As much as I like and respect Halle Berry's performances and abilities as an actress, she should review her contract with whatever agent got her into this mess of a movie. No tension, no excitement and a confusing plot that didn't let anything remotely interesting kick in until near the end of the movie. Movies are fun to suspend believability and enjoy creativity but this one, awful plot.
The powers that be with this movie expect a dumbed down audience to just sit there and enjoy nonsensical dialogue and plot. Although I did enjoy the ending (no spoilers) that was about if for anything at all I liked about this movie.

Maika Monroe shows no depth or emotion, her expression is "I am bored with this" the entire movie. And if some say it's to show a messed up personality because of her childhood in the movie, do an online search as she has that same expression in real life. The plot is confusing and does not create tension or excitement, and I was as bored as Monroe. Nicholas Cage only ok, doing his best as a tribute to a wild Heath Ledger but nowhere near as exciting. All in all, I am sorry I rented it and didn't wait until it hit the streaming services. Too bad because it had potential although I think it went for the Silence of Lamb vibe and fell way, way short.
It's the kind of movie you can watch while working on laptop. Easy to follow, predictable and most of the time very slow for a movie billed as a "thriller." Don Johnson aged well and it was nice to see him minus the ever present cigarette hanging from his lips like in Miami Vice. The lead character is good but way to polite for an action guy wronged at every step. The police are almost laughably corrupt and are not scary or frightening in any way. The runtime is too long for the events taking place and there really is no good soundtrack. Overall there are a lot worse movies streaming and this is passable, much like a Lifetime movie.
