Amid Severus Snape’s race swap controversies that’s been plaguing the highly anticipated HBO reboot of Harry Potter, fans have been trying to find hope in other possible spinoffs, surrounding the Wizarding World. And well, just like that a highly demanded Marauders spinoff idea kept popping up on social media.

Fans have always hoped to see the mischief and mayhem of young James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew brought to life. But as much as we’d love to see more Hogwarts hijinks, the idea seems to be as cursed as a Horcrux. Remember how Fantastic Beasts fizzled out faster than a faulty wand—fans believe The Marauders spinoff might face a similar fate.

The upcoming Harry Potter television adaptation has sparked a flurry of mixed reactions ever since it was first announced. Some fans have been skeptical about how it would look, considering the film franchise has been so beloved. In contrast, others are excited about the series’ ability to include more content from the books without a time restriction, like the movies.
Ben Barnes has been the most popular fanatic for a young Sirius Black since the films first came out, and now he is close to the age where he can play the older version in the television series. Here’s how the Narnia actor addressed the rumors about being cast as the character in the series.

Werewolves, originally titled Year 2, begins a year after a supermoon turned everyone who was exposed to it into a werewolf. For those who aren’t familiar with the term, a supermoon is a full moon that occurs when the moon is at the closest point to Earth, they have a dramatic effect on things like tides, but this one goes further than that. It unlocks mankind’s latent werewolf gene, causing unimaginable chaos and death. And now it’s about to happen again.
When we first meet Wesley Marshal he’s busy setting up defences at the home of his sister-in-law Lucy and her young daughter, Emma. They need the help because Wesley’s brother was a firefighter, killed in the line of duty during the first transformation.

Director Steven C. Miller is riding high after the release of his action-horror flick Werewolves this past weekend, and who can blame him? After all, he did get to work with Frank Grillo – one of the greats of the genre – but long before that, Miller also got the chance to work with another action star for what would be some of his final films: Bruce Willis. Now, he’s revealing what it was like to direct someone he grew up watching, which was an experience he calls "surreal."
Miller and Willis teamed up for three movies as the action hero was entering the twilight years of his career; 2015’s Extraction, 2016’s Marauders, and 2017’s First Kill. Speaking with Variety, the director told the outlet that the duo "had so much fun” together" and that they got along "beautifully." He would then go on to relay a story about Willis that...

"Seven Samurai" by master Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa might just be the most remade film ever. The 1954 film is, sure enough, about seven samurai recruited to protect a farming village from bandits. The setting, themes, and characters are Japanese, but the premise is evergreen. "The Magnificent Seven" is just "Seven Samurai" but with cowboys. "A Bug's Life" retold the story with, well, bugs. "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" episode "Bounty Hunters" recruits the seven from Jedi Knights and alien mercenaries.
"Star Wars" creator George Lucas is a well-known fan of Kurosawa. (Lucas even helped him finance his 1980 epic "Kagemusha.") The galaxy far, far away isn't the only space franchise that can riff on "Seven Samurai" though. "Star Trek: Enterprise" aped the premise for its season 2 episode, "Marauders."
First, though, why are Kurosawa's films so often remade in spirit (besides them being so good)? One reason is ease of translation. Kurosawa...

I just started playing Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and as a huge fan of more modern extraction games, it was one of my most anticipated titles of the year, as the franchise is largely attributed as one of the games to inspire the genre. So far, even though it's filled with jankiness, it's been a pretty fun experience. That said, it reminded me of an actual extraction game, one that I don't think gets enough shine and was one of my favorite betas to play in 2023.
As I played through Stalker 2, I realized how much this indie gem has in common with the title and how much it's been inspired by it. From the aesthetic to the basic gameplay loop to small features hidden around the different levels, it was actually my first introduction to Stalker and wasn't even a Stalker game.

Sophie Skelton is a fan favorite as Brianna Fraser on the Starz drama Outlander, but fans are hoping to see her pop up in another iconic franchise.
Many Harry Potter fans have named Sophie as their top choice to play the Boy Who Lived’s mom, Lily Potter (née Evans), in a new series.
Lucky for fans, Sophie doesn’t seem totally opposed to the idea, and she has some theories herself about why Potterheads want to see her as Harry Potter’s mom.
While nothing has been set for an upcoming Harry Potter series, fans can see Sophie playing another iconic redhead on Outlander, which returns soon. In the meantime, dive into some of the fan-casting theories!

The future of Harry Potter movies looked bleak after Fantastic Beasts 3, but another film is probably inevitable after Warner Bros.' Game of Thrones update. The Harry Potter films make up some of the most successful fantasy releases of the 21st century, but the franchise's Fantastic Beasts prequels aren't nearly as popular. HBO's upcoming Harry Potter remake might reignite the success of the Wizarding World, as a television medium will allow the writers to more faithfully adapt the original story.
Another Harry Potter movie is probably inevitable as well, though it may cover different ground than the show and the original films. The Wizarding World is one of Warner Bros.' biggest IPs, and the studio has already expressed the desire to make more Harry Potter spinoffs. Its most recent fantasy movie announcement further suggests that we'll see another feature film from the franchise. At this point, Warner Bros. seems...

“Hey! Bite Me!” A god amongst men, only actor Frank Grillo could utter this line at a oncoming werewolf he’s about ready to mow down.
Here’s the trailer for his new film Werewolves and it looks spectacular!
From the director of 2012’s awesome Silent Night, 2016’s Marauders and 2017’s Arsenal, Steven C. Miller is known for his work in both horror and action genres. Check out his movies if you haven’t seen them before!
In Werewolves, a supermoon event has triggered a latent gene in every human on the planet, turning anyone who entered the moonlight into a werewolf for that one night. Chaos ensued and close to a billion people died. Now, a year later, the Supermoon is back….
Grillo and Miller – whoa yeah! Definitely has a Dog Soldiers vibe to it! The film also features Katrina Law, Ilfenesh Hadera, James Michael Cummings and Lou Diamond Phillips.

Justin G. Dyck has almost 40 directing credits to his name, and most of those credits have been on TV movie romances with titles like Christmas Wedding Planning, Christmas with a View, A Very Country Wedding, and Art of Falling in Love… but recently, Dyck has been shifting gears. In 2020, he brought us the supernatural horror movie Anything for Jackson (pictured above), which was released through the Shudder streaming service. He went on to contribute to episodes of Shudder’s Creepshow series. Last month, we heard he will be directing the horror film The Casket Girls, starring Gabrielle Union. Now, Deadline reports that Dyck will be directing the haunted house movie William for Aperture Entertainment.

Warning: Spoilers for X-Men #5!Cassandra Nova is back and ready to terrorize the X-Men as their next main antagonist. Magneto was the X-Men franchise's original antagonist in its inception, but more recently, he's reformed as "the Dragon," with a new purpose to protect mutantkind. With Magneto committed to helping the world as a hero, that leaves a new spot for a new villain to take his place.
X-Men #5 written by Jed MacKay, with art by Ryan Stegman features the grand return of Charles Xavier's evil twin, as she positions herself as the franchise's new greatest evil. Nova has been long out of the picture for a while now, but she returns to X-canon with a vengeance, and makes an immediate impact.
However, as fans of the franchise know, there is a potential future presented where Cassandra Nova is the X-Men's leader, leading to speculation among the fandom about whether that future has been altered.

Warning: contains spoilers for X-Men #5Sigh... The beloved X-Men have countless iconic villains for writers to choose from, but sometimes it feels like just a handful are consistently used. One terrifying and powerful mutant villain I think is being used too often is the monstrous Cassandra Nova, the evil twin sister to Charles Xavier. Since Nova's debut in Grant Morrison's New X-Men, I have loved the horror that the character brings to her stories... but I truly believe it is time for Marvel to retire Cassandra Nova for at least a decade.
The dangerous Cassandra Nova recently had a starring role as the villain in the MCUs Deadpool & Wolverine - masterfully brought to life by the talented Emma Corrin - and this role has made Nova more well known than ever before in her sordid comic history.

Warning: contains spoilers for Exceptional X-Men #1Queer identity and politics have been an integral part of the X-Men mythos for nearly 50 years. Still, for much of that time, this queerness was relegated to subtext and fan headcanons. While Kitty's queerness was canonized during the Krakoan Age, her new starring role in Exceptional X-Men may finally allow the beloved hero to explore her sexuality.

It’s been almost two years since we last reported on Steven C. Miller‘s werewolf movie Year 2,starring Frank Grillo. The filmmaker has offered recent updates on social media, teasing that the long wait for action werewolf carnage is nearly over and that it appears to have a new title: Werewolves.

Wolverine's son Akihiro, aka Daken, was given the codename 'Fang' as an honorary title by the Shi'ar Imperium, but it breaks the tradition of 'mutant names' representing their abilities. Akihiro's mutations don't affect his teeth, unlike other fanged mutants in the X-Men universe, and another hero is already named 'Fang.' While 'Fang' has a cool history and connection to a previous hero, it deviates from the effort of mutantkind to have cohesive and culturally distinct names, and Marvel should reconsider the choice.
Wolverine's son finally got what he deserved last year, with a new codename that wasn't a direct insult. While fans have known Akihiro as 'Daken' since his introduction in 2007, that name was always an insult, branding him a 'mongrel.' However, while 'Fang' is a definite step-up for the hero, it breaks a major rule of what 'mutant names' are supposed to represent.

Although "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is probably the most widely beloved of them, a strong argument can be made that "The Last Crusade" is the real best entry in the Indiana Jones franchise. The duplicitous Elsa makes for perhaps the most compelling of Indy's love interests, and the introduction of Sean Connery as Indy's father paves the way for a more introspective look at Indiana as a person. "Temple of Doom" might technically be the only prequel in the series, but it's this third movie that seems most interested in exploring Indy's past.
The result is that this is the most intimate of the "Indiana Jones" movies, the one that cares the most about its main character's emotional journey. It's a choice that's reflected in the cinematography, which favors close-ups over the wider shots of the first two films. Some of the most memorable images of "Raiders" are...

Warning: references to self-harm follow.
"Gen V" is set at a school for superheroes ("Supes") and so naturally features a cast with a wide variety of powers. The most grotesque ability belongs to our lead, Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair); she can telekinetically manipulate blood. So far, we've seen Marie wield her power as a weapon and a healing tool (she keeps someone with a sliced neck from bleeding out).
Marie's powers arrived, naturally, during her first period at age 12. Superpowers as a metaphor for puberty is nothing new (see Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man"). However, this is the cruel world of "The Boys" — Marie couldn't control her powers and accidentally killed her parents. Now, she also uses her powers as part of a self-harm ritual; she keeps a pocket knife handy and is shown repeatedly slicing open her hand palms to pull blood out from the wounds.

When Steven Speilberg's ultra-slick pulp film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" was released in 1981, it was a massive success. Spielberg, following the template laid out by George Lucas a few years earlier on "Star Wars," made an old-world 1930s adventure serial with modern filmmaking techniques and storytelling tropes, transforming the simple, low-budget glories of the past into the marvels of the present. In many ways, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is a better sequel to "Star Wars" than "The Empire Strikes Back." I can imagine a world wherein "Star Wars," rather than direct sequels, spawned an anthology series wherein each chapter was a modern filmmaker doing their take on the pulp adventures of the past.
But that's not the way Hollywood works, as sequels are a more natural outcropping of a single success. As such, just as "Raiders" was raking in fistfuls of money, Lucas, the film's producer and story writer,...

Warning: contains spoilers for Marauders #12One of the most tragic events in X-Men history has just been given beautiful closure in the pages of Marauders #12, as Kate Pryde and her team communicate with the ghosts of the Genoshan Genocide and use their DNA to create an entire mutant civilization.
More than two decades ago, over 16 million mutant and human lives were lost in the Genoshan Genocide, when the horrific villain Cassandra Nova used an army of Sentinels to obliterate the island's population in 2001s New X-Men #114. Since then, the Genoshan Genocide has been a source of great trauma, and motivation, for the mutants of Earth, particularly Emma Frost and Kate Pryde who both lost people who were very close to them: a class of young mutant students for Frost and Pryde's human father. The future of the Wizarding World franchise is on shaky legs, but there are several plotlines cut from the Harry Potter movies that could be used for a spin-off. The Fantastic Beasts series has seen decreased performance in each subsequent film, with The Secrets of Dumbledore seeing the lowest box office numbers of Warner Bros' Wizarding World so far. However, love for the Harry Potter series and the world in which it is set is still high, which means the right story could turn things around. Instead of creating something new, the franchise is better off returning to the basics and covering a tale it originally missed.
A significant part of the issue with the Fantastic Beasts movies is that it worked too hard to jam plot points into places it simply didn't fit. Canon details were changed, the way the wizarding world was run was retconned, and character dynamics...

Of all the things to finally cause Indiana Jones — the man who specializes in barely escaping life-or-death situations — to falter, it was a telepathic crystal skull. 2008's "Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull" might have made close to $800 million at the box office and received moderately positive reviews, but the film's legacy is undeniable: The fourth Indy film was a low point for the revered saga. Even Steven Spielberg, who's directed every entry in the franchise thus far, claimed he didn't like the story any more than we did and shared fans' incredulity at Indy surviving a nuclear blast by hiding in a fridge.
Much of the disappointment likely stemmed from the fact that audiences had waited 19 years for the return of Harrison Ford's globe-traveling archeologist. With a build-up like that, "Crystal Skull" was always at risk of delivering an anti-climactic experience. Still, star Harrison Ford...

Long before Tom Cruise snapped his ankle in half jumping from rooftop to rooftop while making "Mission: Impossible — Fallout," Harrison Ford was putting his body on the line for our entertainment.
There's a long history of lead actors getting injured on movie sets while trying to capture something truly amazing for the viewing audience. Silent star Wallace Reid was famously injured in a train stunt gone wrong in 1919's "The Valley of the Giants" to the point where he ended up addicted to his pain management treatment (at that time the options were morphine or to just grin and bear it). That addiction would end up prematurely killing the young cinema star.

Indiana Jones will soon return in "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," another globe-trotting entry in the Indy saga that everyone's not really sure about because of a certain Crystal Skull of Akator. Still, franchise star Harrison Ford isn't worried, and has no hard feelings about "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." In fact, he's having a great time of late, forging a new prestige TV career by starring in the Apple TV+ series "Shrinking" alongside Paramount's popular "1923."
Some 40 odd years after Indiana Jones' 1981 debut, 80-year-old Ford can be found weathering blizzards on horseback and spending 10-hour days in the bitter Montana climate for his Paramount show. As Jacob Dutton, the Hollywood vet has shown a startling willingness to take on the physical demands of playing a rancher spending his twilight years protecting his family. But then, he's always preferred to perform as much of the on-screen action as he can.

HBO’s latest hit series The Last of Us now officially has a soundtrack for its first season, a massive, 66-song compilation of all the music scoring the post-apocalyptic tale. Check it out below.

In an upcoming interview with Consequence, Santaolalla describes his approach to the soundtrack, saying, “The process of adapting, it was more in a way like craftwork than actually a new creation, because the themes were there, those things are there, like the characters, it wasn’t about creating a new job, it wasn’t about finding what is interesting. For example, in seeing how Pascal and Bella, they’re different than the actors that played the voices, but at the same time, they keep the soul of the characters intact.”

There is no debating that Anakin Skywalker - or more fittingly Darth Vader - is one of the most dangerous Force users in the Star Wars galaxy, leading to the question of just how many people he killed across all six movies. From Darth Vader's first appearance in the original trilogy, he became one of the most fearsome, iconic villains in film history. This was largely due to his ruthless, evil presence across most of the original Star Wars trilogy.
This was only deepened in the prequel trilogy, which fleshed out Anakin Skywalker, the man beneath the mask. While his younger self was not widely considered as vicious and dangerous as the Sith Lord he became, both Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader killed many in countless battles across the galaxy. Harrison Ford explains how Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’s de-aging technology uses his actual face. Ford was 39 when he starred in the original Indiana Jones adventure, Raiders of the Lost Ark, way back in 1981. Now an 80-year-old Ford is coming back for one last go-around as the famed archaeologist/adventurer in the highly-anticipated Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
Though 80-year-old Ford is the main star of the new Indiana Jones film, the movie will feature a supporting appearance by a much-younger incarnation of the actor, thanks to the use of de-aging technology.
Appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Ford addressed Dial of Destiny’s de-aging tech (at around the 43-second mark of the above clip), and gave a brief rundown of how it actually works, revealing the way the technique employs old footage of his actual face to wind back the years. Start revving your engines, because Nitro Stream Racing is coming.
That’s the name of the project currently being developed by Captain.tv. The Vc-backed team is known for creating games that are meant to be played on stream. Nitro, which will let streamers race against their viewers, will feature Captain.tv’s trademark interactivity.
Nitro has another feature that figures to make it a popular choice among streamers: It’s being co-designed, tested, and promoted by some of the biggest names on Twitch and YouTube. Ludwig, Quarter Jade, and NorthernLion are all working with Captain.tv on the project.
Those streamers owe their involvement in Nitro to Loaded. The management firm facilitated the Captain.tv collaboration through its nascent consultancy, Open World.
“We love to see Captain.tv partnering with content creators throughout the game’s lifecycle and starting early in development,” said Loaded VP of Game Developer Partnerships Monica Loya-Clarke.

A brand new episode of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" means a brand new adventure for Clone Force 99 (Dee Bradley Baker). This time, they are between missions and looking to repair their ship. While hunting for parts in the junkyard with Wrecker, Omega (Michelle Ang) finds a star compass. When she takes it back to Cid's, the archeologist, treasure hunter, and pirate Phee Genoa (Wanda Sykes) is there and takes an interest.
Convinced the compass is a rare find and will lead to valuable treasure, she's able to persuade the Bad Batch to accompany her to a distant, uncharted planet in the Kaldar Trinary System to seek the treasure. For Uruguayan singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler, Tinta y Tiempo was an album that “almost didn’t happen.” In the past, the Oscar-winning veteran had stepped out in the world and shared bits and pieces of unfinished tunes with fellow artists — something that had been a vital part of his songwriting process. But confined to his home in Spain during the pandemic, he found himself without that nurturing feedback to support him, and many songs remained incomplete. “Two years went by, and I still couldn’t finish them,...

Tusken Raiders have been a fixture of the "Star Wars" universe from the very beginning, as the desert dwellers appear in the opening act of the original 1977 film. Given that we've spent a lot more time on Tatooine as of late -- thanks to shows like "The Mandalorian" and "The Book of Boba Fett" -- that also means we've spent more time getting to know the Tuskens. But what does it take to voice one of these fixtures of Luke Skywalker's home planet? Mostly, it's about not blowing your voice out.
/Film's own Vanessa Armstrong recently spoke with voice actor Kaitlyn Robrock, aka the voice of Minnie Mouse, who just so happened to do a lot of the voice work for the Tusken Raiders in "The Book of Boba Fett." In discussing the prep work for taking on that job, Robrock gave us a peek behind the curtain, saying...

Vanessa and Elwood Preview the “Horrors of Blumhouse” at Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood! [Images]
It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year… Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights!
Opening night is upon us and Bloody Disgusting’s Vanessa Decker & Elwood Quincy Walker got an early sneak preview of two of this year’s most anticipated houses: The Horrors of Blumhouse & Universal Monsters: Legends Collide…
In this year’s edition of The Horrors of Blumhouse guests are welcomed into Blumhouse Video, an abandoned haunted VHS rental store presenting the body-swapping slashterpiece Freaky & the terrifying summer blockbuster The Black Phone.
The Freaky section of the house is fantastic & throws you right in the middle of the film’s opening scene where the Blissfield Butcher brutally slaughters a group of teens one by one.
This house does a great job at recreating a lot of Freaky’s creatively gruesome kills, featuring the iconic shattering wine bottle throat kill & the skull-crushing toilet seat from what is one...

"I have quite the weekend in store for you…" Paramount Movies has unveiled an official trailer for a freaky horror thriller Margaux, the latest bland creation from B-movie action director Steven C. Miller. Yet another new "Artificial Intelligent turns against people" uninspired thriller, especially one that's about a smart home that turns deadly (why this again?). A group of college friends rent a smart house for a weekend of partying. Later, they start to realize that "Margaux", the house's super advanced AI system, has sinister designs for them. The cast features Madison Pettis, Vanessa Morgan, Richard Harmon, Lochlyn Munro, Jedidiah Goodacre, Phoebe Miu, Jordan Buhat, Brittany Mitchell, and Louis Lay. This is another of these "how does this junk keep getting made" kind of movies. It looks so cheesy and forgettable. ›››

4K discs are selling like hotcakes so it’s only natural for studios to give Home Theater fanatics the biggest vintage blockbusters. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg’s hyper-efficient, no-loitering juggernaut is a return to the joys of serial action thrills, one ‘did you see that?’ bravura sequence after another. Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones is pitted against Paul Freeman’s villainous Belloq, and the might of Jehovah combats the Nazis. Accept the proposition that Adolf Hitler was ‘nuts about the occult’ and everything else will make logical sense. The picture hasn’t dated at all — it overflows with Gee-Whiz excitement that makes Marvel exploits play like weak tea.
