive produce a comedy series currently in the works at Amazon, Variety has learned exclusively.

The series is titled “The Suck” and hails from writer and executive producer Ally Israelson. The show asks the question “What if the last year on earth was the best year of your life?” It follows Lydia (Glazer) to London, in search of an other-worldly end. it is further described as the upside of apocalypse, because when the things that have always mattered cease to matter, how fun would that be?

Along with Israelson and Glazer, the series is executive produced by Fulwell 73’s Leo Pearlman, Jeff Grosvenor and Saskia Schuster, as well as Range Media Partner’s Susie Fox.

The book tells the story of Gould’s life after the unexpected death of her husband. Fanning will play actress Ali MacGraw, who was married to Paramount’s head of production Robert Evans.

Just after winning the Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer, MacGraw starred in Paramount’s blockbuster hit Love Story, for which she was nominated for an Oscar and won the Golden Globe for Best Actress. She would later meet Steve McQueen on the set of The Getaway and the two would fall in love and eventually marry.
