This article touches upon some potentially sensitive and very sad subjects. Please read on with caution.
Romantic heartbreak is ever-present in media, which is why countless sad romance movies have become ingrained in the pop culture lexicon. Jack's infamous demise in Titanic, Romeo and Juliet's deaths in Shakespeare's famous play, and Jenny's succumbing to a terminal illness in 1970's Love Story represent some of the most melancholic moments in film history. Even if cinematic history has trained audiences to root for a happy ending, a properly done gut-wrenching romance can be just as satisfying.
Romance movies can be heartbreaking for several different reasons. Forbidden love, breakups, dire circumstances and tragic deaths are all significant elements in cinema's saddest romance movies. There is simply no shortage of devastating romance films that will keep viewers dabbing at their eyes for hours.

Emily Henry has taken the romance genre by storm—with several of her romance novels becoming New York Times bestsellers year after year. With her book's ever-growing popularity among fans, it's no surprise that Emily Henry's romance novels are being adapted for screens. From Beach Read, the author's first foray into adult romance, to her latest release, Funny Story, every one of Henry's novels from the last five years has been optioned for TV series or film. And a variety of big-name studios and production houses are already attached to each project.
Henry's relatable and compelling romances make her books a top choice when it comes to romantic book-to-screen adaptations—and if studios stay faithful to the source material, the rom-com adaptations may soon become classics. While each project is currently at different stages of development, there are several large updates to each, including casting, writers, directors, and more.

Every year, there are outstanding performances that horror fans have come to accept probably won’t get the awards recognition they deserve due to their genre. Obviously, there are notable exceptions; but for every Kathy Bates in “Misery,” there’s Toni Collette in “Hereditary.”
It’s unfortunate that horror isn’t held in higher esteem, as it’s genuinely one of the hardest to get right. It’s a tricky balance, and it can easily go awry. One false move and your over-the-top turns will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. This year, in particular, has been great not only for genre films but also for the actors in them. In a just world, here are some of this year’s actors who would be recognized by Oscar voters.
Hugh Grant, “Heretic”
Perhaps the strongest shot at breaking into the race, the always reliable Grant is perfectly cast as Mr.

Actress Elle Fanning closed out her Cannes fashion parade by putting a French Riviera twist on the classic ’70s goddess gown. On Saturday, the All The Bright Places actress stopped traffic on the red carpet, posing in a sheer Gucci Cruise dress with a stunning, completely backless design at the 77th annual film festival’s closing ceremony.
With her oversized bell-shaped chiffon sleeves and layers of sheer fabric flowing around her, Fanning – who also debuted a shorter, platinum cut for the event – looked nothing short of elegant.
The former child star dazzled on the red carpet at the Palais des Festivals, twirling to highlight every angle of her retro-inspired chiffon gown by Gucci. The new HBO series “The Gilded Age” hails from “Downton Abbey” creator Julian Fellowes, and much like that hit period series, this one features a lot of characters. Several cadres of characters keep the plot pivoting back and forth between households and prominent locations around 1890s New York, as the show tells a story of New York City on the cusp of change, where the battle between old money and new money — as well as old and new ways of doing things — is being fought.
A mix of veteran actors and actresses balance out some newer talent in Julian Fellowes’ latest fictional show — from “Sex and the City’s” Cynthia Nixon to Meryl Streep’s youngest daughter Louisa Jacobson, who plays a main heroine at the heart of aristocratic New York City.

Elle Fanning, like her equally talented sister Dakota, have been two huge Hollywood stars since a very young age. The current protagonist of The Great has managed to make her own name for many years now, starring in big blockbusters like Maleficent, more independent projects like The Neon Demon, and even on the small screen with series like The Girl from Plainville or the already mentioned Hulu’s hit.
However, despite the myriad of titles and awards she's garnered throughout her career, and being recognized as one of the best young actresses in the industry, she may still have trouble landing some roles, especially if it’s in big franchises.
Speaking with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Fanning confessed that she lost a role in something big a while back because of her social media numbers:

Elle Fanning is opening up about the pressure in Hollywood to join large franchise films.
The All the Bright Places star told Josh Horowitz on Thursday’s episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast that she doesn’t feel the need to do projects for such brands as Marvel, DC Studios and Star Wars for success in the industry.
She said, “It does something for people, you know, but you also don’t know if they’re gonna work sometimes, which is also scary.”
Fanning said she had previously auditioned for a role in a larger franchise, which she did not name, but didn’t get the part because of her social media presence.
“I didn’t get a part once for something big — and it might not have just been this reason, but this was all the feedback that I heard — because I didn’t have enough Instagram followers at the time,...

Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey co-star in Ginny & Georgia, which just finished its sophomore season on Netflix — here is the Ginny and Georgia cast guide. The Netflix show follows a single mother who moves from Texas to Massachusetts with her two children. When Georgia's dark past affects the family's well-being, 16-year-old Ginny must make some difficult decisions. The title characters acclimate quickly in Wellsbury, Massachusetts. Ginny makes a strong impression on the mayor, Paul Randolph, while Ginny lands a date with a classmate named Hunter. Ginny also questions the syllabus in her English class, which doesn't go unnoticed by a group of girls known as "Man" (Maxine-Abby-Norah).
Soon after, Man becomes Mang, and Georgia becomes the talk of the town while dating Mayor Randolph. The storyline becomes much more complex when Ginny's nomad father, Zion, shows up, and things are further tested when Austin's abusive father Gil walks back into the picture.

Andrew Garfield and the Tick, Tick… Boom! cast helped to bring the beloved musical to life in a geature film with stunning results. The feature directorial debut of Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tick. Tick… Boom! is the on-screen adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s semi-autobiographical musical of the same name. With a screenplay by Dear Evan Hansen writer Steven Levenson, Tick, Tick... Boom! follows Larson as he struggles with the internal turmoil of turning 30 and not achieving anything yet.
In 1990, Jonathan Larson originated the show off-off-Broadway, calling it Boho Days. Over the next three years, he performed the rock monologue, now called Tick, Tick… Boom! in different festivals, venues, and theater workshops. This caught the attention of producer Jeffrey Seller, leading him to become a fan of Larson’s Rent and bring the musical to Broadway. Following Larson’s death in 1996, Pulitzer Prize winner David Auburn reshaped Tick, Tick… Boom! into a three-actor musical.

Netflix is facing heat for its stance on password-sharing, with actor Justice Smith criticizing the news. The streamer has hinted at a change in its policy for awhile, testing it out in some Latin American countries first. On its U.S. help pages, Netflix originally posted that users would be required to sign in to their own home network every 31 days to continue using the service, prompting immediate outrage from consumers. However, the company soon clarified that only applies to Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru. As of the most recent information on Netflix's help pages, users who regularly watch Netflix outside their home network must have their devices verified.
On February 3, Netflix actor Justice Smith joined the chorus on Twitter criticizing the company's new password-sharing crackdown:

Netflix users are issuing warnings for those planning to watch Luckiest Girl Alive.

Netflix briefly mentions that Luckiest Girl Alive features “sexual violence” and “threat” at the top of the screen when the film starts – but many users believe this is not enough, and are saying it should be made clearer that the film features “intense scenes of sexual assault”.
